Pierced Rose - Episode 20

 

Did you know barbeque tastes different depending on the special kinds of meat, fresh ingredients and particular kinds of sauce..

The smell of the grills made Reginah feel hungry, she couldn't wait to eat.

The briny air carried a different smell. The smell of spicy chicken, meat and seafood as they sizzled on the the grill.

The front veranda had an eating area with a table and comfortable seating.
There were also hammocks where one could lie and watch the waves...

"Reginah dear, go bring the beers and wine as I finish up with the grills.." Mike beseeched.
"Okay dear..." Reginah replied rushing inside and Jayson followed her, "I will help her with the drinks..."

Reginah was busy humming preparing the drinks when Jayson came and stood beside her..
His presence just made her hatred for him multiply..The more he saw her stand there, the more her cut grew deep but less painful than before...

"Renah, can we talk please???" Jayson pleaded.
"Talk??? can you hear yourself. For six years I waited for you, for six years I longed for you, for six years I always wondered what I did wrong. You didn't even call or text me. And now you want us to talk???? Never..." Reginah barked, placing the drinks on the tray...

She walked past Jayson only for him to hold her arm, "Listen to me, let's talk Renah.."
"Don't call me Renah, you lost that right six years ago.. When you left me when I needed you the most..." Reginah snapped trying to shake his hand off her...
"And for the record, stay away from me.. I hate you more than I do pumpkin and I wish to never see your face again..."

Jayson wasn't ready to let her go yet, he knew the flash of anger was to protect her from the pain he had caused her..

"Please Renah, I wanna explain everything..." Jayson insisted, blocking her way.
"Do you know for how long I waited for you??? I always prayed you would walk into my house and make everything right..Every night I waited for your call but nothing. And then out of nowhere you wanna explain yourself... Kindly just go back to hell where you came from.." Reginah thundered, "Move away or the next thing will be these drinks on you..." Her emotions were cold and full of rage..

"Riri dear, what is keeping you guys???" Brad asked walking into the kitchen..
"We were arguing about the drinks, right Jayson???" Reginah faked a smile and Jayson nodded awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck as he moved away.

"Let's go guys, you will argue about the drinks later," Brad retorted taking the tray from Reginah's hands, "Come on Riri, before the barbeque gets cold.."

Mike had made his own BBQ recipe and wanted them to try it..
"Riri, you will be the first to have a bite." Mike drove the piece of BBQ to her mouth but she pulled her head back..

"It's still raw, look it's bloody..." Reginah cried out...
"That's how BBQ should be, bloody.." Mike giggled, forcing the piece into her mouth..

When Reginah tasted it, she recognised it was delicious and could not stop eating it..

"Mike, I wanna learn how to make this, show me show me..." Reginah requested excitedly...
"His recipes are always a secret," Brad replied.
"But Riri you are exceptional, you are a good chef so I will share my recipes with you in secret.." Mike winked at her and Reginah hugged him blissfully, moving him side to side.

"You are the best Mikey..." Reginah beamed kissing his cheek..
"Mikey!!!" Brad said sounding disgusted.
"Yes Mikey!!!" Reginah retorted plastering his face with kisses..
"Enough Riri, enough!!" Brad ordered pulling them apart, "You should have more barbeque..." Brad suggested, shoving many pieces in her mouth..

"Are you jealous that she kissed me??" Mike teased, his hand on Brad's shoulder.
"Of course not," Brad forced out a laugh..

Mike shrugged, Reginah was about to go sit next to Mike when Brad pulled her as she sat next to him, "Why go sit far away when there is a seat here???" Brad argued and Mike shook his head in amusement of how dramatic Brad was. Luckily Isabelle was by the pool or there would have been a fight between the girls..

"Okay you would have asked me politely, not pull me.." Reginah murmured sliding into her seat..
"So Riri, do you have some chocolate??? I wanna steal some..." Mike joked and Jayson, Maggie and Reginah laughed.

"What's funny??" Brad asked confusingly.
"When we were in Primary school, Mike loved to steal Reginah's chocolates." Maggie explained...
"Trust you me, I never ever ate them. Jayson was always ready to come to her rescue.. He would wait for me at the corner and hold me by the collar and order me to give the chocolate back to Riri." Mike chuckled mimicking how Jayson used to hold him.

"After Jayson would force me to give Riri back her chocolate, she would look away shyly or even run away.." Maggie added.
"But who wouldn't , he was the hottest guy in school. Such a charmer.." Reginah said flatly..

"Was I a charmer???"Jayson asked , a naughty glint in his eyes..
"Yes dummy, you were a charmer. All girls wanted you but you wanted only Riri who was very shy.." Maggie said unable to tame her uncontrollable laugh.

"And Jayson always got angry since Riri loved when I carried her on my bike. He would always threaten me," Mike proceeded to mock Jayson..

"She was my crush who used to ignore me, I had to be angry and jealous.."Jayson admitted truthfully.

"Did you guys ever date???" Brad asked his eyes dancing around Jayson and Reginah...His jealousy felt like a thousand pieces of glass wedged between his body and soul..

"You know what, that's is in the past.. We all grown up and have our lives to live," Reginah stammered offering Brad a half smile...
"Yah, everything is in the past.." Maggie seconded.

"It seemed you guys were so close in Primary, what happened???" Malcolm asked caressing Michelle's thighs.
"Mike went to Uganda to his parents, Jayson went away leaving me and my bff.." Maggie explained a small smile on her lips..

"Those days were good," Mike stated.
"They were amazing and lots of fun." Reginah added a small smile on her face.

"But what happened to you Riri??? you are in your second year and not fourth year. I don't understand it.." Ben asked, tapping his cheek pretending to think hard.

"Some personal problems made me quit school then but am back now.." Her eyes were sad when she replied.
"I am sorry if I made you sad.." Ben retorted.
"It's okay."

"I now understand why when I joined Braxton, you were not around but Maggie used to tell me lots about you..." Mike beamed.
"Now I am here to stay," Reginah assured as Brad placed his hand on her knee.

"Guys enough with this boring story telling, let's go have fun in the pool.." Isabelle suggested walking towards them and for once they agreed with her.
