The God And His Bride - Episode 16

 

I watch as Liang pulls Ezra closer, Ezra is doing nothing, just watching him.

"What are you doing here?" Liang growls and I watch him bring his hand up.

"No, Liang, please" I say, tears choking my voice, Ezra can't get this hurt.

"Mila, take Star inside"

"Liang, you should stop" Mila says.

"Mila!" He growls.

"Come on Star" Mila is saying but I'm already taking steps to them.

"Babe" Jeter says, his hand on my elbow but I dislodge it.

"Star, stay away" Liang is saying but my eyes are glued to Ezra's, why would he come here? Doesn't he know the bad blood between him and my family?

I gently unwrap Liang's fist from Ezra's shirt.

"Liang, please" I say and he finally let's go.

"Come on" I say to Ezra and he follows, his eyes going to Jeter.

Mine follows too but I don't day anything, I'm going to explain later, very much later.

Ezra limps after  me and I take him directly to the den, it's a garage my dad modified into a chilling room.

I don't say a word to him as he sits, I begin to look around for the first aid box. 

I settle into a stool as I begin to clean his busted lip and eye. 

"Aren't you going to say anything?" He asks, I don't respond, not because I lack words but just because I don't know what to say, is this the part where I ask him what he is doing here? Why he followed me home? Or perhaps why he left me 5 years ago after we had a 2 years and 8 months relationship that led us to getting engaged. 

"I have nothing to say to you" I say, dabbing on his wounded lip. 

His hands come up to hold my hand. 

"Star..." 

"I'm going to treat your wound and you are going to get in your car drive off, away from my life" 

"I can't do that baby" 

"Please.. Please Ezra, don't be selfish and do the right human thing for once in your life" 

"You are here Star, How can i go away" 

"You found it easy to that last time Ezra, it shouldn't be much of a feat" 

"Star" 

"What do you want from me Kane?! What do you want? Why are you here now after all these years? Now when I've finally found happiness and my life is on a right track?" I ask, standing up and throwing the cotton wool on the table. 

I notice vaguely that blood is still seeping through the bandage I placed on his mouth.

"I have nothing to say to you" 

"I have things I need to tell you" 

"Well, there's nothing you have to say that I'm interested in" I say and he sighs, blood finally overwhelming the band aid and bleeding out. 

I frown.

"Star.." He begins, I interrupt. 

"Why isn't your blood clotting?" i ask, my hand going to his face, his eyes become heated and I finally notice that our skins are touching. 

I know that look, that's the look he gets when he.... 

"You must have a death wish son" My dad's voice rumbles and we both turn to him. 

"Daddy" I start, he's holding his gun, as a retired soldier it's bad when your father is holding a gun to your ex who broke your heart. 

"Daddy that's enough" 

"Walk, son" He says. 

Ezra must have a death wish because he turns to me instead of moving. 

"Star" 

"Ezra, just go" I say and takes a step. 

"Kane.." My dad starts. 

"That's enough daddy" 

"I'm going to see you later star, I'm just.." 

"You will be seeing her nowhere, walk" Daddy says and Ezra moves, limping out, turning to look at me before moving out. 

"What was that Star, Why is he here?" 

"Nothing daddy" 

"Don't tell me nothing girl, that boy is bad news, did you go around looking for him when you saw the accident the other day? Star you know better than that..." 

"Daddy for goodness sake, have a little faith in me, I did nothing of that sort, I know you think I might still be in love with him but I'm not, you can tell mum and the both of you can just rest easy" 

"Baby..." My mum's voice says from behind me and I turn to see her, Mila, Liang and Jeter standing there. 

"Jesus.." I breath, refusing to look at any of them as I walk past. 

I hear footsteps behind me and I turn. 

"Lets talk later, okay? I will see you at the hospital" I say to Jeter, turning to walk away. 

He holds me back, pulling me until we are around the house, away from the eyes of my family. 

"I'm not judging you baby, we have our pasts, it's cool to have yours, but don't do that, don't hide from me or try to push me away, don't... I'm here" He says and I sigh, my head falling, resting on his chest. 

We stay like that for a while before I speak. 

"Why are you so good to me?" 

"You belong to me Star, I have no other option" He says and I raise my head. 

His eyes go to my lip before coming to my eyes. 

I know what he wants, it isn't that I don't want to but I can't. 

His eyes comes to me and I shake my head slowly, "Jet.. We can't" 

"Trust me" He whispers before bending his head to kiss me. 

Not for a minute this time, not for a second but for longer, a real kiss, my real life first kiss. 

When he lifts his head to kiss my neck I breath out a.. "How...?" 

"I have my ways baby girl" He says and I blink, twice. 

Not once in my life have I been able to kiss a man, not once, they all step back because they either get shocked or they get wounded. 

I don't know what causes it but I always thought I was cursed. 

"Jeter" 

"I'm going to kiss you again"
