They decided to try science which meant they would have to go to America for at least two years while they go through all the procedures. Raymond and his family would be travelling back to the US after their marriage ceremony is complete and he has agreed to accommodate them and link them up with the doctors who helped them with their conceptions but Debo rejected their offer of accommodation but only implored them to help them get lease an apartment for the next two years. It wasn’t certain how long it would take before the procedure works and when it does, the foetus would have to take about ten months before it is mature enough to breathe on its own.
How they would tell her mother-in-law they were going abroad indefinitely, Chidinma had no idea . What they would tell her they were going abroad to do was another story entirely but one thing she knew was that the woman was definitely not coming along with them. If Debo suggests it which she is certain he won’t, Chidinma who oppose against his mother for the first time since they met and married. She can’t imagine the woman nagging her for the duration of the time they undergo the procedure and the emotional trauma she was sure going to inflict on her was not going to be good for conception. Her emotions have to be balanced

. How she was going to achieve that, she had no idea.
The door bell rang and the security guard promptly ran to the gate to check who was there. She and Debo were seated under a shed in their garden discussing about their plans and how they would manage their businesses in Nigeria while they were away.
“The man at the gate said he is Nelson and wants to see madam,” the gateman said after rushing to where they were.
“Nelson?” Chidinma asked turning to look at her husband, shocked.
“Let him in,” Debo ordered and the gateman went back to the gate to let the august visitor into the house.
“Why did you ask Sam to let the man into this house?” Chidinma demanded angrily.
“He must have come all the way from his house for something. Can’t turn him away. Let’s hear what he has to say.”
“I am certain that I don’t want to know.” She said looking anywhere but at her husband and the gate which was now opened to her nemesis who was approaching them.
“Good afternoon,” Nelson greeted. He didn’t know exactly what he was doing coming to Chidinma’s house especially on a Sunday but he didn’t know her schedule and where she worked so he could see her away from her home which would only remind him of what he didn’t have and what he couldn’t offer her. He looked at Debo who was merely putting on a sky blue and black polo shirt and a brown short and sandal. His attire was well put together and showed they were more expensive than his own entire wardrobe put together. He had worn his best clothes today and came straight from church where all his prayers were about receiving favour in the eyes of Chidinma so she could leave her rich husband and come to him.
“Good morning Nelson,” Debo replied. The gateman had immediately appeared with a seat for Nelson to seat on and Debo gestured for him to have his seat.
“How may we help you?” Chidinma asked harshly.
“Why don’t you offer our guest something to drink first, honey?”
“Pardon my manners, what would you like to drink?”
“Cold water would be fine,” Nelson replied. How he was going to present his case with the husband around was beyond him and Chidinma was doing everything to make it obvious that she didn’t care for his company. Maybe he should just dash out of their home and never come back but that would only make him a coward, a chicken and he would have to leave the rest of his live childless and in outright penury. That is not an option he is planning on considering. At least if she turns him down, he could proudly say that he gave it a shot. That he tried his possible best to win her over.
“You would want it ice cold. I can just imagine with the walk from the bus-stop to the gate then all the way to our home. A pity public transport don’t come into the estate,” Chidinma said sarcastically then left to get the water.
“I am sorry about that.” Debo said apologized.
“It’s okay. I am the one that should be apologizing, coming to your home unannounced and all but I needed to talk to you, well the both of you anyway and had no way of contacting you on phone so I had to come here directly.”
Debo didn’t say anything. He didn’t need to say anything. He didn’t know what to say anyway. Did the man seated in front of him come for the purpose of wooing his wife because they have been declared soul mates or something around that concept, he wondered. He was quite certain Chidinma wouldn’t even consider going back to him but that doesn’t mean he was happy about it.
Chidinma returned with a tray containing a bottle of cold water and a cup. “Drink to your heart content. You are really going to need it,” she said as she dropped the tray in front of him and returned to sit beside her husband. They watched in silence and reluctant patience as Nelson opened the bottle cap and poured himself the water which he promptly drank greedily. They still waited for him to talk after he had drank the water to his heart content but it looked like he was not ready to that. “So why are you here Nelson?” Chidinma asked irritably.
“Emmm,” he started nervously. “Emmmm, I...”
“You what?” Chidinma interrupted.
“Let the man talk,” her husband chastised, shutting Chidinma up. “Nelson, we are all ears”.
“Thank you. I really don’t want to come between you two”.
“Then what are you doing here?” Chidinma said under her breathe earning a cold stare from her husband.
“But I believe in the prophesy and so does Eunice and our families. I don’t think we should ignore it. If the prophesy says I and Chidinma are supposed to be together then i accept".
Chidinma laughs heartily. Her husband looks at her like she has grown another head. He could not fathom what was so amusing about their situation. "Emmm. Chidinma I know I cannot replace your husband but I can be good to you if you let me. Fate knows that I am the best man for you that is why it has been prophesized".
Nelson pauses waiting for Chidinma or Debo to say something. He could see amusement in Chidinma's eyes and that expression made him feel stupid. When he looked at Debo, he saw anger, suppressed anger which could explode at any point in time. It made him feel scared. What did he expect when he came to meet a man to tell him to divorce his wife so that he can be with her. This is just pure madness. 'I can't believe I am doing this,' Nelson thought to himself.
"Are you done with your little speech?" Chidinma asked when she realised Nelson was not saying anything. He merely noded in reply. "Listen to me and listen good. I don't believe in prophesies. I write my own destiny and what i have written as my destiny is to be with my husband for the rest of my life even if I have to remain childless to do so..."
"God forbid bad thing," Adunni shouts from behind then. They all turn around to see her charging towards them angrily. "Not in my son's house. I gave birth to my son so surely he must also father a child and since they said you cannot have a child with him i don't see what you are still doing here."
"Mummy..." Debo groaned.
"Don't mummy me. I have had it up to here with you and this woman. Has she put a spell on you to blind you from the truth, let me know so that i can run around to make sure the spell is removed," Adunni said angrily to Debo then faced Nelson. "You have come to take her away abi?"
"Yes ma," Nelson replied.
Adunni faced Chidinma. "Time for you to leave my son's house. Pack your things and go. Let another woman who can give me a grandchild come into this house."
Chidinma stood up and went into the house without saying a word. Debo stands up angrily and faced his mother angrily. "Mummy this is the last time I will ask you to stop terrorising my wife. If you continue then it means you would prefer to simply see us occasionally because i will take my wife and leave this house."
"Accept the truth Debo. Open your eyes and see the truth before it is too late. I don't want you to be taking your child to primary school in your old age."
Debo does not reply, he simply faced Nelson. "You. You saw that I let you spout all your nonsense earlier. Now that you have had your say, if I ever see you anywhere around my wife again or you try propisitioning her with your nonsense again I will have you arrested. She is not interested and she will remain uninterested forever. Get out of my house this minute." Debo angrily goes after his wife.
"Don't worry. She will come to you. You cannot change destiny jare," Adunni said to Nelson.
"Thank you for your support ma. I will be leaving now ma," Nelson said and leaves as well.
Alone now in the garden, Adunni turns towards the house. "You this woman, if you would not leave my son's house peacefully, then you would leave by force".
