Dance With Me - Episode 5

 

So, due to this, I thought it’s best if we try as much as possible to work hard within these three months so we can save enough to cover the loan so as not to lose the club.” Adams finalized. “So, any suggestion?”

The crews were the only ones left in the club and they were all seated in a corner of the club.

Candy raised a hand.

“Okay Candy.”

“Well, we still need a cocktail waitress Adams. While Marcy and Omega tend at the bar, I and Betty here are not enough to serve, most leave once they realized that they are not tended to on time.”

“Yes I understand Candy and I appreciate that suggestion . You remember it was my idea to hire two cocktail waitresses in the first place but that was when we realized that the court was no longer giving us six months, now we have been given three months  and we need to save money so we can meet up.” Adams explained.

“Yes, that is quite clear and understandable Boss, still if we lose half of our customers because we can’t serve them all at once and on time, think of how much  we will lose. Our prompt service is what attracts other customers here as we know that our club is not the only one in this area.” Betty explained.

For a while Adams was quiet.

“You are right. I guess we can hire one more person then

. So, who among those that came for an interview today do you think we could hire?” He asked, addressing Marcy and Omega.

“The fat one perhaps.” Omega joked.

“Hell no.” Marcy retorted.

“The other one doesn’t like smoke and that is not applicable here.” Adams emphasized.

“Well, then I guess we keep hoping someone else will show up then.” Marcy finally said and all of a sudden, the door of the club which had earlier been closed, opened, startling everyone.

 “Who are you and what are you doing here?” Candy demanded.

Adams recognized the lady in pink and this time, he could see her face clearly. Her emotions could easily be seen on her face, she looked like someone who had had a rough past but who would never stop fighting. Her eyes were a pool excitement and fear, beautiful than he could describe.

“I..I...” She started, looking at all of them but stopped as she sighted him.

“I come to say thank you for saving me earlier and I  heard you want to hire and I will like to work here please.” She said, directly to him as if others in the room mattered not.

For a while he was startled, who even comes for job in the middle of the night?

Adams looked around and realized that everyone in the room was looking at him, of course, who would they look at?
He needed to do something.

“What is your name?” He asked.

“Angeli...Angelica.” The lady replied.

“Well, then Angelica, it is late already but you come by ten tomorrow morning and you can start working immediately.”
The lady smiled and Adams felt like his heart just melted, he had never seen such a beauty in the universe.

“Thank you, goodnight.” She said and went back as mysteriously as she had come.

After she left, no one spoke. Adams was confused, was he stupid, did he just hire her , just like that? What would his crew think? Still he needed to act like the boss that he was.

“Well, I guess you just have the addition now Candy, I guess meeting is over or is there anything else?” The crew exchanged glances and shook their heads.

They exchanged their goodnights and everyone was getting ready to leave, minutes later, he was driving with Marcy, in his car. He always gave her a ride since they stayed in the same area at the south.

She has been quiet all the while and he knew that something was on her mind.

“Say it, I know you want to.”

“Say what?” She asked.

“The whole thing that happened earlier...” Adams replied, looking at her while focusing on the road.

‘I’m not saying anything.” She replied.

Adams sighed, “Ok, I’m sorry.”

“For what?” Marcy asked and then continued. “You are the boss, you can make decisions for yourself so there is no problem at all.”

Adams smiled, she was angry with him because she was the closest to him and she was used to being consulted before making any decision.

“I’m sorry, there is something about that girl that got to me and I just think she is the best for the job.”

“Without any letter? Without any reference or any background check, you just hired her like that?” Marcy asked again. That was when he finally realized a hint of jealousy in her tone.

Adams was surprised, he thought of parking the car but he changed his mind. True, he had carried out a background check and gone on extra measure on all of his recruits but with the lady, he just felt he could trust her.

“I’m sorry. I will apologize to everyone tomorrow. I just saw her and I thought I could trust her besides, we all needed a solution ASAP with the way candy was going about the whole thing. I’m sorry, don’t worry, once she comes tomorrow, we will sort things out.”

Marcy nodded but wasn’t listening, she had gotten to her house so she opened the door and climbed out of the car.

“Goodnight.” Adams shouted but she only waved without smiling or responding.

He smiled. Marcy could be a pain in the ass sometimes. With this, he started the car  and continued his journey.

When Adams got back to his house, he realized that his girlfriend hadn’t come home. That was not a surprised even though he had expected that she could at least pretended to still be interested in the relationship.

He dropped the key on the table, collapsed into his bed and shut his eyes, suddenly the lady in pink came to his memories. Angelica suited her perfectly. She was the best for the club, with her beauty, he was sure that more men would fill his club.

He couldn’t help but wonder how he had overheard the whole conversation about them needing another hand at the club but it was possible that she had seen the advert outside. Still it was the very first night of seeing her.

His mind drifted back to when he had met Rita, it was not like this. He had met Rita at a club and they had danced and kissed and made love and then realized they liked each other. She was pretty and they just hit it off. Then he was still working on getting a loan to set up the club.

Later after few weeks, he got the loan and he started working at the club, together with  Rita. He was the bartender while she worked as the waitress. One thing about her was that, she got the customers drooling with the way she laughed, flirted in harmless way and even danced. Shortly after, Marcy joined and then the rest.

He had seen Rita as his blessing and with the way things were going then, he knew that repaying the loan would not take long until she served a white customer who said he had been eyeing her for quite a while and who gave her his card. Told her she was better than being a waitress and that with that kind of beauty and cheerfulness, she would best fit into the cover of a magazine.

For weeks, she had kept this from him.

. He had only been concerned since she began to skip the club and would always come up with different excuses as to why she couldn’t come to the club. Then they had moved in together since they were working at the club.

Little did he know that she was doing another job until Marcy found out , told him and he demanded answers from her.

It was their first fight. How could she do that? How could she keep something that big from him? Her excuse was that she didn’t want break his heart and lose him and bla..bla...bla! He forgave her and told her she was free to do what she wanted to do but the truth was that, when she stopped working, things changed and they lost most customers that used to come and paying the loan became more difficult.

He wouldn’t have recruited Angeli if not because Candy kept talking about how much they needed an addition and now that he gave them what they wanted, they still hated him for it?

He sighed and tossed to the other side of the bed. He was the boss and he was free to make any irrational decision like that sometimes.

He adjusted his pillow and was covering himself with a blanket when he heard a car drove to the front of his house and then stopped. He quickly got up and pulled the curtain to see what was going on. His stomach tightened as he saw Rita getting down from Adrian’s car, he saw the man coming around to walk with her to the house. Then they stopped where he could easily see them, holding hands and smiling at each other, lovingly.

Okay, this was it!

Quickly, he rushed to her closet, hurriedly threw some of her things including her shoes into the bag and then pulled it after him.  By the time he opened the door, Adrian was already going back to his car.

“Hey!” He shouted, flinging Rita’s bag at her. Adrian stopped and turned around to see him.

“Hey man, sup?” He greeted but Adams climbed down the steps and pointed a finger to Rita who was looking at him, confused and surprised.

“We are done Rita! Go back to wherever you are coming from!” He shouted at her.

“What? What are you talking about!”

Adrian watched the drama from where he stood.

“I don’t bloody care. A man cannot keep dropping you in front of my house at some minutes past 2 in the morning every day, then you come here, hold each other lovingly and then come in to my house and pretend that all is okay! I am tired of being a fool! Just go with him, sleep with him and leave my life alone!”

Without waiting for anything, he went back into the house and locked the door after him. In a few seconds later, he could hear Adrian’s car driving out of the area and he knew that she had gone with him. She had left his life for good and he felt better-he could sleep well tonight.
