Convincing his brother to wait for the next private jet was easy. He needed to travel to Amsterdam on important business. Sure, his brother also had important business to handle but his was time sensitive. A witness was about to make a statement that would see their father locked up for a very long time and neither of them could let that happen. They both loved him immensely because despite being shady, he was a great dad . Besides, they would not be living the lives they were had it not been for their father. The change was so sudden that even the pilot only got the new coordinates after the hatch was closed.
The plane had bearly left their line of site when they were assaulted by a large explosion followed by a mega heat wave. He watched in despair as bits of the jet fell from the sky. He and his brother had their differences but they loved each other more than they hated each other. He also had this sick feeling at the pit of his stomach that the bomb was meant for him which made the pain over his brother's loss that much worse.
He turned to hug his mom who'd escorted them to see them off. Losing a child is the most difficult thing, and watching it happen is even worse. He could relate because not so long ago, he'd almost lost his son. He could remember that as the plane fell his only thought was saving his son

. Even on that godforsaken island, his son's survival and the hope of meeting his daughter some day were the only things keeping him alive. One thing however was for sure, someone didn't want him meeting his wife bad enough to try and kill him, twice. First with the EMP now with this bomb. It couldn't be Olivia, she may be able radical at times but even if she hated him, she would never put their son in harms way. That was sure. No mother would ever do that. And considering how badly she'd wanted a family, he could tell, she just wouldn't. Whoever was behind this would wish they never heard the name Alejandro Reverte Montero once he found out who they are.
Three hours later, when his flight arrived, he asked the driver to take their mother home. He'd talked her into not telling anyone but their dad that Eduardo was the one who was dead.
"Won't you stay son? I need you."
"I'm sorry, I can't delay this much longer. I'll be back before the funeral mami. Tell papi I'll call a friend at the Hague to take care of his little problem for him."
"Just be safe my darling. Make sure you bring my granddaughter home. I'd love to meet her."
He gives her a kiss and leads his son to the waiting plane. By the time they took off, news of Alejandro Montero's death had been circulating the news for a while.
Luckily it was an uneventful flight. Once they landed, he took a cab to her place. He didn't want to wait for the limo to avoid attracting unwanted attention. He knew whoever wanted him dead had to believe they had succeeded if he was to get his son back to his mother safely.
The security let him pass because they still remembered him. He'd asked to be the one to see her and not have someone announce his presence. She was in the living room. His daughter was asleep on the couch and she was pouring herself a drink her back to them. If she felt their presence, she chose to ignore it. He walked up to her and put his arms around her waist. He could tell she'd been crying.
"Hello my love," he whispered into her  ears then gave her a kiss. She turned in his arms to face him and a sob escapes her lips.
"Alex, is it really you? Am I hallucinating this? Are you really here?"
He smiles, she still loves him despite all his mistakes, "Yes dear, it's really me."
She hugs him so tightly as if to reassure herself he's not a ghost he finds it hard to breath.
"I was so devastated, first you are dead, then you're alive, then you're dead again..."
"Ssh! It okay. What matters is that we are here now."
That jolts her back to the present. Her eyes readjust to take in the room.

. That's when she sees him. He'd been quietly watching them the entire time. She detaches herself from Alex and moves to him. He looks so much like Alex, the only difference is the eyes. He got her almond coloured eyes. He smiles, he also got her charming smile. She knees buckle and she falls. She smiles back at him and draws him into a tight hug, "I'm never letting you out of my site again," she says inhaling the scent of his silky, dark hair. Her daughter stirs awake and the first thing she sees is the man she'd only seen in the pictures her mom showed her smiling at her. He walks up to her and carries her into his arms, "Hi mija. I've waited an eternity for this," he says kissing her forehead and giving her a hug.
