"She almost went down with Marie a while ago, it's not even a day and I'm already thinking this is wrong" I say to Carter on the phone.

"Woah? That's a fight I would like to see, did they pull their hair? Marie woulda been able to take her, anytime" He says, his mouth full of something.

"Are you listening to me? I said I'm rethinking my decision".

"I'm trying to filter that part so I don't be that petty friend who says I told you so" He says.

"Why do I get a feeling you've already said that a million times in your head?"

"Because I have"

"Fucker" I say, my eyes going to the bed where she's lying.

I'm not taking the risk of leaving her alone and having her escape the house.

I've yet to rig the house up for her to be unable to make an escape.

So, until then, we are stuck together.

I frown at the fact that she's been sleeping for close to eight hours now, on a closer look I see dark circles under her eyes.

 

Seems the kidnapping case got to her more than she let on.

"Is this wise?"Carter asks.

" What? "

" You taking her back to the house where she broke your heart, is it wise? "

" I had no other remote place to bring her, besides we are at the cottage, not the main house "I say, knowing that I've thought about this a million times too.

 

She didn't seem to remember me, does that mean she won't remember the house too? We made memories around the farm, they meant something to me, did they mean enough her for her to remember?

I snort, the answer already plain.. Of course she won't remember.

 

"You know your mama will be pissed you are seeing her again" Carter says, the sound of spoon hitting plate.

"That's the main reason why she's in the Bahamas on a much needed vacation" I say.

Moving away from the railing to look again at the bed.

She's curled around a pillow, her hair is everywhere, I look away.

Okay, I didn't think this through, my body's reaction to her is unbelievable.

 

"Well, take care of your problem by your self, I'm having dinner, it's one my housekeeper made, I need no distraction while eating this" He says.

"Well, forgive me for interrupting your golden meal, it's not as if my problem is important or anything" I say.

"Did you know you became more of a girl since you came back from the army?" He says..

I make the best impression of a girl's voice.

"It's only for you Carter" I say and he pauses before proceeding to mock retch.

"Please, for the love of God, never ever do that shit again, you sounded...." He gives an exaggerated shudder and I laugh a little.

"Go back to your meal Carter" I say.

"OK..

. Stellan?" He calls.

"What?"

"I told you so" He says before disconnecting.

I huff a laugh but stop when a voice asks.

"Was that your boyfriend? You both sounded cute together" I turn at that baiting voice.

 

"That's my best friend, if you feel like you really need to know I can prove my masculinity to you right now, what do you say?" I ask, taking a step into the room.

She watches me warily and I know she has her guards down.

"Stay away from me, When this shit storm is over I wil be sure to tell all your clients that you use sexual innuendoes" She says and I smirk. 

"Do what ever you want princess" I say and she pulls the duvet around her leg.

 

"Do all your female clients gets this kind of treatment or am I special?" She asks.

"Nobody can afford me darling, not even the mayor of this town, so yeah, you are special" I say, sarcastically.

She does not say anything and I know she doesn't know what to do with that.

 

She looks around the room before turning to me.

"Where are we?"She asks. 

"I can't tell you that"

"Why?"

"It's highly classified, for your safety" I say and she rolls her eyes, getting off the bed and looking around again..

I wait to see a spark of recognition in her face but nothing shows.

What I thought.

When she's done she turns to me. 

 

"I need to bath, I need a change of clothes" She says, as if it's my fault that she doesn't have any clothes.

I guess it is my fault.

"I will see if Marie have something you can wear, we will get you a change of clothes tomorrow as it is already late" I say.

"I'm not wearing any of those woman's clothes".

"Then you will have to make do with mine" I say.

"Uh.. Hell no"

"Okay then, prepare to sleep in those leather skirts, they look mighty comfortable" I say before pointing to the bathroom door.

"There are towels in there and your brand of shampoo and soap, when you are done come down for dinner" I say.

"You know my brand of shampoo?"

"We are efficient Miss Knight"

"If you are so efficient why don't I have clothes with me?"

"We trusted that you could at least take care of that" I say and she throws me a killing look.

I move to the door, exiting it, stepping into the hallway and through the opposite door..

I debate the merit of what I'm about to do but decide to anyway.

She can't sleep in those leathers..

I grab a t-shirt and a short before exiting the room and into hers.

I don't knock and there's my mistake.

She's stripped down to her panties and bra.

"Mr Gray!" She squeals.

I cooly hand her the clothes, trying not to let my inner feelings spill.

"Wear this, tomorrow we will go into town for something else" I say and she grabs them, smashing them to her chest.

"Have you ever heard of knocking?" She gripes.

I turn to the door before turning back to her.

"Do you really not remember anything at all?" I ask and she frowns in annoyance.

"What the hell are you talking about?" She asks but I shake my head before exiting.

I hear the lock on the door engage and I nod.

Good, it's going to stop me from entering there and wringing her neck.
