Made - Episode 30

 

"You okay? You look like you have seen death and had a brief talk with it. "

"Yea Danny _ After watching all that stuff about Kim its hard not to be shaken up. Am just worried."

"Worried about what exactly?" I asked. 

He did not sound good at all.  Kim was a dangerous man .  I was in as much risk and danger as he was but we could not just let him walk scot free. Yes... we could keep quite about the whole thing but that would mean he would walk away unscathed. It would also mean more victims on his already large list of victims. 

We did not have any gurantee that he would not come after us even if we kept quite. Telling the authorities was now the only plausible action to take. 

Fear is like an airborne virus. I could not afford Rob who had helped me with the gathering of the evidence quitting on me right now. 

I stopped the car. 

"Why are you stopping?" He asked a confused expression written all over his face. 

"Rob _ i need to know we are in this together. If you are having second thoughts this is the time to quite so that i can go ahead alone. Am grateful you already found an uncorrupt cop we could approach with all this."

I searched his eyes. 

Please don't quite on me i need you now more than ever.

"Am scared out of my mind." He said.

. His eyes looked dull with worry. His ears stretched out as if waiting to hear something. 

"He is so dangerous Danny." My heart drummed dangerously against my chest i was slowly giving up hope of doing this with him.

"Am already in this. I can't leave you to handle this alone. Am neck deep in this." 

I sighed in relief.

"You ready for this?" I asked my hands already on the ignition key.

"Well...i have lived long enough already...here goes nothing."

I did not know what i expected but the police department looked dull as dull could get. It was stuffy and hot in there i wondered how they survived. We followed the man in uniform and came at a halt on an office written Det. Richard Jonnes.

He opened the door.

"We have some visitors here for you." He said while ushering us in.

"Please have a seat." Det Jonnes said motioning us to sit on the adjacent chairs in the room.

The office didn't hold much but had an air conditioner much to my relief.

"How may i help you?"

We eyed each other nervously battling on who to start first.

We had come a long way we could just as well spill.

Here goes nothing.

"Well we have a possible case we want to bring to your attention."

Detective Jonnes leaned foward and folded her fingers on each other. I studies him for a few seconds and got the sense i could trust him. I tactfully went over the discoveries we had come across the past three months. He listen to me not betraying any emotion. Someone like him must have seen it all.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. We have been after this guy for a long time now."

"You have?"

He nodded

"I have been following leads that always end in a cold trail. You are the most promising lead i have had in three years.

My heart faltered. I could feel the rush of warm blood against my veins. I could not believe half of the time i had been with Kim he was a wanted criminal.

"Wow.. it must have been hard."

"It was .. knowing someone had commited a crime and not having any evidence to pin him down was pretty tough on my conscience."

I nodded in understanding.

"I have an eye witness but he wants a deal before he comes foward." I told him watching his face. He did not betray any kind of emotions.

"What sort of deal?"

"Witness protection... and also not to be implicated in the cover up of murder of Cindy Kate."

He kept quite for a while. I looked over to where Rob was sitted. He sat there and i could sense the fear crawling under his spine. It made me shudder a bit.

"I will talk to my seniors but i don't it will be a problem given that Kim is on the list of the most wanted criminals not just in our country but across borders."

I gave him a flash disk containing all the fifty videos Rob had given me. We also gave him bank statement, recorded phone conversation on tape that implicated Kim. He would have to turn into Lucifer himself to walk away from this.

And he tried.

We did not know what we were doing. Whether we could see the sun rise next morning without Kim coming for us we did not know. All we knew was that it had to be done somehow and we knew the reason we were doing it. 

Someone had to do it or all the atrocities Kim had committed would continue to pile up. Steve was helping a tone by agreeing to to testify against him. If anybody's life was at risk it was his. He was laying his head on the chopping stand ready to have it off if that was what it took to write the wrongs he had done.

We rode in silence. Robert as myself i knew was just going over his head on the possible outcomes of this situation. We had sealed our fates and put a signet ring on it.

Now we had to wait and that was not easy. The tension that was slowly brewing inside my stomach was enough to make one go nuts. I came at a stop where Rob was to alight and make his way to his house. I could not help but remember the day i had followed David back to this place.

Now am so glad i did.

I alighted from my car and found myself hugging Robert. A sense of sadness overwhelmed my being and i could quite place it. 

"What's that for?" A perplexed Rob asked before rubbing his hands awkwardly against my back. 

"You have sticked your neck out for this, am grateful Rob."

"I geuss we did this." He said with a weak smile.

"We did this. We gonna be fine." I said pulling away from him. My tone clearly showed uncertainty on what i just said.

"I hope so."

I did not look up to meet his gaze. I couldn't.

I layed on top of my bed beside Alicia after an exhausting weekend full of discoveries and adventures. I mused over how fast i had ran that day to catch Steve. Cindy never saw it coming. Her innocence got her killed. Kim was a sick man. I wondered if prison would keep him in check. Atleast he wouldn't be running around trying to kill my whole family.

Could we really trust Det.

. Jonnes? Rob said he was one of the most honest cops he had come across. 

Rob

He had been visibly scared all through. He did not make any attempt to conceal that he was scared out of mind.

I shifted my postion on the bed to sleep on my side. I checked my alarm clock. 

Jeez.

It was past midnight. I closed my eyes trying to sleep. I had a long day tommorow and i could not afford to start the week grumpy and tired.

And the phone call came.

Who could be calling me at such an ungodly hour? Dead in the night..

It was Rob.

Wait  ...that was weird. We never talked by phone. I always had to go over to his place or have him come over.

I recieved the call.

My hear sank and i let out a scream.

"You have twenty four hours to bring all the evidence you have against me. Else you die. It's also the time Rob has before he suffocates to death. Only after you bring me the evidence will i give you a hint on where he might be."

This episode leaves you in quit a suspense. Next episode am going to let you into Kim's brain.

We are now scaling towards the end and the events will be absolutely mind blowing.
