When A Woman Wants.. - Episode 14

 

ROSA
They were all in Debby’s room, the ten of them. These were the ladies that had one or two things to do in the house. Porsha and Dora, the two middle aged women who were the cooks, Ella and Perri, the two pretty ladies who were responsible for Debby’s facials, hair and clothing. They were also Rosa’s enemies, she didn’t know why but they disliked her and she disliked them. They never got along . Lana, she was in charge of the flowers and other stuffs, Rosa couldn’t quite place what she did in the house. Bridget, Cynthia, Tatia and Bree, the maids, in charge of cleaning, laundry and other dirty stuff then herself, Rosa, Debby’s personal P.A on everything.
They stood as she addressed them while sitting on her bed, Ella was re-painting her toe-nails; she was the only one who squatted.
“SO, like I was saying, we have someone very important in this house and as it is expected of me, being the Queen of this glorious mansion, our prince will be staying here and he needs someone to  tend to him.”
There was a murmur of excitement amongst the ladies, Rosa scoffed, as far as she is concerned, Debby can never choose her so she could relax.
“Quiet. We only need one lady”

. Rosa was surprised as she was the only one whose hands were not raised.

Debby looked around them, thought for a while and then said. “Rosa, you will be his attendant!”
Rosa thought probably her ears were deceiving her.
 “Alright, the rest of you, bye.” 

The others glared at Rosa as they passed her one by one, one of them almost pushed her but she said nothing. Soon, it was just the two of them in the room.
“Debby, why would you do something like that to me? Why would you choose me?” Rosa demanded, angrily.
“Because, my dear, I can choose you to do anything I want remember you work for me?” Replied Debby as she admired her painted nails.
Rosa moved closer to her, she was losing her mind.
“Debby, I cannot face Francis please. I can’t, I beg of you, not after everything you did to him”

Debby looked up at her, she seemed surprised and pleased.
“Oh! You mean after everything we did to him!”
“What! I didn’t do anything to him.” Rosa retorted.
“Sure you did. Remember you were the one who gave me all the information about his dad. So, I am as guilty as you are.”
Rosa couldn’t believe her ears, could this be true. What had she done?
“By the way, his room is at the west section and your job starts tonight, off you go.”
If Rosa hadn’t felt a little hatred for Debby before, she felt it now. Saying nothing, she walked out of the room.
She soon found the room; it was easy as it was the only one at the west wing of the mansion. 

She deliberated on whether to knock or just open the door. Just then the door was opened and Peri’s face came into view, followed by Ella’s.
“See who we have here” Perri teased
“Oh, it’s Debby’s cat” Ella replied.
“What are you doing here?”Peri demanded her face full of hatred.
“I...I was the one chosen. Remember?” Rosa replied.
“Oh look at her. The chosen one!” Ella put in and laughed wickedly.
“Well, you can go in, we won’t disturb you, he is not in the room, we only came to sort some things out to help you and we are done. You should check his study room, it’s a mess and it’s just at the right corner of the room” With that being said by Perri, they left her alone and walked back the way she had come.
Rosa exhaled. She was getting tired of these two fools. She stepped in and shut the door behind her.
The room was quite big and elegant. The walls were extravagantly painted white. The golden chandelier tangled from the painted ceiling. The bed was king-sized covered with beige silk covers.
There was a 42” TV flat screen on the wall which was displaying CNN. There were sliding closets opposite the bed. She walked to the beautifully arched window. She drew the curtain apart; the view from there was really beautiful. She could see green field below down to the lake and past the mountains. 
“Wow!”
She needed to check the study room as Peri had said. She had said something about right corner of the room. Rosa walked down and spotted a curtain at the right hand corner of the room; she drew it aside and opened the glassy door. Immediately, she was confronted by a naked man and she covered a face.
“What are you doing in my bathroom?”
She was as embarrassed as she covered her face. “I am so sorry, I thought it was the study” she ran out of the bathroom back to the bedroom.
Great! This had started perfectly! She had run into a naked Francis! Dear God, she was close to losing her mind.
Soon, she heard the door open and closed. The footsteps got closer and stopped just behind her. She froze-unable to turn around.
“You are still here lady?”
His voice was the same…it was all too familiar.
“Are you clothed please?” she asked
“Why don’t you check? It didn’t bother you when you barged into me in the bathroom, why are you so concerned now?”
She sighed and turned around with a hand over her face, she noticed a clean white towel wrapped around his torso while another was around his neck.
She relaxed unable to meet his gaze. “I am really sorry Francis, I was told it was the study and that you were not in the room. I didn’t mean to…’’
“Rosa? Is that you?”
She swallowed and nodded, avoiding his gaze.
He chuckled and walked to the mirror.

. “I could have guessed she would send you. I actually thought you would have left her, I guess your bond is pretty tight” 

Rosa glanced slightly at him; he was creaming his curly hair. He was bare to his waist and it was really making her uncomfortable.
“She had sent you to spy on me right?”
Rosa shook her head. “The reason she assigned me is best known to her.”
“We both know the truth Rosa” He replied with a smile, mischief twinkled in his eyes, which she caught in the mirror, she flushed and looked away. Was it that it’s been long she saw him or why was he looking so attractive it was making her uneasy?
“If you do not need me Francis, I will let you be. Or you can ask for someone else”
“Oh! But I do.  Remember we got along very well unless I’m making you uncomfortable which I quite understand. But you can go now; I have no use for you right now. We can start afresh tomorrow”
Rosa exhaled. She walked blindly out of the room. Out at last. The next thing to do was to go meet Debby and give her a piece of her mind.
