Scars - Episode 2
Her
DAY 1 (evening)
“Baby! Anyone home? Baby!”
He called out more and more. He was at a lost where she could have gone to.
Fifteen years ago she had all the reasons in the world to let go, but she had stayed back. He remembered her words clearly, “I will stay for a miracle, and I will leave when I don’t get one” these words hunted him daily. He prays daily for her to get her miracle, he loved their union more than he could imagine.
He kept searching the length and breadth of the apartment and still no sign of her.
So, she finally left.
That one pleasurable mistake that has hunted him down
. All thanks to his “amazing” friends who pressured and sweet talked him into the mess he got into. “How does a man spend the rest of his life with one woman?” They would ask him. Some other time they would say “When a commodity does not satisfy the consumer, the consumer switches”. Believe you me, for him, it indeed was a slow fade.
Somehow, he found himself sleeping with any beautifully curved creature in skirts. It was always fun, until she caught him making love to his secretary on their matrimonial bed.
With no ado, she walked out of the room and had his launch served. He was terrified at her calmness, her smile drained life out of him

“You don’t have to explain nothing” she interrupted him rather calmly. “Just go see the doctor and make sure you have no infections. And know this, I will stay for a miracle, and I will leave when I so not get one”. She stood up to leave, then she stopped and said to him, “Tell that lady to tender her resignation later before noon tomorrow”. He watched her walk to the boys’ quarter.

. And that was it. She never mentioned it again.
“Hello sweetie” A tap on his shoulder brought him back to the present. “What were you thinking about?” She inquired. “I was wondering where you possibly could be.”
“George, am here, I always will be here. You should have checked the boys’ quarter, I was sorting some belongings of mine”
“I thought, you had left” he said. Staring at her he continued, “Baby, I thought you wore the white dress I got for you to work, what happened?” Her eyes reddened. She smiled at him and replied “I did. I got stained.”
He felt terrible for ever asking. He knows she has been doing all she can to get pregnant, and yet, it always was futile.
“Baby, we still have lots of years ahead of us, we can always make babies” he tried to sound encouraging, but he knew she would not listen.
“Thank you for the patronage” she said with a mock smile. “I smell my pizza, tell me its near by”
He watched her eyes glitter like some two years old girl who was about to get some chocolate for being good . “It is in the bedroom” he said with a smile.
She pecked him and ran to the bedroom.
She was his miracle.
