He brought out his complementary card and kept it for her on the table, “you can call me on the phone when you regain yourself from the embarrassing visit I paid you. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way at all”, he then left the room with an unfulfilled heart.

Jennifer went to her bed and grabbed the pillow holding it tight with tears rolling down her chicks. Chizoba came out from the bathroom with the towel tied round her waist . “Jennifer why did you do a thing like that, why must you slap him even if he tried to strip you” How many times have I warned you to stop this your habit of slapping guys? You should just thank God that this guy was such a nice guy”. Chizoba told her.

“Chizoba it’s not what you think. I can’t withstand looking into his eyes. I only wanted to pretend that I was not feeling shy; you know how I hate intimidation”. “But that is not the best way to handle the situation; you took a very dangerous decision”

“I’m sorry I promise I will not do it again”

Chizoba smiled and jumped on her on top of the bed and asked,

“That guy is nice, go for him before someone else does. Don’t ever make the mistake of losing that boy, so this was the Cyril you told me about”

“Why not stop this and go and prepare for you lectures”

“I will go but think twice, this is a golden opportunity.

She stood up and wore her clothes and left for her lectures.

Jennifer felt guilty for everything and couldn’t do anything for that whole day.

Cyril had not recovered himself from the shock he received inside Jennifer’s room

. Throughout his lifetime a girl had never raised a hand on him. He was driving his car like a person who was driving to go and die. As he was behind his steering he continued to see the episode and the dialogue that took place between him and Jennifer. Right now he was battling with two things; he is afraid that Jennifer might go to the extent of telling her elder brother that his best friend had come all the way from Apata to Filey which is a journey of four hours to tell her all sorts of love words which guys had continued to tell girls in our day to day activities.

As Cyril was ruminating on this his solution less problem he missed his lane but before he could realize that, a very big trailer carrying cows all the way from the north collided with him and condemned the front of his one and only red Blue Bird. Cyril was managed to be brought out from the car by Mrs.  Anyanwu who witnessed the accident, His injury was very fatal. People around concluded that he was dead because he remained motionless and was not breathing. One of them called an ambulance and he was taken to the hospital in Apata for he had already reached the vicinity of Apata. Blood was gushing out from his body as if a tap of blood was purposely built there.

Dr. Smauel of the Christ the same Hospital concluded that Cyril was after some tests in the laboratory. It was only Mrs. Anyanwu, one of Cyril’s clients that insisted that Cyril was not dead, even when the doctor said that Cyril should be taken to the mortuary. The woman disagreed and told the doctor that her mind was telling her that Cyril was still alive. The doctor looked at her like a stupid woman.

. All that the doctor did to convince the woman so that Cyril will be taken to the mortuary proved abortive. He then asked them to take out Cyril from his hospital.

They moved to Chinemerem Hospital located a few meters away from Cyril’s chambers. Mrs. Anyanwu was already becoming tired of carrying Cyril from one hospital to the another she called Chike, Cyril’s friend because she knew Chike was his best friend and she has Chike’s number for there is no day she came to Cyril’s office and Chike was not found there. On informing Chike, he left everything he was doing and headed for Chinemerem hospital. When he came, he couldn’t withstand the sight of Cyril his friend. Cyril was fatally injured and was an eye-saw. Chike didn’t know when he burst out crying like a kid, but was consoled by Dr. Louis who gave him the whole assurance that with God his brother would not die. The way he reacted in the ward made everyone except Mrs. Anyanwu believe that he was Cyril’s brother.
