Crime To Love - Episode 7

 

Outside the black giant gate Cyril put the engine of his red Nissan Bluebird car to slumber and alighted from the car matched towards the gate. He knocked for three consecutive times, before it was opened by an eleven-year-old boy who was just a replica of Jennifer. His name is Christian, the last sibling of Chike’s “Good morning sir” the little boy greeted. Cyril was tripped for it seemed he had seen Jennifer . He asked him whether Chike was around which was his game plan because he was aware of Chike’s absenceas he expected a “NO” reply from the little boy. The little boy shook his head in negative response. He smiled and entered the gate starting up a friendly discussion with the little boy just to create familiarity throwing a question to him whether he has seen him before. But the innocent little boy looked at him very well, and recalled that he had seen his face in their house at Chike’s birthday. Cyril purposely asked of his father who had already come down from the staircase for he was becoming uncomfortable because the little boy that came to open the gate for the visitor who knocked at the gate has stayed a little bit longer, he really do not play with anything concerning Christian the little boy for he was his last child. On coming down he was surprised to see that the visitor was Cyril

. He was very happy and ushered him in because he loved Cyril as he was the one who made Chike understand the importance and reasons why one must read. He sat down in the parlour with the bottle of red wine before he casually asked of Jennifer but was told that she left for school minutes ago. He became uneasy for that was his purpose of even coming to the house. He just took a sip of the wine and told Chike’s father that he should be on his way for he only wanted to say hi, as he was on an official function fabricating a story of him coming around their street to visit one of his clients. He stood up and walked majestically to his car bringing back to life the engine of the car and drove out looking unfulfilled.

Along Ogurugu district right in front of Cyril’s office stood an elegant, beautiful and gorgeous lady with luggage stranded for some hours. It seemed all the vehicles went on few hours strike. Cyril, coming up to the direction of the lady, he was so speechless and thanked nature for such plans of it to make him meet Jennifer standing before his very own office, this is a day that he has termed a bad day because not being able to see her at home tells it that the probability of their meeting again will be only by chance. And behold the pretty damsel who has caused him some sleepless night and disfigured line of thought is standing before his office meaning that destiny has really had it that they both are meant to be. Another selfish question grew up in his mind which is obviously bringing out that pride in a man “Does it mean that she came looking for him? He sighed heavily and said, but after some emotional battle which he eventually conquered he whispered to his spirit “into your hands lord I commit this risky journey of love I’m about to embark into”.  Few meters before Jennifer, she began to wave at him to stop. He stopped and wind down the glass. Jennifer on seeing him became uneasy that even a person very far from her could hear her heart beat.

. She remained speechless and motionless. After a few moment of drama they both displayed with their eyes and face, Cyril came down from the car and helped her put all her luggage in his boot, Jennifer un-boldly entered the car without making a speech. Even when Cyril was talking to her, she was only nodding her head like a person who is deaf and dumb.

Jennifer couldn’t talk when she reached her to enter the public bus that would convey her to school. The only statement she made was “thanks a lot”. Cyril held her on the hands and asked “Do I really look bad that you could treat me in such manner”. Jennifer looked embarrassed and tried freeing her hand from his grips but Cyril actually held her tight. “Why say so…and how did I treat you?” she replied him. Cyril was then short of words and then asked her to then tell him, why she was uneasy when she saw him. “YOU KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION, AM SURE YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING AN ANSWER FROM ME, FOR THE HANDWRITTING IS WRITTEN ON THE WALL” she answered and left. Cyril called on her to give him her number but she said that it was not necessary; he followed her till she boarded a bus heading forEbonyi State. Cyril left the motor park unfulfilled and unhappy.
