I didn't want to attend the Kamelo's 30th year anniversary but the old man gave me a speech about making sure I was in the good books of Mr Kamelo since he was an important business associate. 

So all I had to do was make an appearance, pretend to be sorry I was late and throw him praises here and there...

As the usherette led me to my table, I snatched a glass of whisky from the waiter and threw him an unapologetic smile...

"Is the party over?????" I asked the usherette...
"Yes Sir, just one last performance...."

"Okay!!!!!"
I was glad I had missed dinner and those silly performances....

When I got to the table, I sat beside the old man who I was sure wanted to eat me alive...

"I had a lot of work to do...." I said arrogantly when he threw me the 'You are late' look...

A man in a black tux got on stage and announced that  there was a surprise performance for the couple and my  eyes widened  almost choking on my drink when I heard her name been called on stage as people clapped...

Eve Minnie Raine...It had been a week since our encounter and not once has she left my mind...

What are you doing to me woman???

When she got on stage, the man in the black tux kissed her cheek and he did the same making me clench my fists in anger...If we were in another place, I would have beaten the shit out of him...

I don't know why my possessiveness seem to kick in when it comes to her...

"I am so excited to see the two most important people in my life celebrate their 30th anniversary...And since I love them so much, the song I am about to sing I  wrote it only for them...They have proved that marriage works and I hope some day God will bless me with a love life like theirs...."

She looked so beautiful up there that  no matter how much I tried to look away I couldn't. I was fascinated..She had intrigued me with her beauty....

"Do you like her????" The old man asked and I just nodded not wanting to take my eyes off her as she soothed my soul with her amazing voice...

"She is Kamelo's niece....A very nice girl and I think she is good for you...."

"She has no scandals

"It's her I want dad..." The words slipped my mouth before I realized it...

"She isn't look like an easy catch Kid....She seems like the type of a girl who loves to be wooed..."

"It can't be that hard...." I shrugged...

"I know kid, you would do anything to have her and  I am impressed to know my empire will be in safe hands...."

"You know that my priority is  to make you happy dad after all you have done for me..."

"I am  glad!!!!!"

After her performance, the Kamelos gave a closing remark and the party was over....

"Come, I will officially introduce you two!!!!!" The old man said in a commanding tone as he stood from his seat...

We have already met Old man and it wasn't a good encounter...I almost ran her over....

When we walked  to where they were standing and Eve was laughing about something Mrs Kamelo had said...

"Aunt, that's so embarassing..." She laughed, her hand on her mouth...
"But it's the truth..." Mrs Kamelo replied...

"Mr Kamelo, I hope we are not interrupting something????" The old man asked in a 'we don't have all time ' tone...

"Mr Kame, I am glad you could make it...." Mr Kamelo turned and shook his hand...

"I am sure you haven't met my niece, Eve...." Mr Kamelo placed his arm on her shoulder and I wanted to slap it hard...

"I haven't but I must admit she is so beautiful.."

"Thank you Sir, I hope you had a lovely time.." Eve beamed at the old man...

"Everything was perfect...This is Nicholas my son...." The old man gave my shoulder a little squeeze...

"It's nice to meet you Eve..." I outstretched my hand while flashing her a heartwarming smile...

"Pleasure is all mine, Nicholas...." She shook my hand but didn't even try to match the smile...

"I am glad your ankle is doing much better.."

"Yeah some fool tried to run me over but I got lucky...." She replied in a detached voice...

"Why didn't you tell us honey? Why did you lie you fell???" Mrs Kamelo asked in a worried tone...

I pushed the cat out of the bag...

"I didn't want you to worry Aunt..."

"You should have told us honey so that I could have dealt with that jerk!!!!" Mr Kamelo cussed out and for a moment I was tempted to say I was a jerk to see how he had planned to deal with me...

"It's okay Uncle....He took me to the hospital and made sure I was well taken care off.." She retorted, looking at me icily....

"If you want Nicholas would help you deal with the jerk my own way...." The old man suggested.

I am the jerk, old man...,

"No need sir. After going down on his knees and begging  me to forgive him , I chose to let it go...He isn't worth my precious time anyway..."

Is it weird that her obvious contempt for me was somewhat amazing...

"Nicholas, I am glad you will be taking over the Kame empire soon, you are the perfect guy for the job...." Mr Kamelo changed the topic...

"I am glad you have a lot of faith in me Sir, I won't disappoint you...."

"I am sure you won't.... I can't wait for us to start doing many business deals together...."

"Me too Mr Kamelo...."

" I think we need to get going now Mr Kamelo....And Eve I would be happy if you would have some coffee with me and my son sometime????"

"Of course sir, just tell me when and I will be there...." 

"Great, I will invite you soon..."

After saying our goodbyes to the people that mattered, we took our leave.

"It's gonna be hard kid, that girl doesn't seem to like you...." The old man commented as we walked to the parking lot...

"I have my ways Dad...."

"Good because I have decided she is the woman I have chosen for you...She is what you need not that Rio who always brings out the worst in you...."

"But Vivian understands the underworld and she is a badass dad...And aren't you the one always telling me I should be a ruthless, cold boss. How comes you don't want the female version of me to be by my side????." I said in almost a loud voice..

"I know what I said  but you also have legitimate businesses to run and the world needs to  see a descent girl like Eve by your side....Not a girl with mafia blood, You need some innocence in your life..."He replied in a tone clipped with ice...

"Point taken dad!!! So you know the bastard is dead and I will bring Gana's head to you soon...."

"Don't kill him!!! I have a deal to offer him that is worse that death...Death is a very kind punishment, I want him to live each day cursing the day he was born..."

"As you wish dad.."

We got into our cars and the driver  drove back to the club so that we could  pick up Vivian who was helping Hitler with some work..

This was the first time, Vivian and I have had what seemed like a one sided  conversation as Eve captured my thoughts...

All I did was reply with a monosyllable to anything she asked or said...

I bet she was the most beautiful girl in the party tonight...

Did she have any idea how perfect her lips were???The top one perfectly arched and the bottom one soft and round...

I would kiss them all day if she let me, wrapping my arms around her petite frame....

After seeing you tonight Eve, It's clear I have to make you mine...

I don't care if I have to turn this world upside down but I swear in three months time or even less you will be Mrs Kame...

Let's see how long you can pretend to hate me....I will treat you so damn right that my name will be the only words on your lips...

Wait and see Miss Eve Minnie Raine...

"Mandela?????" Vivian snapped her fingers on my face dragging me from my addictive thoughts...

"What????"

"Did you even hear what I just said ??"

"No....."

"Why do you seem lost in thoughts???Is it about marrying another girl???Love, you shouldn't stress we can hire someone to play the role of your wife until you take over the empire...,"

Hire a wife??  You are nuts woman...How can I trust a stranger not to fuck me up in the end???

"Actually he has already chosen a girl for me...." 

"Let me guess Camilla Moso...He never stops rubbing it on my face, how you two look good together...." She lets out a small chuckle...

"Sorry to disappoint you..Her name is Eve Minnie Raine, She is Mr Kamelo's niece...."

"You got to be kidding me...." There was a note of shock in her voice...

"Why, do you know her????"

Please God, let them not know each other....

"Of course I do...Ivie is one of my bestfriends from campus...."Shock and horror slammed into me... I couldn't seem to process what she had said....

"I wonder what the old man so in her...She is so full of innocence and definitely not your type...How can you be with a girl that hates violence???!" She shook her head in disappointment...

"The old man wants me to have some innocence in my life whatever the heck it means...."

"Your life is just fine..Only the cold and the ruthless survive Mandela...Plus she isn't even an easy catch...."

"I am sure flowers, gifts, romantic dinners and a vacation to Maldives will do the trick....."

"Trust me when I say she is different.  She wouldn't accept anything or go anywhere with you because her heart beats for only one man...Mason Marcias...."

"I don't care!!!!! I will kill him if I have to just to make her mine..." I said in a harsh cold tone, anger boiling inside of me...

She was only mine!! 

"What do you mean make her yours???You know you are just doing this for an year right???" She narrowed her eyes at me dangerously...

"Yeah I know....What I meant is that I can't let her be with someone else let alone when the old man has chosen her for me..." I explained defensively...

"I understand the pressure," She intertwined out hands and placed them on her lap," and the good news is Mason is no longer interested in Ivie...She had been waiting for him all these years only for him to come back with a wife and daughter..."

"How is that good news???She must be heartbroken and devastated...." I looked at her with obvious disbelief...

"Why do you care if she is heartbroken or not???" She frowned up at me...

"I just thought you would feel  sorry for her since you two are friends...."

Get a grip of your emotions Nicholas...Don't make it obvious the Eve girl has a very strong effect on you and that you can't stand to see her in pain... 

"I do but that's not gonna change the fact Mason is married.. All I want is you to take over the empire and finally get rid of the old man...."

"I am not getting rid of the old man Vivian!!!!!"

"Why not???He wants you to marry another girl and even though I seem okay with it after all this is done, I want his head as my wedding present from you...."

"You are crazy...." It's all I managed to say, pulling my hand away from her...

"I am never going to forgive him for this....How can he tell you to toss me aside like I am some trash?????"

"Stop being a drama queen!!!!You know I am doing this for us...."  

"I know but everytime I think about you marrying another woman, I feel this stabbing pain in my chest...."

My anger instantly shattered when tears cascaded down her cheeks....

"It's okay love, don't cry...." I pulled her to my chest and wrapped my arm around her...

"Promise me you will never kiss her or even look at her twice!! Swear that I will be the only woman you will want to spend the whole of your life with..."

"You are the only woman for me love...." I leaned closer to her and pressed a kiss on her forehead...

"I know and  If marrying Eve is what you need to do to finally take over the empire from that old man, I will support you all the way...."

"Thank you love for been understanding but how comes I don't know about Eve???I know all your friends...." I couldn't have thought in a million years that Eve and Vivian were friends...They were so different...,

"I didn't think it was important since she is not from our circles...." 

"Makes sense....."
