The God And His Bride - Episode 18

 

I knew something had been wrong, I had tried to hide my worry but I know that something had been unbelievably wrong.

After Jeter had left earlier today I had waited in my room for the storm that is Liang to pass before getting dressed and leaving the house.

I'm not returning today, no, not until I find out what is wrong.

"Hello Mark" I say to the doctor I saw with Ezra the other night. 

He turns and I smile at him, Mark is a young doctor, I don't know him that well but I know he's a good guy but a bit of a womanizer. 

"Wow, Star Marx, to what or whom do I owe this pleasure?" He asks, handing off a chart to a nurse. 

I smile, I really do not know what to say or ask what is on my mind. 

I know which ward Mark works in, I know what goes on there, I'm a doctor in this hospital, I just don't want to think exactly what Ezra was doing there. 

"I have a question for you Mark, that is if you don't mind" 

"Oh no, please, go on" 

"Ezra,Ezra Kane, the man you were with yesterday, could you tell me why he was here?" 

"Why Star, are you asking me to break the doctor patient confidentiality for you?" He asks cheekily and I take a deep breath, this was a mistake. 

"I'm sorry, this was.. I'm sorry" I say taking a step back, I can't do this, I can't be this jumbled, this is what Ezra turns me to, a mess, a ball of messy emotions. 

"Woah Woah, calm down, I was only joking with you, yeesh, I saw the way you too were the last time, I presumed that you both know each other, you should talk to him now, before it's too late, that's all I can say" He says and I nod, my eyes falling close, sh*t, there's something to talk about then. 

"Thanks Mark" I say with a broken whisper, he nods. 

"You are welcome, since that is done, what do you say about a drink sometime later?" 

I shake my head. 

"I'm sorry Mark, I'm with someone" 

"No problem Star, you can hit me up with questions anytime" he says and I nod, moving away from him. 

I have to think, my head Is too muddled to think. 

I walk into the elevator and rest my head, I'm alone in it and that's marvellous if you ask me. 

I try to come to a conclusion, Its good to put things in spec.

I sigh as I hitch my bag higher up my shoulder, I'm done for today and since I won't be going home I don't really know what to do. 

I suddenly feel dizzy and I don't know what's causing it. 

I left my car at home today so I'm already outside the hospitals visitor's parking lot. 

I sway, my hands going to hold anything around me to steady myself. I look around and I don't see anyone around, Great, no one's going to rescue me if I suddenly faint. 

What's going on? 

Am I coming down with something? I vaguely hear a car stop somewhere in the parking lot but I'm trying to focus on seeing ahead of me. 

"Star?" A voice asks and I turn to see Ezra standing in front of his car. 

It's hits me, this is the reason I'm feeling like this, the pain hits me at once. 

"Star, I was about to go find you" Ezra says and I take a good look at him

He's looking pale and not like the Ezra I used to know. 

Oh gods. 

I know, I suddenly know what is wrong. 

"Ezra..." I whisper. 

"Star, can we talk? Can we go somewhere and talk? Please?" 

"Ezra..." I whisper again, tears filling my eyes. 

Oh gods. My mind whispers again. 

Ezra is dying, He's dying, It's so obvious now, The pain I feel when I have to save a life comes upon me. 

"Star.." 

"Ezra,you have to let me save you" I say and he blinks before sighing, suddenly deflating. 

"I see you found out, I wanted us to talk Star, smoothen things out, I wanted to make amends before this cancer takes me." 

Oh gods, it's cancer. 

"Ezra..." I whisper, gathering my strength and taking a step to him, he holds himself still as my hands take his face. 

"It's been so long since I saw you up close star" He says, breathing slowly, his hands coming to my face. 

I try to focus on the pain in my stomach, trying to bring it up as healing energy so that.. So that. 

"Child!" A voice whispers on my ear and my concentration breaks. 

I know that voice. 

That's Starr, The name I gave dream guy, that's his voice.

Alixi. 

It's been so long since I stepped into this realm, So long. I must say that nothing has changed, there are still humans on earth and they are still as weak as ever. 

I feel every little thing as I stand here in this hospital, taking my human body was demeaning so here I am, stuck in the body of this doctor. 

I almost growl in disgust at the thoughts of the man, His name must be Mark, Mark is a sorry excuse for a living being, his head is filed with thoughts of girls and how he can do demeaning things to them. 

I can't wait to be out of him, first I have to get to my bride and set her straight, like Maia said. 

I close my eyes as I search through the hospital that I know she works in, trying to find her. 

I feel her energy somewhere off the building and she's with a man. 

I growl, can she not stay away from men? 

I pull my energy out of the perverted Mark as I make my way to her, sweeping through the hospital in a matter of seconds. 

As I pass in suddenly feel another energy, a stronger energy and I pause, this is god energy and it does not feel familiar. 

I want to explore but I have it get to my bride first, we must talk, her and I. 

I find her and its not surprising that she's about to throw her life away saving someone. 

"Child!" I yell into her head, she can't do this here, I'm not in the realm, I can't do anything about her soul if she dies now, if the gods take her now. 

She doesn't listen to me, the stupid girl and I sigh as she tries to concentrate her magic on the man. 

I look at him, I know him, he wanted what was mine, once upon a time. 

I feel the shift as she begins to concentrate her magic on the human, healing him. 

She can't, she will die. 

There's only one way. 

This is going to be a bother.

Star. 

Before I can do anything I feel static in the air, Ezra steps out of my reach before bending and groaning. 

From over here I see the blood leaking out of his eyes and nose. 

"Ezra.? "

"Something is wrong Star" He says his voice broken and in a whisper. 

"Ezra!" I shout as his body hits the parking lot ground and it begins to convulse. 

"Somebody help me! Help us!" I shout. 

Oh gods, oh gods.

"Help Us!" I shout, crouching in front of him. 

My hands go to his face and his closed eyes flies open. 

"Child" He says before passing out.
