Crime To Love - Episode 10

 

Cyril’s attitude has become on the lips of his friends, anywhere they are. His recent attitudehas to be the topic of their discussion any time they are together taking some beer in a beer parlour. In Brick City Eating Café, Chike with this other three friends Onyeka, Chika and Paul rounded a table with bottles of beer. They were all drinking and laughing . After a while, Paul who is always fond of Cyril, anytime they came there to drink, asked;

          “Chike what about Cyril, has his legal practice eaten away all his time; that he can’t even have any little time to make merry as usual?”

Chike sighed heavily and told them that it was after his birthday that everything about Cyril changed. He stressed on the fact that Cyril, whom he used to know as a person who could not stay in a gathering of two or more persons without talking, can stay for a century without making any speech these days. All of them laughed because they saw no iota of truth in what he was saying due to the fact that Cyril was born an extrovert.

          “Believe you me Cyril changed automatically, the Cyril you used to know is no longer the Cyril of today, he has changed to something I can’t really figure out. The most confusing part of it is that Cyril stays indoors these days; he no longer go to the office, you hardly get him on phone his phone is always switched off, when you get to his home that his giant police dog cannot allow you in an his phone has been switched off for days now”.

          “This sounds incredible,”  said Onyeka “then something serious must have  happened to him, he may have been emotionally drowned” We have to do something fast before it gets out of hand,”  said Paul

. “The question is what do we do while we don’t even know his problem. Before any problem is solved, the problem must have to be known”. “I think we have to hear from the horse’s mouth”, said Chika.

As they were still contemplating what to do about Cyril’s sudden attitude, Paul who was from the same home town as Cyril suggested that it could be the death of his beloved ones many years back that came back again to his memory and he was now feeling drained emotionally. All of them in affirmation concluded that it was really the death of his beloved ones that changed him overnight. They all sympathized with him and had some minute’s silence for them.

Paul was a promising young man of about twenty-two.

. He had a frail physique and a dark complexion with shadowy eyelids housing his s**y eyes situated below his somewhat bushy eyebrow. Even at his age someone who saw him with his friends would always say that he was the youngest and the most handsome among them. Paul had always wanted to be a medical doctor but fate had made it that he was now a renowned banker in charge of the oceanic bank Plc branch Neboli. Amongst his friends, he was the richest guy. Naturally he had the tendency of staying in a happening place and he didn’t like moving with guys who didn’t make things happen. He met with Chika, Onyeka, Cyril and Chike at their final year in the University of Neboli. He really met them in one of the joints in the school when he had been humiliated by some cult guys in the school. He was rescued by Chike who naturally hated seeing a human created by God being humiliated by a fellow man all in the name of practicing cultism. In the University of Neboli all the cult boys on campus feared the four friends, not that they belonged to any but it was because of how they had continued to carry themselves in the campus. They didn’t eat shit from any human being.

Paul joined their group after being rescued from the hands of some cult guys who had been robbing, torturing and bullying him in every nook and cranny of the university environment. These five guys’ friendship grew to the extent that no one dared cause a scratch on any of their bodies and got scot-free.
