Pearl's POV

Peach walked me back to my office as I tried to regain my sanity. The whole scenario kept on playing in my head over and over again.

“How is me not remembering Greg an additional advantage to her?, why can't I remember him?, you remember him and so do Nash. I don't understand what is going on anymore, and I need answers, I really need answers” I was pacing around my office and I couldn't control myself from biting on my fingers real hard . Peach pulled it away from my mouth and made me sit down.

“You're panicking and trust me babe, it's not worth it, none of this are. Natasha, Greg, they're not worth a shit. You have a fight against Natasha, remember?” And now that she's here, things are gonna change” She held my shoulders as she said all this.

“But I need answers, maybe that will also let me understand why I should fight back this time” I said

“Now that i think about it, the only person who can answer that would be Suzy, you remember her right?” Of course, Suzy was Natasha’s best friend in secondary school before things fell apart for the two of them after school. Maybe it was due to the long distance, all we know is they stopped being friends and both ignored one another on social media.

“Yes” I replied by nodding my head.

“Fortunately enough, she's dating my brother and she's a little less bitchy nowadays

. So I'll call her now and try to hear her out. At least she should know something” She dipped her hand into her bag to retrieve her phone and placed a call to Suzy.

“Hey, sister in-law. Are you calling me that you've agreed to be one of my bridesmaid” I gave Peach a questionable look and she mouthed the word later.

“That.., I'll give you an answer to that later today. But I just need a little favor from you” She requested

“Okay, anything for you” And I died and woke up after hearing that. Maybe she's this nice because she's engaged to Peach’s brother, because the last time I knew her, she was as bitchy as ever.

“You remember Pearl Adams right?”

“Yeah, your high school best friend” she replied from the other end of the line

“Yes, do you think there's anything that might be connecting Pearl Adams,Natasha Collins who happens to be your best friend and Greg Daniel. Like did anything happen in school that linked them together” I couldn't breathe that moment as I wanted for the answer.

“Let me think for a minute” There was a pause at the other end of the line. “Yeah, something did happened between them then. It was actually during our prom/Halloween night, you remember how our prom night was also Halloween day and we all had to wear costume to our prom night. Even though many of us threw tantrums over that, we ended up agreeing to it” She laughed a little before she continued

“I don't really know what happened but at some point Natasha had drugged Pearl's drink that night saying she hated her guts and how she wants her to make fun of herself. She had successfully done that when she saw a primary school sweetheart who was also invited to the party”

“So did Pearl took the drink?” I stood up from my seat trying to get the whole information processed in my head.

“Be patient, kitten. And to your question. Yes, she took the drink and in her drunken state, I'm not sure but I think she saw Natasha making out with the other guy and went back to call Greg to see what Natasha was up to. I don't know what happened between the five of them in that room but all I know is four of them came back out but one didn't.” Why can't I remember any of all this. Even if I remember going to the Prom night, I don't remember anything.

“You're not going straight with your words, you said Pearl went to call Greg to see what Natasha and the other guy were doing. That's supposed to make four of them not five”

“The fifth person was Henry, Natasha boyfriend back then who also happen to be Greg's best friend and his shirt had blood when he came out”

“Okay, thank you so very much. I'm really grateful”

“You're welcome sweetheart, anytime” she was about dropping the call when Peach stopped her with the question that I dreaded most at that moment.

“Who didn't come out with the rest?”

“I don't know what happened to her in there but It was Pearl Adams” She dropped the call and Peach turned to face me as I looked back at her in confusion.

“Pearl, what is going on exactly” She inquired with a stern voice.

“I don't know, if I know, I won't be here looking for answers. All I remember was me going for prom night and waking up at home in Abuja Two weeks after. I also don't know” I placed my face on my hands as I tried to process what really happened.

“Maybe you should call your parents and ask them what they know about what happened” She tried consoling me after that which worked a little because I didn't get panic attack this time.

“Hey daddy.

. I just want to ask you one question, okay?. I don't have the strength to go into further details but Ill explain better another time” I said immediately he picked up my call.

“Okay, but is everything okay?”

He asked worriedly

“Yeah, I'm good. So, dad, did something big happened after my prom night that made you guys send me to Canada immediately I woke up?”

“Yes baby, something big really happened. We almost lost you darling but come home this weekend and we'll explain everything better” I nodded as if he'll see me from his end of the line.

“Okay daddy, I'll see you later then. I love you”

“Love you too, Meum” he dropped the call. I didn't even realize I was crying until Peach called my attention to it.

“I'm not crying because I'm hurt, Babe. I'm crying because I'm weak, I just can't do anything about myself. I'm going home, I need to rest” I stood up and picked my bag from the table and walked out of the office with Peach behind me.

I drove out of the office compound not without making a promise to Peach. A promise to take good care of myself and not to ask Natasha anything. I got home and saw Greg in the living room watching a football match and totally engrossed in it.

“Hey, let's be civil with one another today. It's just one question I want to ask and I need just a simple answer from you”

“Its about your prom night in secondary school, okay?”

“Okay?, what about it?”

“What happened to the girl who went to call you?” His facial expression instantly changed to something I couldn't understand

“Why is that your business?” I stood up from the couch I sat on.

“I knew you wouldn't answer, so thanks for listening at least”

I was about turning and leaving when he mumbled something.

“What?, I didn't hear you?” I turned back to face him.

“I said she died, the girl died that night”.
