VIVIAN'S POV

*Here lies Tiffany Ebison

Mother and wife

Hardworking and God fearing

She'll be greatly missed by her son and husband*

I looked up at him in total surprise as I realized the date of death is the same as that of Indira's.

I was scared to ask about what happened to her or which hospital she had died. I was too scared to go into an emotional bout again.

“Can we leave here, I mean right now . Maybe I'll get to apologise to her another day” I said with my voice shaking from emotions.

“That's not fair though, she actually deserves an apology all right” he said ignoring my emotions.

“Please” I pleased for him to let us leave the place before I start crying. I had refused to mourn for Indira today because I felt she's had enough of my cries and now all she need is peace.

He took my hand and even though I refused at some point, he only tightened his hold on my hand as we made our way back to his car.

“Vivian” he called out

“Yes” I answered waiting for him to start the car so we could be on our way.

“I know what you're thinking” he said

“I guess you're only guessing and you're not even anywhere near that” I replied thinking he was going to talk about my attitude at the graveside

“I won't start this car if you refuse to play the game of twenty questions with me”

“You're joking, right?” I asked but when I saw the look at his face, I knew he was too serious to be joking

“Are you going to agree to this?, Or try breaking out of that window with your so strong arms?” He asked the last part making fun of my skinny arms

“ I'm not that violent”

“You can tell that to trees, maybe they will accept it from you. So, yes to the deal, or no” he asked

“Yes” I finally gave in when I realized that disagreeing won't yield anything good.

“You know how to play the game, right” I nodded to confirm his question.

“What's your favorite colour” he asked

“Black”

“What?, I thought most girls like pink ,or something similar to that

. Why on Earth would you even like black?” The surprise was evident on his face.

“It's my turn now, what do you want from me apart from this challenge of yours? I asked and he looked at me for a while before replying

“Because you're different” he replied

“In what way?” I asked

“I don't know, you just seem to be a good friend, someone who's gone through so many and still managed to stand as one piece” he answered

“I have two questions to ask, first, will you go to a nice place with me right now?” that was new

“Okay, but first, where are you taking me?”

“It's a surprise” he replied as he started the car.

“You brought me to Starbucks, are you really serious?” I asked out of amusement as he parked his car in front of the place I've grown to love ever since I moved here.

“I thought you'll like it”

“I love it” I replied happily

“Can you please bring two cups of coffee and a sandwich to table eight?” He told one of the waitress behind a desk before leading the way to table eight.

“I once worked at a coffee shop like this in Jaipur” I declared all of a sudden. He looked at me and smiled for a bit.

“Did you really enjoyed working there?” he asked

“Yes, because I had something then that was far greater than any other thing”

“But now”

“It's all gone.

. I'm just empty” I said with a dry smile.

The coffee and sandwich were brought to our table by a waitress who kept on orgling him with her eyes. If only I told myself and promised myself to keep my craziness at bay when I'm outside, I would have emptied the whole cup of hot coffee on her.

Modern day Barbie

If only looks could kill, she'll be long gone

“Can I ask you two more questions?”

He inquired

“Since I don't have anymore questions to ask you, kindly go on bombarding me with questions”

“What happened to you?” I shifted a little bit on my seat thinking if I should trust this human or not.

Even Teq doesn't have an idea about what had happened and this guy I just met days back wants me to trust him.

It's not possible, I can't fall for his charms.

“It's better you don't go through that street, it's not possible because nothing happened to me” I answered

“You don't want to tell me, or you don't trust me enough to tell me”

“Both” I replied before taking a sip from the coffee in front of me.

“Before your second question, what's your name apart from the Nigerian one?”

“Chris, short for Christian” he replied and I nodded

“Will you date me?” What followed was bouts of cough as I tried to hide the embarrassment.

He quickly rushed over to my side and used the tissue paper on the table to clean up the mess I made.

“I'm so sorry, I was just taken by surprise”

“It's okay, but are you sure you're fine now?” He asked out of concern and I shaked my head positively

“I'm really sorry Chris. I can't date you neither can I even be close to you. Because that'll mean I'm going against my promise to myself and even losing the bet to you and that's not in anyway possible. I'm so sorry” I gave him my sincere answer.

“My heart is broken but it's okay. I'll keep courting you till you say yes. If you end up…..” he stopped talking when his eye caught something and when I turned to look at what got his attention, I realized it was a man in his late or early fifties standing with a girl who would pass for the age of my younger sister smiling at a table behind us.

“What's wrong , Chris?” I asked and instead of replying he made his way to the cashier and paid for what we bought before dragging me away from the shop.

I pulled out my hand forcefully away from his and then he turned to reveal a face I've never seen before. Angry one at that.

“What was that all about?”

“I'm so sorry I made a scene back there. I just couldn't stay and watch him being happy after everything he did to my mom and i. I just couldn't bear seeing him without strangling him or hitting him”

“Who are you talking about?, Who was that? Talk to me Chris, please?

“My father” he replied with his face buried in his hands
