"You forgot?" I ask in quiet rage.

She doesn't reply because she understands that at times like this it's best for one not to speak.

We had to admit her for the night, she might to stay another or two, seeing as before we got her here are allergies escalated to a dangerous extent.

Not only is it going to make my job hard for me, it's going to make me loose faith in Marie.

 

"Boss.." Rico starts.

"Not now" I say.

"Just hear her out" He says quietly and I turn to Marie.

"You say you forgot?" I ask, willing my voice not to betray the anger in my heart.

"I.. Yes. . My mind was else where and I didn't think to use normal oil instead of olive oil" She says, hands trembling.

"Marie.."

"You have to believe that I didn't do it on purpose"

She says, close to tears, it's the most vulnerable I've ever seen her.

"I believe you Marie, but I can't have you not one hundred percent available on a mission" I say.

"I'm hundred percent available boss, I promise, its just a one time thing, it will never happen again"

"One time Is enough to ruin a mission, when we get home park up and get to base, I'm sure there are other jobs available, you can ask Tee, I will tell him to get you something, I think it's best if you aren't on this mission" I say, turning away, moving towards the door. 

"You can't do that... Stellan listen to me, it's never going to repeat itself again, please don't do this" 

"Boss.." Rick says but they both know it's a lost cause, I don't pull rank all the time but I will if I have to. 

I step into the hospital room to see her propped up on the bed, awake. 

"Shouldn't you be sleeping on something?" I ask, leaning against the wall, hands crossed looking at her. 

"It's not everyday I get rushed to the hospital after kissing a guy" She says, her face is red, all of her body is red, the rashes look really severe. 

"I look like a tomato" She says. 

"You do" I affirm. 

She throws me a dirty look. 

"You do know you didn't have to say a thing right? All you had to do was say no I didn't look like a tomato" 

"Why should I say something thst isn't true?" I ask.

. I. Can't deal with you, you must think I'm ugly then?"

"Nah,you can never be ugly" I say and she smiles, lying back on the pillow. 

"So.. Did she try to kill me because she's angry I'm your first or something?" She asks. 

I frown, not following. 

"What? I heard you talking the other day, she's one of your conquest isn't she?" She clarifies and I don't know how I feel about her admitting she eavesdropped on my conversation with Marie. 

"She isn't one of my conquest, we had an agreement, no need to sound like a bitch" I say. 

"Touché" She replies, folding her hand beneath her head, turning on her side to watch me. 

"She didn't try to kill you Sybil, she made a mistake one time" I say. 

"You know I can sue you for that mistake and you could be out of business" 

That's the heiress I know. 

"You won't" 

"What makes you think so" she asks, an eye brow up. 

"If you wanted to you would have done so by now" 

"Touché again". She says on a yawn. 

"You should get some sleep" 

"I can't" 

"Why?" 

"It's not everyday I get to see your face, I don't know why you are standing over there but I don't know like it" she says, my body tenses. 

"I've never done right by you have I Stellan? I've only hurt you and I don't like it" 

"Why then did you?" I ask. 

"I had to" She says simply."...im sorry it had to be who hurt you like that" 

If this is part of her acting then she's good, saying all the things I wanted to hear, all the right things. 

"If this is a lie Sybil, don't do it" I say, our eyes holding. 

"You are a part of me as much as I'm a part of you Stellan" She says, her hands holding up a necklace around her neck. 

It's the one I gave her that morning, nine years ago. 

S&S. 

I take a step forward. 

"Why won't you come to me?" She asks quietly and the last of my restraint falls. 

I take a step forward, another and then another. 

I find myself joining her on the hospital bed and she makes room for me. 

"Are you going to go to sleep now?" She asks and I nod. 

I can't think now, not now, not today. 

"It's past three, you should get some sleep too" I say. 

My eyes on the drip fixed in her arm. 

"I'm going to sleep now, now that you are here." She whispers, her head resting on my chest. 

I watch her eyes drift close and I send a silent prayer up that this turns out okay.

 

I lead her into the house the next afternoon, her hand on mine, she refused to stay at the hospital another minute.

I enter the house with Rico, very much aware that Marie kuct already be on a plane back to base.

"Where's the other girl?" Sybil asks, how she manages to look fine with Ile. Looking as red as a tomato is beyond me.

"She went back home"

"Good, I'm not a fan of being killed by silly mistakes" She says.

Rico looks stoic as ever but I know he's calling her all shade of bitches in his mind.

"Yes miss Knight, we are sorry for that mistake, we apologise" I say, and she nods

It must still be hard for her to drop her heiress persona.

 

"Stellan Gray" A voice says in disbelief and my eyes lift to see my mother stepping out of a room.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, my body stilling even as I feel Sybil's stilling beside beside mine.

"Last I checked this was my house,.." She says before turning eyes on Sybil.

".... What is she doing here?" She asks.

"Good afternoon Mrs.."

Sybil doesn't finish before my mum is there, standing in front of her.

I didn't see it coming, if I had I would have tried to stop the slap my mother lands on Sybil.

"Get the hell out of my house and take your vileness with you" My mother says and Sybil's eyes fills with rage.

Shit.
