Chains That Bind Us - Episode 14
Debo was worried. Something is wrong with Chidinma. She has been acting strange lately. Always distracted, irritated and going out unexpectedly without telling him where she is going to. Everything she had been doing was unlike her and very suspicious so Debo decided to do some digging himself.
Chidinma was out again, beautifully dressed to impress. She didn't say anything to him or his mother
. Just picked up her car keys and left. Adunni came out of the kitchen then. "Where has your wife gone to again," she asked. Even she has noticed Chidinma strange movement. Surprisingly the older woman has simply watched silently. She even went to the pastor again. He told her to calmly watch while they continue praying for their family.
"I am going out." Debo said as he stood up to pick his car keys from the center table.
"Wait don't follow her," Adunni said.
"I have to," he said as he left the house hurriedly to his car. Chidinma had already driven her car out of the compound.
"Don't comfront her," Adunni shouted out to him as she rushed after him. Whetger he heard her or not, Debo didn't give a sign, he simply entered his car and drove out of the compound, following his wife. He sighted her car turning at the end of the street just as he drove out of the compound so he sped up so as not to lose her once she got to the main road.
Meanwhile, Adunni immediately called the pastor once Debo was out

. She explained to the pastor. "You told him not to comfront her right," the Pastor asked.
"Yes I did. I am not sure if he heard me though. He was very angry and distracted," she replied.
"I was just going to call you to inform them that I would like to see both of them at the church. Please inform them to see me as soon as possible".
"Okay Pastor".
"May God be with you".
"Amen," Adunni said and ended the call.

Chidinma arrived at her destination. It was the restaurant Nelson had brought ger to. She parked her car, alighted and went inside. Nelson was waiting for her. They hugged each other and sat down.
"I am very hungry," she said as she took her seat.
Debo entered the restaurant just then. Sighted them and approached them. "Hello Nelson. My wife didn't tell me she was coming to see you," he said as he sat with them.
"Were you following me?" Chidinma asked suspiciously.
"No was going out and saw this place. Decided since my wife didn't prepare lunch, I should grab something to eat here".
"And why do I think that is a lie".
"Well that is because you think everyone should sneak around like you are doing. Let me ask you one question. Why are you here with him?"
"Do I need your permission to hang out with someone?" Chidinma asked.
"Why are you here with him Chidinma? What are you doing with him? Have you had a change of heart?" Debo asked shakily. He was scared of her answer but he had to know.
"As a matter of fact, yes. I have been looking for a way to break it to you for a while now. I want out of this unfruitful union. I want a child of my own and since I can't have that with you, then I will go to the person I can have a child with. I want a divorce." She stood up and left.
Both men stared at her retreating back, shocked. Debo turned slowly to look at Nelson who was still sitting there. "You won," he said then stood up to leave.
Nelson raised his hands up in victory. He didn't know or care to know what changed her mind. All he knew was that his future now looked very very bright.
