Zela had left the office without much suspicion but that had been a wake up call. He needed caution. He sighed in relief. That was definitely it for Mari, she had proven to be immature and unstable. That is what happens to people when they had nothing to lose. He, on the other hand, risked everything. He prided himself in being able to read people, understand them and be master over them. He knew Zela, if she found out she would be out the door . He could never lose her. He would do anything to keep her.

"What happened after you dropped her off, Lando?"

"She went into the house. I do not go inside the house, Sir."

"She is so stupid! How dare she come into my offices and cause a scene? What if Zela had walked in on her act? That can never happen!" He started pacing. Nothing was worth this much trouble.

"I gave her your message,Sir."

"Is she moving out?"

"She said she wouldn't."

"That is fine, Lando. I will deal with it. Thank you."

That was his cue. Lando took his leave. Geoffrey Lando, his most trusted hench men. He got him the ladies and then got rid of them. Ladies and other things of shame

. This was his dance of death. Zela could never know. There was nothing money couldn't achieve and where it failed blackmail always worked. Mari refused to go quietly it would seem, nothing new there.

It was almost ironic that Lando would regard him with such respect considering that he had raised him, well relatively. His old man was a good father, still is. Lando had been the old man's protege and once the old man retired he had requested to be attached to Dialo. Lando was after all a soldier, and soldiers never rest. They only die.

Dialo could not even remember which social gathering had introduce Mari to him but they had met in a party. She had been convivial but oddly aloof. That intrigued him because in his expreience women were naturally drawn to him. She had left in the middle of the party and it had taken Lando all of one try to find her. They had met for drinks, then lunches, then dinners, then hotel rooms and soon her newly purchased apartment. He had been so lured to her. Still was. She was nothing like the rest, simply astoninshing. It pained him grossly to have to call it quits but she was the one who had refused to tow the line. She wanted more. She said she deserved more. Him.

He would move back to his offices in Karen within a month. That calmed him, he was a man of control and he just did not feel at home in this premises. Zela had assurred him that the designs would be done before the lapse of the month once he had given her his specifications. He trusted her, she would do it.

His eye twitched when he thought of how close his life had come to crashing into pieces. Mari had actually run into Zela. If Mari had not been throwing fits, she would have recognized her. Zela's imprint was all over him. Her potrait was on his desk, her scent was always on him and they were literally merged into one. Mari actually had knowledge of Zela's image. She had once screamed her head off about her being his screen saver and wall paper. Just minutes before burging out of his offices, she had told him that Zela's potrait on his desk was a trigger for her. Whatever that means. He could only thank his lucky stars.

For one second he thought about mongamy and then abandoned that thought altogether. He couldn't keep one woman. Besides, Zela and him were not per se compatible. Their attraction was immense and that was mainly because of their distinctive personalities. Whereas he was aggressive, Zela preferred to be genteel. Whereas he was laid baid, Zela was a worrier and constantly lamented. Whereas he was outgoing, Zela was introverted. Zela was for all intents and purposes a lady, that was the reason he loved her so. He would always come home to her but a man needed his outlet. He needed his fun. Sometimes he felt that she was too reserved for him, he was too worldly for her but he did not want to change that so he got himself a Mari to save his marriage. The thinking was skewed but the results spoke for themselves. And though distinguished, Zela was exasperating. No one could wound him like she could and she loved to do it. She focused on dominating him and to his chargin she mostly succeeded. He needed to distance himself from her for his own good.

He dialed his phone and Zela picked on the second ring.

"Darling,"

"Hi, Dialo."

"Can we go out of town on the weekend?"

"No can do. I have alot of work..."

"Not on the weeend, you don't."

"Dialo please. You said you need the office done by end of the month."

"No. I said in a month. Don't use that as an excuse. Besides, you have people for that. You are not the one doing the upholstery, are you?"

"That's not what upholstery means. Moving to the issue at hand, may I think about it?"

"No. My assistant needs to make the arrangements today."

"It's Tuesday. There is still time. Let's talk about it at home."

"Do you like me whining?

"Dialo please..."

"No, I always have to beg you to spend time with me. Always. I just want us to have a relaxed fun weekend. Really, what is there to think about?"

"Oh my God...okay..."

"Thank you, my love. See you at home."

He hung up the phone in jubiliation. He had big plans for the weekend. As God was his witness, he would concieve his first child.
