Chidinma was getting fed up with Nelson always coming to her shop wanting to talk to her. Her employees now have a standing order to make sure he does not get into the premises but still he lurks outside and tries to approach her once she stepped outside the security of her business. She needed to talk to someone about what is going on. Someone outside her family and her husband.
Last weekend, her family summoned her concerning Nelson . Apparrently he had visited her parents and convinced them to plead his cause. They told her to give the matter a positive thougt which she had immediately interrupted to mean she should do what is best for her future which according to her mother is procreating.
So she called Raymond to discuss the matter with him. Someone out the family that would be affected by the situation. Someone that knows her and Nelson pretty well as they had all attended secondary school together.
"Are you for real?" Raymond asked Chidinma, totally astonished by what she just told him.
"I am  and I need you to advise me on how to handle the matter. I can't leave my husband for Nelson. I love Debo and he loves me. Baby or no baby. I really just want to get Nelson off my back, get him to move on so that he can leave us in peace".
They were in Chidinma's car outside her shop

. Chidinma didn't want any of her employees finding out what is going on in her life and gossiping about it. "I warned Nelson when he told me he was dating Eunice."
"He told you?" Chidinma asked surprised.
"Yes. He chatted me up when he wanted to start the affair and I warned him against it. But you sef, your shakara was too much. If I had been in his shoes I would have also left but the difference is that I would not have gone for your friend not to talk of your best friend".
"That is besides the point Ray. How do I get him to leave me and my husband alone. I will never be his wife, never," Chidinma said in desperation.
"Let me talk to him. Maybe I will be able to get through to him. Personally I don't believe all this prophesy shit. It was prophesized that my wife will not be able to conceive with another man because she was destined for some missing prince in her village. But here we are today, we have two lovely kids though conceived through IVF. What I am saying is if the prophesy were to be true, the IVF would not have worked at all," Raymond explained. "Do you see my point?"
"Kind of. I hope when you explain it that way to your friend, he will see yoyr point as well," she said. "Do you still have his contact?"
"I believe he maintained the same number all this years".
Chidinma shrugged in reply. "I dont't know," she said with the gesture.
Raymond looked at the time. "Chi, sorry I have to get going now. I have to wedding shopping with my wife".
"Okay," Chidinma replied. They hugged and Raymond got out of the car. "I will call you as soon as I speak to him," he said. Chidinma got out of the car as well with Raymond. The two said goodbye again and Raymond headed towards his car parked a couple of feet away from Chidinma's car while Chidinma waited for him to drive off before heading back to her store.
"Raymond," a voice called out from afar. Chidinma and Raymond looked in the direction of the voice to see Nelson walking towards Raymond. He looked really happy to see his old friend. "Raymond, wow. Is that really you? When did you get back into the country," Nelson asked excitedly.
The two men greeted each with a shake and a hug. "I have been back for almost three weeks now?"
"Almost three weeks and you couldn't get in touch with me. Not fair man."
"Sorry bro, been preparing for my wedding. The entire thing has kept me busy," Raymond explained.
"You are getting married, congratulations."
"Thank you. So how is your wife, emmm Eunice."
"Getting divorced," Nelson said sadly and looked at Chidinma's direction. Chidinma immediately turned away to head back into her store. She didn't want to be anywhere around Nelson.
"Sorry man,"Raymond said.
"Oh don't worry about me. I am not sorry at least not really. It is for the best. I will soon be getting married again. All i need to do is to rewrite the past somehow," Nelson said, feeling confident that eventually he will get Chidinma to see things his way.
"What past are you trying to rewrite?" Raymond asked, tring to sound confused.
"Have you seen Chidinma?"
"Yes. We just parted when I saw you. I didn't know you guys are now talking after you left her for her best friend".
"No we are not. I am trying to get into her good books so we can get talking again and hopefully things will progress from there".
"Nelson she is married. Happily married to be precise," Raymond said angrily.
"Who is ever happy in a marriage without a child. My friend there is more to the story between I and Chidinma than what meets the ordinary eyes. Lets go somewhere and talk or are you in a hurry?"
"I was surprised to meet my wife but i will just call her to inform her that I have been held up".
.............................................
Raymond called Romoke to inform her that he would not be able to meet her for reasons he will explain to her later. After that he and Nelson went to a bar to talk. The bar was empty because of the time of the day and they were practically the only customer in the premises. The two men ordered a bottle of beer each which they drank while Nelson explained everything to Raymond. He told Raymond about the Eunice, the pregnancy, the prophesy, the ongoing divorce and begging Chidinma.
"That is why I am going to need you to please help me talk to Chidinma. Tell her to accept fate and come to me since we are destined to be together," Nelson said then took another large gulp of his beer.
"Wow, this is so unbelieveable. You and Chidinma. I told you then not to get sucked into Eunice's web but you did not listen," Raymond said.
"I was tired of a girl that didn't really know what she wanted. Always blowing hot and cold. I saw someone who knew her mind. Knew what she wanted and went for it".
"And where did that leave you?" Raymond asked irritatedly.
"Are you gojng to help me fix the past or not?" Nelson asked annoyingly.
"Listen I don't think destroying her marriage is the solution. She still won't love you or come to you. She loves her husband, Debo. I have seen the two of them together. They really love each other. I think you should try to get your wife back or move on with your life with someone else. It is not right to break up their marriage because of what some prophesy said. I personally do not believe in it."
"I believe."
"Well everyone has something they put their fate in but personally I have reasons to be skeptical about such things. My wife Romoke was not supposed to have a child with a man apart from the prince she was bethrothed to in her village, according to the prophesy seen the day she was born. But here we are, we have two love children".
"Well you are lucky. Maybe the prophesy was wrong. I believe this prophesy is right. It said I cannot have living children with Eunice and it came to pass. After trying for years to conceive, the first baby died before it was even born at all. So you see this prophesy is correct," Nelson said.
"Maybe it was just coincidence. Maybe the baby was already very tired from all the complications. Medically there must be an explanation to what happened," Raymond said trying to be convincing. It was proving to be difficult because Nelson looked like he was set in his belief.
"You are talking like you are not a Nigerian. You know not everything in our world is as it seems".
"Well I believe you need to get your wife back and try again. The result might be different this time around".
Nelson looked pained as he remembered the near death experience Eunice went through trying to conceive their baby. "No. I can't let her go through that again. She nearly died. I prefer to let her go, knowing she is alive and fine somewhere".
"You still love her?" Raymond asked.
"With all my heart," Nelson replied.
