Palm lines 2 - Episode 13

 

Ade's POV

After the dinner, Shirley and I stepped out of the house. 
 "Thanks for coming along with me" I said to her and she smiled. "The pleasure is all mine" she answered and then I saw Felix kiss Sharon and I looked away and Shirley kissed me too. 
"There's no way he can make you jealous now" she whispered playing with my cheek and I chuckled.
I soon drove her to her house and she invited me in. "Wanna talk about the dinner?" She asked and I shook my head.
"I don't . Thanks for having my back"
"I do all I do because I love you and besides I'm your girlfriend, what other duty do I have"
"I feel like i don't deserve someone like you" 
"Sometimes I also feel undeserving of you too" she kissed me and I wrapped my arms around her waist and she unbuttoned my shirt. We moved to the chair and she climbed over me taking off her shoes then we resumed kissing.

I woke up on Shirley's bed and I  went into the kitchen to prepare something with the limited ingredients present.
I dropped the tray with scorched eggs and tea on the bed,  "Breakfast in bed" I whispered into her ears and she opened up her eyes smiling. 
"Good morning" she smiled then she sat up folding her legs. "There wasn't much I could do, you had little ingredient"
"You know that I don't cook" 
"Good morning to you too" I replied and she brought her lips close for a kiss and I kissed her. 
"How was your night?" I asked and she smiled. 
"It was perfect and I could get used to it" 

Sharon stopped by, she was apparently waiting for Aunt Kechi

. Revealing to her that she won't show up early,  we spoke at length. 
Aunt Kechi came by with Aunt Vera who used her sneaky and trickish rhetorical questions to get information about me having s*x with Shirley. 
I felt awkward about Sharon knowing, I tried avoiding eye contact with her till she left. 
In the night just when I was about to close, I saw Tasha walk into the restaurant. I was surprised, firstly I wondered how she got to know where I lived, I searched in my mind, reasons why she would come but I found none. 
"Hello" she waved and I gave a gentle nod. 
"First you're wondering why I'm here and how In the world I got this address. It's a global world, all I had to do is search and then I ordered for a ride online and voila, I'm here"
"You haven't answered the why you're here part"
"Oh.. true" she moved closer.
"I was hungry for a Continental dish. You have how many awarda already. I'll really like to taste something made from you" she answered and and I chuckled.
"What would you like?"
"Surprise me" she bit her lower lip and I chuckled. "We're kind of closed" 
"Are you going to disappoint me?" 
"My girlfriend is waiting for me" 
"You're sweet, like ice cream. I see why Sharon was so hooked all those years. "Can I get ice cream?" She requested and I went in to get it. 
I placed it her front and she smiled. "Thanks. About the way I spoke to you the other day, that's my other reason for coming. I'm really sorry" 
"It's okay. There were no hard feelings" "Wow..." She scooped the Ice cream with the spoon then she looked at it. 
"How am I sure it's not poisoned?" She asked and I laughed. "Why would I?" 
"Show me proof?" She requested and I moved close to her and she dipped it in my mouth. "See!" I exclaimed and she licked the spoon. 
Suddenly she climbed the chair then she sat on the counter spreading her legs, "Let me not beat about the bush, I'm here because I like you. From the moment I saw you at the party, I think you're really hot and maybe Sharon's blind but I'm not" she moved her lips close to mine and I moved back.
"Should I remind you that I have a girlfriend" 
"I don't mind, I'm hotter than she is, I'm way hotter than Sharon, I'll make love to you in unimagineable ways" she took off her top remaining her a pink bra. "Please put on your top let's talk like civilized people" I requested and she moved her hands down my trousers region and I held her hands.
"You've overstayed your welcome" I held her hands towards the door. "You're hurting me!" She complained and I opened the door. 
"Out of my restaurant." I snapped and she wore her top. 
"F*ck you!" She retorted back and I scoffed.
"For your information Miss Tasha, you're not hotter than Sharon. You can never be hotter than Sharon even if you stand close to Mercury you can never be as hot as Sharon. You're just a skinny white b*tch looking for attention, go find your attention elsewhere. This guy's not stupid." I concluded and she scratched her wrist leaving.

Sharon's POV
Aunt Kechi called me on Tuesday just after coming back from Tuni's house. She said she missed me and she would really like to see me and talk to me.
"Let's meet at Crown Prime" she suggested, of all places!
"Why crown prime? There are other places" "Don't you know I only eat at Crown Prime and I also advise my clients to eat there too?" she asked and I roll my eyes.
"You would have known if you hadn't stayed four years without visiting. Four years Sharon, four good years" she emphasized and I rolled my eyes again.
"Why are you now dishing your complains now? Are you trying to make me feel bad or something?" "No. We haven't had time to speak like we usually do when you were new to sex and all of that" she stated and it took me down memory lane. 
"I'll be there in twenty or thirty minutes" I answered. The weather seemed cloudy but I dress up anyways and I drove over to crown prime. To my surprise, she was no where to be found so I called her this time.
"Where are you?"
"We're being held up in this traffic we'll be there in ten minutes"  
Ayo came out in a pink polo with Crown prime imprinted on it. He had an apron over it and a pen in his mouth while talking to one of his employees who wore the same uniform. 
Our eyes met and I waved at him and he waved back. 
I quickly took a seat and I looked through the menu on the table. 
"Good afternoon" he greeted and I responded back with a smile. "What do you want?"
"Nothing, just water. I'm supposed to meet with Aunt Kechi. She said she'll be here in ten minutes and I'm waiting" 
"And you believed her" he asked and 
"Haven't you heard?" He asked taking a seat close to me and I wondered what?
 "Well over the years, your unrelated Aunt Keche adopted a "tell clients lies' ideology and it's a habit to lie about her current location. She might even be at work as we speak"
"The things I've missed" 
"Yeah" he answered and we both stared at each other until I broke the stare looking at the menu again.
"I'm sorry about what Tasha said to you last night" 
"Everyman is entitled to their opinion" She didn't mean what she said, she was just defending me" I answered and he scoffed.
"You say that like we're against you. No one is against you"
"Seriously? That's what they all say until they bring up the history of me staying back in America for four years and it's annoying cause I've apologized a million times"
"I've forgiven you"
"Is your girlfriend aware that you have cause she hasn't forgiven me yet or maybe she wants me sending her a separate apology note"
"Why would you think that way?" 
"What's that statement again, it's nice to meet the girl who broke Ade's heart" I complained and he laughed.
"You've always been the kind to hold grudges so I'm not surprised" he answered and I scoffed.
"I don't keep grudges" 
"Are you sure? Should I open your book of grudges? The first part and the sequel?" He asked and I laughed. "Your girlfriend sounded more angry remember when she said, I'm the only one madly in love with this guy. I'm only trying to mend the broken pieces of his heart and hoping he'll someday love me." 
"Did you have it recorded somewhere?" He asked and I gibbed. "She didn't mean it that way, she was just defending me"He answered and I chuckled in disbelief. 
"Dishing the same excuse i gave for Tasha"
"Are you sure you won't like to eat something before Aunt Kechi comes?" "I'm fine Ade. I never knew you had passion for cooking"
"Okay, how long has that been on your mind?"
He asked and I smiled. "Ever since I came" "Studying economics opened my eyes to a wide range of alternatives and prospectives. I realized I was a naturale when It came to cooking so I decided to go for it. It was difficult at first but it's been God all the way" 
"And you named it Crown Prime? Why? It sounds like a name of a hotel" I added and he laughed. 
"You just wanted to rub it in my face right?" He asked and I shook my head.
"That's my prospect too, building a hotel but I'll do that when i become a millionaire" He continued,  "I got the name from Ade which means Crown if you haven't forgotten your Yoruba" he added and I smiled and I became so lost staring at him until I heard Aunt Kechi's voice. 
"Sharon Baby!" She yelled and I turned towards her. She had a blue gown on and she was with Aunt Vera who had a native top and black trousers on. 
Ade stood up greeting them, "It's amazing how you grow beautiful everyday" Aunt Vera commented and I smiled, "Thank You Ma" Ade and I answered then we looked at each other.
"She was referring to me" I said to him and he shook his head.
"I believe she was referring to me" Ade argued and we both turned towards Aunt Vera who immediately busted into laughter. 
"This is weird but i was actually referring to Ade, it's something I say to him but you're beautiful too Sharon. " she commented and Ade laughed out loud and I raised my nose at him. 
"Is it just me or there's something different about you today Ade" Aunt Vera asked and I tried to decipher what. They both took their sit,  "He looks the same" I commented and Ade bent towards me leaning his hands on the table. 
"You say that like it's a bad thing"
"Well that's Aunt Vera's way of trying to get information from you. Watch and learn. She tells you there's something different about you only for you to say, oh is it my hair, I just changed my shampoo" he micmicked a ladies voice and I laughed. 
"I'm serious Ade. I heard you're  dating now, is it the s*x?" She asked and Ade immediately went quiet. There goes the answer to the question. 
My mind became disturbed. Ade rose up. 
"Oh my Gosh! Ade has finally broken his four years virginity" Kechi yelled and he scoffed. 
"You women need help"
"We'll take our usual!" She added then she looked at me.
"What do you want darling?"
"I'm not hungry. I'm fine" I just lost my appetite.
After Ade left, I unconsciously squeezed the menu on the table. "Sharon are you okay?" Aunt Vera asked and I nodded "Yeah, why won't I be?" I asked faking a smile. 

Erika's POV

David stopped by at the school, it had drizzled a bit that day and his face was wet when he walked into the office. "Hey dear" I stood up in shock. 
He didn't inform me that he would be coming. "Hey" he answered wiping off the rain water with an handkerchief. Then he gave me a half smile.
"Okay, should be worried?" I asked and he shook his head. 
"Business trip?" I asked and he shook his head. 
"Not exactly, family business, I've been summoned to be present in Benue" "Why?"
"I don't know, they didn't say but I think they don't want me to know that Mom is dead" he answered.
"I'm so sorry" I moved close to him in order to hug him or show sympathy suddenly he busted into laughter.
"I can't believe they think I'll cry or lose control. I've been waiting five years for Mom to die" he confessed and I restrained myself from laughing. 
"David you're crazy" I commented beating his chest playfully. "Since she looked me in the face and called me Pa Oloche, remember that day?"
"I do, remember she also called me Eunice and I had no idea who this Eunice was" 
 "That was the day my fasting and prayers for her death began and she even lived five years more. Give me a reason why I shouldn't thank God" he answered and I chuckled. 
"I'm still sorry about it. I'll miss her" 
"We don't even know if she's dead yet" he answered and I chuckled again. 
"I have a flight to catch up with. Lawrence would be here so..." 
"It's okay. Although i actually thought we could continue where we left off tonight" i whispered and he smiled. "I can travel tomorrow if you like" he answered and I shook my head.
"Go, you're the first son" I arranged his shirt. There'll be other days" 
"I can really cancel the flight"
"Don't tempt me David, I'm trying to be a good wife here. If you think you're horny, I'm hornier" I answered kissing him on the lips.
"I'll be waiting" I added and we kissed once more.

Kechi and Vera paid me a visit afterwards, "I have gist" Kechi announced and I smiled. "What kind of gist? Are you pregnant?"
"I closed that chapter after I had Blossom, I'm okay with just two kids.

. I have a boy and a girl, what else do I want again?" She asked.
"You didn't even care to ask if I'm fine how my children are" 
"Do you want the gist or not?" She asked in a threatening tone and I rolled my eyes. 
"Okay what's this gist" 
"Ade finally s*x and guess with who?" Vera answered and I gasped.
"Do I have to guess?" I rolled my eyes. "I'm trying to get angry but I can't cause it's all Sharon's fault and that Shirley girl looks like a sweet person, no masquerading and no make up. I mean literally, she looks good without make up" I showed them a picture on my phone and they both examined it. 
"How did you get the picture?"
"She's this celebrity photographer like that so I did a little amebo on her today" 
"She's not as beautiful as our Sharon" Kechi answered in igbo,
"Sharon has flesh too. This one looks like she needs akpu (fufu) and better Nigerian soup" Vera agreed and I shrugged.
"That wasn't even the main gist. This is main gist" Kechi paused putting me in suspense.
"What?"
"Sharon still likes Ade" 
"How did you guys arrive at that conclusion?" 
"Well... We called Sharon for lunch and when she found out about Ade having s*x, urgh! Her face changed, she even lost appetite and then she squeezed the menu on the table" 
"Just like what happened at dinner yesterday" I replied, "What happened?" Vera and Kechi asked in unison, "She wasn't comfortable with the fact Ade came with Shirley, she practically stole glances at him every now and then and I caught her each time"
"Why are these young blood stubborn when it comes to love? I didn't like Stanley but I just had to try it and now I'm among the happiest women in the world with a wonderful marriage" Kechi exhaled.
"Have you met Mrs Reiner?" She added, "I did but she told me to worried less about Sharon and try to save my marriage first" I answered and from the look in their faces, they understood what I meant.
"It has to be that Tasha girl" Vera snapped her fingers.
"Babe you gotta act fast before that bitch steal your man. All these ladies going up and down trying to reap where they didn't sow" Kechi snapped and it hit me; how i caused David's divorce with his second wife.
"I did reap where I didn't sow" 
"How?"
"Cynthia" I answered and they both rolled their eyes.
"It's different" Kechi answered, "How is it different?" David was practically married to Cynthia and if I didn't rear my ugly head..."
"What's this one even saying? And for your information, you reared your beautiful head and you made David happy"
"My point is that karma's a bitch and what if this is my Karma? What if another woman is meant to take my stead?" I cleaned the tears that had just made way down my cheeks. 
"I feel like slapping you now. If you're not older than I am, I would have seriously slapped you."  Vera snapped and I rolled my eyes. 
"Erika you too dey carry things for head. You heard Mrs Reiner many years ago, you're the butter in David's bread, the mother of his children and no bitch, I repeat no bitch will take your place."  Kechi emphasized, "Not when we're here, if she tries shit, we'll just break her into two" Vera threatened and I hissed.
"Why don't you tell David?" She added and I shrugged, "What should I tell him, it'll make me look insecure and jealous and I don't want to nag again or push him away." 
"I don't know what to say again oh, about Kechi?" Vera busted in igbo and Kechi slapped her palm together,  "Same here babe, I'm speechless too"

David called me up to affirm that his mom had died earlier than morning. "The burial's next week" 
"So fast?"
"Yeah, it was kind of her wish." "Was she sick?" "She slept and didn't wake. It was a glorious exit, Mom at 78" he answered but I knew he would be hurt one way or another especially being there just like he was about his father's death but he obviously didn't want to show it.
