"He's gone". Mother cried, but who was gone? I asked myself out loud. That was when mother knew I never understood the word gone.
So she tried in explaining that word gone to me in a way I can understand. Ada, you know my Tommy was geting bigger before? I said yes because you were eating too much food. Mother laughed and I was so happy that I made her laugh . After a long time.
Then she took my hands and placed them on her belly saying "your baby brother was in here", then I said mama why did you eat my baby brother? She laughed again and said no my daughter I didn't eat your brother he was growing up in there. Oh mama so was I like that before ? I asked her then she replied saying yes my princess you were.
So where is he now? I asked. Mother said crying "he didn't like it here so he went back to God." Ok I said
Now my grandparents were not taking it easy on mother again. They now saw her as the reason behind Dad has refusing to take another wife.
But mother like any other African woman, who wants no trouble with in laws, but wants her home to be peaceful took it all in and didn't let Dad know that his family still disturbed herher even after he has told them to stay away.
Time soon past.
Seconds turned in to minutes, minutes into hours, hours into days and so on but their was no signs of pregnancy or child to show for the long wait.
Then mother went to father that it was time he did what his parents always wanted from him. Getting another wife.
Father shouted "WHAT!" have you gone mad or what? I won't take another wife "never" said father.
Now after this talk with mother, father traveled the next day to LagosLagos for work and stayed one month before he returned.
On his arrival we noticed something odd about father.
He has changed from being a loving father and husband ,
to being an aggressive man who sees nothing good in others again.
And this made people to start gossiping about our family
