A Glint Of Hope - Episode 2

 

Vivian’s POV

“Have you seen the latest guy on campus?, he's freaking cute and hot. You'll fall in love with him” My roommate, Tequila squealed beside me.

“As big as the whole of NYU is, you think I'll be able to identify one guy as new and the other as old specimen?” I asked with disgust evident on my face.

“Ooh, at least you admitted it for the first time that NYU guys are super cute” She blushed at her own statement. Tequila has always been cute, I met her during our freshman year when she was trying to find a roommate for her dorm room . The school had given every student the right to get a roommate for their selves if they get to the room first.

She had walked up to me asking if I was Arabian and I said no, she felt bad because she had actually thought she would get an Arabian for a roommate. But still… she choose me and here we are, in a lecture room that was supposed to be my class and not Tequila’s class. Only God know how she managed to get in without the lecturer noticing her.

“I didn't admit to that and why are you blushing, don't tell me you are crushing on this new guy” I asked which earned me a frown from her.

“I'm not blushing and I'm not in any way attracted to this guy, not him though. But are you still going for the trek this summer?” The trek is one of the adventure that the students engaged in during summer

. I didn't attend the first one during my freshman year but after a really serious persuasion from Teq during the second year, I reluctantly succumbed and went with them. It was much fun and I totally enjoyed myself.

“Let me focus Teq, not everybody wishes to have carry over courses like some people” I said trying to focus on the lecturer.

“Just because I have two carry over from last semester doesn't mean I should die, at least I'm from a home where I don't care if I pass or fail. After I graduate, all I need to do is get married to a fine specimen that my dad has already inspected and live the life of a madam ever after” She said smiling like a’ idiot.

“Just be careful, marriage isn't all it seems. It's full of thorns sometimes” I advised and she looked at me weirdly.

“Why do you always talk about marriage as if you've been in one. Old ass woman”

Only if you know Teq. I muttered under my breath

“We'll talk about the trek later, just wait for me at the cafeteria, I'll see you in a few minutes” I looked over at my side to see that she wasn't moving an inch from her position.

“What?” I mouthed to her

“You just told me to get out and I won't forgive you for this. Meet me later at the cafeteria and let le explain how you'll die by my hands” she stomped out of the hall loud enough to get the whole class attention. I quietly shrieked back into my seat so I won't die of stare and attention.

“So, what's up about the Trek, where are we going this time?” I asked Teq immediately I got out from the lecture room. I was able to ask her that fast because the witch won't budge an inch away from the hall’s door.

“The venue and date of departure has not been announced at all. But the big news is that, five more colleges are going to join us on this trek, making over twenty students this year. It's going to be huge fun”

“How will it be fun when we are that much?, I'm not going this year then” I confirmed

“You don't mean it, you have to go.

. Moreover all of us are not going to the same location. Maybe same area but our camps will definitely be different” I nodded trying to make sense from what she had said.

“About the new guy, I heard he's an online fashion model and he's joining us for the trek too. He's not attending NYU though but I guess his university is also joining us for the trek. More reason why you see new faces.”

“That's true though. So of all the new faces, you only saw the guy. But do you use all your leisure time to gossip around?. God bless your soul and give you enough sense to see that you'll soon run mad with all this” she started laughing really hard that I had to, wonder what was that funny.

“Anyway, thank you for your complain, it is not accepted. I want you to meet my brother. He's cute, super hot that I want to hook you guys together and get you married but I have to let you guys meet first before I decide the wedding date” I was so focused on her that I didn't even look at the person in front of me.

“Meet my brother, brother meet my best friend and my roommate, Vivian” I looked up to see the person and to my surprise it was someone I didn't expect to see in the whole of New york.

“Hey Aditi, long time no see”

I missed you so much that I had to rush back from August and start telling the story in July(it's not Me, it's The book talking).
