Pierced Rose - Episode 47

 

Brad didn't know how he got to her place, all he  knew was  that he was there outside her door.  He felt  excited and the same time scared.

He raised his hand ready to knock but it hang on the air for some few seconds before he gained enough courage to do it.

After what happened earlier, he wasn't sure she would receive him warmly.
"Lord, have mercy on my balls." He murmured evening his breaths.

He knocked twice then thrice when he heard someone running towards the door.

The look on her face made a slash on his heart..  Her eyes were swollen red and puffy.

He was the reason of her sorrows even thou he didn't mean to.

They seemed to have a silent conversation as they stared into each other eyes.

"You got the wrong address, this is not Isabelle's house." Reginah looked away almost slamming the door on his face.

If he hadn't held onto the door, it would have been the worst day of his life where he would have to lose her forever.

"Wait, baby . I didn't mean to kiss her. Its you I love please." Brad assured. She stared silently opening the door signalling him to come in.

She followed him quietly to the living room. When he  turned towards her , she shifted her eyes to the fluffy carpet. 

"Maggie told me what happened with my mum, why did you not tell me????" Brad asked  taking her hand into his

. Reginah shockingly stared at him swallowing large gulps of air.

She was gonna kill Maggie for putting her on a tight spot.
"I am sorry for misunderstanding you," he continued, "you would have told me and we could have solved the issue. Do you know how bad I feel for being mean and rude to you.  I thought you loved Jayson and here I am looking like a jealous freak. I wanted you to be ha...."

She placed her finger on my lips, "ssshhh."

"I am sorry too. For being a coward. But your mother was just looking up for you. Trust me.." Her lips turned into a tiny smile as I held her tightly to my chest.

"I am sorry, I didn't trust you tonight. How stupid can I be? How could I be unfair when I am the one in the wrong??? Your mom was right I don't deserve you." She cursed herself pulling back.

"It's not your fault. My mother threatened you. You are the perfect girl for me my love.."
"Trust me, am not.." Reginah took turned away from him, her hands crossed on her chest.

"Don't be hard on yourself,  I was the one who was stupid. I was blinded with jealousy not to see that you loved me all along and its was Isabella's and my mom's fault you dumped me." He pressed his chest on her back, arms crossed around her stomach.

"Your mother did nothing wrong, she was just looking out for you when she found out I was an underage stripper." Reginah murmured. Brad instantly dropped his hands off her stomach and pulled back.

"If you think you lying to me is gonna make me leave, you are wrong.."
"I am not lying Brad..."

"Who advised you to tell me this nonsense???" Brad shrieked in surprise turning her around to face him.
"You can never do wrong, you are a good person.  Stop lying to me.." Brad laughed as he held her at shoulder length.

"It's not a joke Brad, your mother found out that I was an underage stripper and she was worried about what it would do to your reputation."

Brad felt his insides cutting like they were shards of glass.
"It's not true, not you.." He stuttered staggering to the couch.

"It's true Brad. I am sorry I didn't tell you earlier.." Reginah sobbed but Brad just remained silent.

"Brad I am so sorry, I was scared to tell you..." Reginah knelt infront of him, "Brad,look at me.." Brad looked away.

"Please say something," Reginah cried out on his laps, "Brad talk to me, hit me, strangle me but please don't remain silent.."

Brad tried so hard to internalise what was happening but nothing made sense.. Who was Reginah???  He was broken inside, he wasn't sure if he loved the girl or the lie??? His brain was at a standstill.

"Why did you not tell me earlier???" Brad's voice shook when he walked away from the sofa.
"I tried to that day I found you watching a Strippers' movie  then you begun ranting of how you hated them so I got scared and walked away.."

"I need to know everything.." Brad murmured, one hand on his hips and the other rubbing his forehead. He could feel a headache rising up his temples.

Four years ago. Reginah and her mother were all on their own. Living from hand to mouth. Nobody wanted to hire a form four leaver with no experience, their lives were hopeless..

Reginah had no choice but to help her mother bake which was still not so profitable. Suddenly her mother begun having chest pains, fever, sweating profusely and shaking chills.

Reginah was always worried. Her mother seemed weaker by the days but she always tried to smile to show Reginah she was okay until one day she suddenly fainted.

With the help of the neighbours, she was rushed to the hospital where she was admitted. Having pneumonia, fluids were intravenously a drip and she had on a oxygen mask to help her breath.

On that hospital bed she looked helpless... The bill was escalating and they had no money. Been end month some bills required to be paid and everything coin they had Reginah used it in the hospital.

She tried to seek help from her grandmother but she gave her a cold shoulder. She wasnt ready to forgive her mother for being impregnated by a rich boy. She was so conserved and to her that was worse than death. Aunty Bilu on the other hand was also broke, her Ben 10 had stolen all the money from their joint account..

It was Reginah and her mother against the world. At 17 responsibilities were thrown on her back without her consent. At 17, she had to man up and be the head of the family.

She tried begging but she couldn't raise enough.
She had lost all hope when one of her classmates introduced her to Big Tod who was the manager of Sakwa strippers club. At first he was reluctant to hire her but he couldn't resist her beauty.

She was trained how to slow dance on stage and on tables... At rehearsals it seemed easy until her first day at work.  The hands on her thighs and arms made her wanna throw up.

She hated herself. Every night she cried herself to bed... All she always saw was those hands around her until she got used to it.

She made good money, ten thousand a night and tips on top was enough for her to settle their expenses and save up for college...

Her mother was discharged from the hospital after six days and was advised alot of bed rest.
Reginah couldnt stop working as a stripper, the money was good.

It wasn't time to think about her self respect but how they were gonna survive.

Every Saturday night she could lie to her mother that she had gone to see some friends or something came up... To her mother it all seemed fishy but she chose to ignore.

Maggie was in Italy after they finished highschool and she was ashamed to tell her if what she had turned to.. She hated the job but wasn't willing to stop.

All was going well until a client requested a private dance with her... She was seated all his lap dancing when he ordered her, "Stand up baby.."

As an obedient girl she stood up and followed him to bed when suddenly he wanted to pull off her bra...

Reginah was angry and so she slapped him hard which raged him..
He violently threw her on the bed and begun slapping her forcing her to undress... 

Luckily beside the bed there was a flower vase which she used to hit him... He staggered off her and Reginah hit him again that he lied on his pool of blood.

Reginah panicked and screamed for help. When Big Tod arrived, "Reginah, go away from here. I don't wanna see you again.." He ordered and Reginah as told run out of there as fast as she could with only a shirt on that one of the girls gave her..

When she arrived home, she told her mother everything.

. Although disappointed, she had to help her out and moved out of that town...

"That's my story.." Reginah concluded.
Brad felt like something squeezed his heart that he felt pain.

"Brad I know I disgust you and you don't want to see me after everything I have told you.. I hope one day you will forgive me.."

The sobbing sounds from her made him feel destroyed.

He didn't know what he felt. He couldn't tell if he was angry or sympathetic. Reginah was a stripper and to top it all she almost killed someone.. He was numb, speechless..
His brain had departed him. He had no energy to think, he just wanted to cry, yell, slap himself..

He needed closure. To him all seemed like a bedtime horror story... He was in a dilemma to whether stay or run..

But all of this was too much for him... He could take it, it was suffocating him... That room was suffocating him, his love for her was suffocating him.

Without another word, he stood from where he was sitting and walked out.
"Brad!!!!Brad!!!! Don't leave me. Brad come back.." Reginah cried going after him.

Brad ran to his car, got in and drove off.
Reginah was left there on her knees crying out his name....
