Midnight Voice - Episode 18
When they finally set off at the stipulated time in their various formation, the faces of the protectors were set in grim determination. They had been told that they were going to the forest of Nogue where evil spirits were said to call out names of the people they see in the mid night and if they succumbed to it, they'd never be seen again. Kaku seemed to be crafty by choosing that location as whoever goes in there during the day can never be seen except in the cover of darkness.
They knew they had to move fast because in as much as they had purged the Citadel of Ominas, more could still be dispatched and they would go and destroy things at home . About 20 protectors were left behind but they may not be able to withstand a large horde. They travelled all night resting when they could and then pressing on. They also travelled all day the next day making and breaking camp intermittently for a much needed rest.
On the third day, at about 1100hrs they spotted the forest of Nogue and they made camp a little bit far from the forest to wait for night fall. During that time they went through drills and had their last information. Ed told them that some more protectors assigned to other provinces will be joining them by night fall and their hearts were merry because they knew that they would have more chance with more protectors on their side. They were truly willing to die if need be but they would choose life if they had that alternative so they went through their drills with more confidence and vigor.
Jason caught up with Ed walking along a little stream close by.
"Sire!" Jason called out to Ed and he paused without looking back waiting for him to catch up

. "I'm sorry to disturb you but we need to know how to proceed when night falls". He was scared but he tried not to let it show.
"Don't let the men get attracted to the voices..."
"How did you...!?" Jason was surprised, wondering how he knew what his concerns were exactly. He had become very perceptive to things around him and seems to be growing too.
"The night is almost upon us Jason," he said turning his gaze to look at him, "you need to go and get the troops ready to move and also position the scouts so that we can see things as soon a possible.
"As you wish, Sire." Came the reply from Jason.
