My bodyguard - Episode 10

 

Some days later without any form of communication between Stacey and Jack, which felt like forever to Stacey, she felt it was wise to break the silence. She walked straight to where he was, and told him she needed to go somewhere. Jack was surprised because he thought they will never speak. 

He quietly obliged her request. Jack turned facing Stacey, asking her where she wanted to go . So she gave a sharp response saying "any nice boutique ". He started the vehicle and they left. It was a silence drive to the boutique since they were not ready to talk, but the drive to the boutique was accompanied with the both of them stealing glances at each other. 

They finally got to the boutique, he parked the car at the car slot provided for customers.  Stacey quietly went inside and started shopping. Jack who wasn't interested in getting anything for himself, just sat by a corner he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out his wallet. Inside the wallet was the picture of his late fiancee, he was lost in thought that he didn't notice that Stacey was done shopping. 

Stacey walked to where he was sitted and stared at the picture in his hand, that must be Sonia, said Stacey, Jack quickly became aware of his surrounding, he was surprised and asked her how do you know about Sonia?  She just gave him a weak smile and answered, your sister told me actually. Jack mood changed immediately

. He asked her sharply are you done shopping?. She was surprised at his sudden outburst.

She quickly pulled him to a corner and she asked him what's really the problem, why are you always like this? He didn't even pay her attention he just stormed out of the boutique.  Stacey had to look around to check if people where looking at their little drama. Stacey ran after him and pulled him by the shoulders, talk to me Jack, what is th matter with you?  Jack threw his gaze the other way, he saw a gun man aiming at Stacey, with a loud voice he ordered her to get down but she did not understood what he meant by that.

He pulled her by her arms and he fell top of her, with their lips almost colliding, Jack wasn't aware of this because he was concerned about their safety, Stacey on the other hand was lost in thought smiling sheepishly. She quickly got back to her senses and she screamed, Jack get off me,  hitting him by the shoulders she was about getting up when Jack placed his hand on her chest to feel her heart beat.

It's obvious you are scared said Jack that's why your heart is racing. She ignored his last statement.

. Oh my God Jack you have been shot said Stacey pointing at his arm.  All of a sudden he could feel the pain, oh sh-t he exclaimed. She took the car keys from him and she quickly took him to the car and drove like a mad woman to their family hospital.

When they arrived she called the attention of some nurses that were on duty and they quickly rushed to his aid taking him inside. Stacey was sitted in the eating room and she felt it wise to inform her parents about what happened, she brought out her phone and dialed her mother's number, she picked almost immediately. 

Hello mum,  said Stacey who was breathing heavily, her mum could sense that all is not well. What is the matter my angel,  said her mother,  please try and clam down and talk to me, her father quickly snatched the phone from her and decided to talk to Stacey himself. Hello my child what is the problem, you are scaring us. Dad Jack has been shot said Stacey. Her father was surprised and quickly asked about their whereabouts and him and his wife dashed out of the house 

In less than an hour they were already at their family hospital, they went straight to the doctor's office, Doctor please how is he? Said chief, he will be alright said the doctor, immediately they all took a deep breath, knowing he was out of danger. Can we see him now asked Stacey, yes sure you can,  they all left the doctors office and went straight to the ward Jack was.

Immediately Jack saw them he tried to sit up a bit but the pains from the gun shot held him down, how are you feeling now said chief Adekunle, I feel much better now sir thanks for coming around. Who could be responsible for this asked chief I saw chief Daniels men at the placed it happened, I strongly believe he sent them sir said Jack, they were not after me because the gun was pointed at your daughter but thank God I saw them on time.  All the while Jack was narrating the incident to chief and his wife, Stacey didn't her gaze off him she kept staring until their eyes meet. 

This time neither of them look away, they kept staring at each other till tears dropped down from Stacey's eyes, Mrs Adekunle who noticed the silence turned to Stacey and saw her crying. Are you crying? Asked Mrs Adekunle, you don't have to cry he will be alright said Mrs Adekunle patting her on the back. You need some rest said chief to Stacey, yes you are right said Stacey mother, please let's go home so that you can rest.

They stood up to leave and Jack thanked them for coming to check on him,  when they got to the door Stacey allowed her parents to pass first and she turned one last time to look at Jack, Jack on the other hand was aware that she was staring at him but he refused to look at her direction, she left the room quietly and walked straight to the car to meet her parents waiting for her, she joined them in the vehicle and they had a silent ride back home
