Made - Episode 25

 

"Am home!" I shouted while opening the front door. 

David rushed into the living room his hand filled with flour. I could not help but smile.

"Where is ma?"

"She went out for a walk, i stayed behind to  welcome you back home _ welcome home."

He engulfed me in a warm hug then swirled me around like a child. I closed my eyes and enjoyed each bit . After swirling me around he put me down then held my chin in his hand.

"It's really nice to have you back. First things first you need to freshen up then take a nap if possible. It must have been a long drive back here."

I just nodded while smiling. He took my bags and we headed for my room. He then left me to myself. I could see the box Rob left set by my bedside locker. I removed my clothes and immidiately headed for a bath. I filled the the bath tub with warm water and soaped myself. I then entered and layed my head on its edge closed my eyes and slowly drifted to sleep.

"Should i wake her up?"

"No! She must be tired." David's voice responded.

I slowly opened my eyes. My God!  I had fallen asleep in the bath tub

. The water was now cooler for my liking.

"Am awake!" I shouted at Rachael and David.

"Okay whenever you are ready _ dinner is served... we won't eat without you."

I grabbed my sponge then started scrubbing my  body. Within ten minutes i was done. I changed then went to the dining room.

"Welcome home Danny. Supriiisee!"

Mum,dad, Lloyd and Alicia embraced me in a hug all at once. I felt overwhelmed. Nobody had told me my brother was back in the country.

"Lloyd!"

"Danny _ baby girl."

We embraced then i jabbed him on the ribs.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"

"It would ruin the suprise."

I turned to mum and dad.

"And you also kept this secret from me?"

"Like you haven't been keeping secrets fom us." Mum replied looking at David then winking at me.

"Mom!"

"Enough you guys , after chocking me in a family hug  i need to eat." Alicia cut in.

"You are just jelous."

"You bet i am." Alicia backed at me then raised one of her eyebrows while holding her arms at akimbo. 

"Thank you ma for all this..i know you are the brains behind this suprise." I said while hugging Rachael tightly.

"You know me too well daughter."

I looked at the edge where David was standing. His smile was enough to satisfy. I let go of Rachael and we all sat by the table. A cake decorated with welcome home note was in the middle of the dinning table. All through saying the grace, cutting the cake and eating off the well prepared meal i could not help but remember a lyrics of a song i had known since child hood.

Count your blessing name then one by one,

Count your blessings see what God has done,

Count your blessings name thm one by one,

And you will be amazed in what the Lord has done.

Grateful is how i felt.

I was grateful for my parents and siblings. The love they had showerd me with. I was grateful for my new found family, Rachael and David. They had shown me love that would have otherwise been impossible if read from a book or heard of in a story. I was also grateful for Mercy and Philip who had impacted my life in more ways than i cared to mention.

After the meal my parents left. Alicia and Lloyd stayed for the night. As Rachael saw my parents to the car, Lloyd and i went to the balcony. Alicia and David were doing the dishes. They were becoming fast friends.

 "You still owe me for not telling me you were coming." I jabbed playfully at his ribs.

"Am sorry baby siz, next time i will call your husband to notify you am coming." Lloyd glanced towards the house.

"Am not married to David and am not a baby anymore." I cried out playfully. 

"It sure looks like it."

I could never win an argument with a Lloyd. He just had to win. He had one month holiday before going back to resume his studies in Germany. He was now a gym freak and his muscles bulged nicely under his shirt. It was good having him around.

"Am happy you are here."

"Am happy too." He moved then engulfed me in a tight embrace.

"I have missed our sibling moments."

"Me to."

He would always be my big brother and i his baby sister. 

"Hope am not interrupting anything."

We turned to face a smiling David. 

"I had a long day and am super tired. I beg to retire." Lloyd said heading inside.

We stood in an awkward silence each one waiting for the other to break the eerring silence. I moved from where i was standing then sank into the balcony porch. David follow my lead, sinking beside me this time not letting any gap between us.

"How did the project go?"

"It was fine, we were successful."

"Thats great."

"Yes it is."

The first bit of the conversation was ridiculous. The tensed atmosphere engulfed us with silence reigning all over it. I played with my fingers while David bowed his head blocking my view off trying to read his mind.

"Daniella i have feelings for you." David suddenly cleared the silence off the air.

My heart lunched and i could feel it warm up. Yes! He had said it. David Johnson had feelings for me. I bowed my head blushing without saying a word.

"I know the picture i have created about what i believe in and what i actually did are colliding. Am sorry for that moment of weakness. I was not intending to take advantage of you."

"Its okay Dee, i kissed you back... i was there. I cannot totally blame you. I shouldn't have sneaked into your private chambers like that." He moved to hold my chin in his hands. My heart beat increased. 

"Daniella you are a beautiful person. From the day i brought you the pamphlet, i knew i had met the one for me. I want to do the right thing by you. Daniella Erickson would you please be mine?"

I was barely breathing now. My heart was beating wildly against my chest. It almost pained. Tears started to flow from my eyes. Uncontrollably. 

"Danny are you okay _ did i say something wrong?"

I shook my head then muttered softly.

"Yes David Johnson. I want to be yours."

He kissed my forehead then my hands.

"I promise i will do everthing in my power to make you happy."

I nodded daintily more tears flowing out of my eyes. David wiped them off with the edge of his sweater. We hugged making promises to one another. I did not notice Alicia watching us.

"So when is the wedding?"

I was changed ready for bed. Alicia who i had thought was asleep almost knocked me off my bed with that question.

This child would kill me one day. 

"You were being a bad girl." I said tickling her along her sides.  I did this for a while driving her to cross her fingers. A sign of defeat.

"Yes am a bad girl." She admitted exhausted from the long laughter.

"David kept calling me Danny while we were doing dishes.

Another episode of tickling followed. This time she crossed fingers of both her hands.

"I surrender!" She shouted. 

I spread the covers that were now bundled in the middle due to the mess we just created. I tucked Alicia and settled beside her. She pulled out my phone.

"Meanwhile i have been looking for gowns best for a bride like you."

I give up on this one.  Alicia my sister was just Alicia and i loved her that way.

Yaaay! I made it to the third episode. I hope my apology for updating late is now accepted. So The D's are now in the block.  The story is almost climaxing. Thanks to all my readers.  Will be updating soon. I'd love to know what you think on the comment section below.
