"I'm trying dad!"
"Clearly not hard enough."
"But dad,..."
"No Connor. You know perfectly well the prophecy concerning this family and the chosen child of each generation. It's why we worked so hard to ensure you followed the right path."
"The chosen child is destined for greatness, good or bad depending on how they are raised. Raised the right way, they bring light to the darkness of life that's many people's destiny . But left to the darkness, they could bring the very end no one is ready for... in cataclysmic proportions."
"Exactly..."
"C'mon mommy. That's just a fairy tale."
"So you think that is something we should ignore. Not find your daughter?"
"Don't mistake me. I still very much would love to find her. But for the right reasons, not because of some stupid ancient prophecy."
"Do you know how our family name changed from the South African Nzozi to the west African Abayomi?"
"No. How?"
"A hundred years ago, while the white men still ruled the land Mfa, as she was popularly known, the chosen child of her generation was stolen from her home, shipped to work in the mines in the west. Tragedy struck shortly after, all her living relatives, those that were meant to protect her but failed ended up dying, one after the other till none were left

. A few years into slavery, she managed to escape. Ran straight to a small kingdom, miles away from the mines. There she resolved to stay, lay some roots and start afresh. It was during this sojourn that she met Prince Chukuemeka Abayomi, air to the throne.
They fell in love but due to the fact that she was a foreigner whose origin no one knew, everyone was against their union. So, she decided to leave. However, on the night before she left, Chukuemeka could not contain himself and ended up committing a great abomination. Out of spite, Mfa, in a moment of blind rage murdered the king and queen as revenge. She was captured and set for execution in the next blood moon that was to be three months after she was captured. However, as time went by, the people realized she was with child. The possible heir to the sitting Igwe. So the elders called the high priest to seek council. He made the prophecy concerning Mfa come to light and warned of disastrous consequences should the execution take place. He advised the Igwe to take Mfa as his wife as planned and raise the child accordingly. He did. But she was never happy, the pedestal she had placed him on had fallen so as soon as he died twenty years later, she took her children and returned here, where we have lived since. So you see son, thus is not just a fairytale as you call it. It's very much real."
Mbabane did not want to argue with his mother so he just shrugged.
"Okay mother, I'll travel there Monday to personally find out what's going on."
......................................
Monday morning,
"So you'll be coming to Madrid with the twins in the evening?" He asks wearing his coat.
"Of course my love. I'll... We'll be there for you in this difficult time," she says adjusting his tie and drawing him in for a kiss.
"Thanks."
"Don't. What are families for, right. As it is, you're still mine and I'm still yours."
He smiles and gives her a hug, " I love you."
"I love you too.

. Try not to crash this plane and give me a heart attack thinking you've died for real this time."
"I'll try, but I'm not making promises," he says smirking.
"If you try it, I'll simply forget you and get my man toy full time," she teases him hiding a smile. She knows she's pressed a volatile button but she feels naughty so she pushes it.
His eyes darken and narrow upon registering what she's said, "Excuse me?"
"You heard me."
"You wouldn't dare."
"Then don't dare giving me another scare. I can only let you break my heart so many times."
"So someone has been warming my side of the bed while I was away?"
"Give me some credit. I would never bring some random guy to my house for a good f*k..."
"That wasn't a funny joke," he interrupts her exhaling a breath he hadn't realized he'd held.
"I wasn't joking, I was going to add 'that's what hotels are for' when you interrupted me."
His heart misses a beat. He couldn't tell whether or not she was joking because she had an excellent poker face. But why would she toy around with him like that this early in the morning?
"So do we have an accord?" She asks breaking his train of thoughts. She could see the effort it was taking him not to blow a fuse. She was dying with laughter on the inside but kept her face passive. She loved the hold she had on him.
"I'm not leaving," he shocks her by saying. She however recovers fast and hides it before he can detect it.
"Why?" She feigns ignorance.
"I'll wait for you to round up your business. No need it wasting fuel by making two trips."
"Since when did you become a conservative? I thought you were all about living fast and dying young."
"Since I decided to be a better role model to my kids."
"Uh huh, right," she replies stifling a laugh and going to the bathroom, " I'll be a couple of hours," she says through the door.
After a quick shower, she grabs a coffee to go and gets into the waiting  escalade.
