Sommy's POV

I promised Madam Jane that I would be there in five minutes but I failed. The traffic was as though my ancestors were against me getting there early.
I got out of the Keke, the hospital was just a street away from the therapy cclinic. Walking to the hospital would save me the traffic ja m emotional stress every Lagosian goes through.
"Dr. Sommy, be reasonable, let's just wait" "Didn't you hear what I told you? Bosco got  involved in an accident.
"I know but it's not as if he's dying" she snapped and i glared at her . "No death assumption here" "After you would want to argue that you don't like him. Look how nervous you are"
"Madam pay oh" The keke driver announced and we both shot our eyes at him. "For what?" We asked in unison. "From where to where?" I hissed then walked away.
After we arrived at the hospital, i gave my phone to Filda to hold then I walked towards the receptionist.
"Nurse weldone oh" "Aunty wehdone too. Abeg who you find?" "What room can I find John Bosco Bishop?" I asked, "He's in ward 6" She didn't even need to look at the log book.

"Thanks" I answered leaving the counter then I started looking into my hand bag in search for my phone. "Have you seen my phone?" I asked turning backwards to see if I had left it on the receptionist's counter.
"It's with me" Filda answered raising it up and I collected it.
"Why didn't you give it to me?"
"You just gave it to me" she answered and I raised my brow in surprise

. "When?" I asked and she shook her head. "You better take it easy oh"
"I'm just really worried" I replied turning towards her direction.
"Just breathe in and out" she requested and I did. "How do you feel now"
"I still feel like crap. Filda this is all my fault." "No one is saying it's not your fault" Filda answered and I chuckled.
"Just take it easy" she added and I nodded. I turned to the front then saw Bosco's maid Nkechi coming towards us with a woman.
"Doctor good afternoon oh" she greeted, "Good afternoon, how your Oga?" I asked, "Oga don wake oh, I just want to cook come something"
"You no go since?"
"Doctor say make him no eat the food wey I bring" "Who is she?" I heard the woman ask, "It's Oga's doctor" she answered.  I saw her snigger.
"Dr. Sommy?" She asked and I widened my eyes in shock. I'm I missing something here? How come she knew who I was?
"We've not met but I've heard about you. I'm Mrs. Bishop"
"Bosco's mom. I'm Dr. Sommy Kalu, your son's therapist" I introduced and she stretched her right hand to shake me and I received her hand.
I heard Filda clear her throat so I turned to her, "This is my secretary and friend Filda, she's also a friend of Bosco" "Nice to meet you dear. I've only met few of Bosco's friends, quite honestly, I never knew he had that much friends" she blurted out and I gave a faint chuckle.
She seemed so relaxed. Madam Jane sounded really serious on phone.
"It was nice meeting you Ma but I have to go. I'm worried about him" "He's fine."
"I have to go"
"Can we talk for a moment?" "Ma" I paused.
"It will be brief. Filda, I hope you don't mind I steal your friend for a while"
"I don't Ma" she answered and we over to the lobby.
"Dr. Sommy Kalu" she muttered, "I know of one Dr. Kalu, he owns a  hospital. Do you know him?"
"He was my dad" "Are you serious?" She asked and I nodded. "I admired your him, your father was a diligent philanthropist" she complimented and I almost rolled my eyes.
"Do you know how many people your father sponsored to school abroad? He was just like my husband"
"Your father has been a close friend of the family. It's so surprising how you got entangled in this. It's a small world" she added and I faked a chuckle.
"What?" I think she noticed my lack of interest. "Speak up, you don't think your father was all of that?"
"Don't ask me Ma, I was an outcast in the family"
"Seriously?"
"Bosco has probably let you in with all these, why are you asking?"
"He hasn't said anything about your background, this is all me. I want to know"
"Why?" I asked, " My with all due respect, i care less about what you're saying right now cause I'm worried about Bosco"
"Bosco is fine" "What happened? Let me just see him for myself" "Before you talk to him, I want to talk to you"
"About what? You have to go straight to the point" "You're the reason why Bosco is right where he is right now" she began and I almost rolled my eyes again.
She was definitely going to put the blame on me. "You turned him down when he needed you the most"
"Did he tell you everything that happened? Before you blame me, why don't you hear my side of the story"
"Precisely why I called you. What's it between you and Bosco?"
"Nothing you should be worried about" "He told me about the kiss"
"He has a girlfriend"
"I know he likes you too" "He doesn't. He's just confused"
"Maybe, maybe not but right now my son needs you more than ever. Don't leave him when he needs your help the most"
"You don't understand, I left a cheating relationship. I can't let Isabel go through it. I'm doing this for myself too. I want to forget about him"
"Help him first"
"That sounds like something coming from a selfish mother. I get it, he's your son and you want him to get better"
"He told me he is getting better already with you" "Cause I'm his test subject. That was what he referred me as. A freaking test subject"
"He said that?" She asked and I nodded blinking back my tears.
"You have your choice to make. I'm not the kind of mother to influence her son's choice of woman but before you make any decision, I want you to know somethings about Bosco"
"What don't I know about him?"
"Bosco had an heart attack before the accident" she answered and I sat weakly on the chair studying the woman before me.
It wasn't a first. "How long has this been happening?"
"He had his first attack when he was almost thirty years old. Then he went on medication. I found out he hasn't used it for a year now. He has never had an attack until today"
"We've never spoken about his health. We've never had health discussion and" I paused then scoffed. "We're still getting to know each other."
"What do you know about Bosco?" She asked sitting with me.
"I know he's not your real son and... I know you and your late husband adopted him" "He was a cute boy, ten years old. God's own blessing to Anthony and I"
"You must really love him"
"As though he came out from my very own womb. Did he tell you it wasn't his first time undergoing therapy?" She asked and I shook my head.
"We only talk about his siblings and whatsoever pertains to his condition." "You're not his first therapist" "Why was he shy about the  thought of getting a therapist then?"
"You're the first he met pertaining to his sexual condition" she whispered looking around to make sure no one was listening in to us.

" His first visit to a therapist was to regain his memory, the second was to help him with his nightmares after he failed swimming lessons" She explained laughing as though recalling the incident.
"Did he tell you he drown while having swimming lessons?" She asked and I nodded and a soft chuckle escaped my lips.
"You said Bosco was trying to regain his memory... I don't understand"
"Ah...yes, he doesn't like speaking about it. He had an accident when he was ten"
"He told me it was a blow to his head. I didn't know it made him lose his memory. How come he still had his childhood memories?"
"That was why we got him a psychologist to help him out. He has twelve days memories missing from his life. He doesn't remember what happened after he left Uyo. He doesn't even remember how he came to Lagos"
"That's crazy he's thirty five... He should have recalled except...." I paused, except he has convinced or force his subconscious to forge t.
"He's intentionally pushing the memories away. That was what the lady said twenty five years ago. We just had to let it go. She said something bad must have happened and if we let him remember, it might break him forever. We might lose him that's why I've been careful with him. He's like an egg to me. I care about his well being and I don't want him to end up with someone who doesn't deserve him"
"I don't understand you Ma"
"I love my son and I care about him a lot and I want everything that would make him happy. If you being his therapist would give him the joy he wants, please i beg you with every thing I have, do it for him"
"At the expense of hurting Isabel cause I'm not promising that I won't kiss him if he does"
I heard her scoff then rose up from the seat. "It's a small world we live in Sommy. The world cannot be so tiny that of all people you got chosen to be my son's therapist. Maybe its fate." She paused smiling at me.
"Bosco cannot wait to see you, you can go now" she added then walked away leaving me with my thoughts.
I quietly walked into the room despite Filda's interrogation to know what Mrs Bishop and I spoke about.
Filda and I walked into the room. We saw Bosco with Isabel talking and holding hands.

. Tasha was at the other side of the room fidling with her phone.
"Sommy" he called out and all eyes fell on me.
"So she's the Dr. Sommy I've been hearing about for weeks now" she said and I faked a smile.
I saw Filda bat her eyes at Tasha. She still hasn't forgiven her for lying about being a client.
"I've heard a lot about you Doctor" she moved towards me pressing a hug against me. "I'm Isabel. Bosco speaks a lot about you" she pulled away and I saw her sister move towards her.
"Isabel, we need to go"
"Geez! I wonder why you're so jittery all of the sudden?" Filda asked and she hissed. "The smell in this room has managed to change all of the sudden. I can't breathe any longer." She waved her hands and Filda laughed pointing at her.
"See this one!" She snapped and Tasha walked out of the room. Bosco looked confused, he was totally clueless.
"Later baby" she pulled her lips closer to his then kissed him. Bosco kissed her back. I scratched my hair nervously then tightened my fist then i tried to mask my unhappiness with a smile.
Filda looked at me and I rolled my eyes, "What?" I whispered, "You're jealous" she mouthed and I batted my eyes at her.
Our gaze fell on the two couples who were still kissing. That had to be the longest kiss ever! I wished those lips were kissing me and not her.
"Get well soon for me baby" she pulled back then she left the room.
