When Oluchi got pregnant again, everyone thought it was funny, she was forty four years old.

" She has started again" they said, but the belly grew as usual and she was delivered of a baby boy at the right time. Everyone rejoiced at the newborn baby, who brought back joy to the compound after the many years of sorrow. The baby was a normal baby, Okafor called in the Chief priest to confirm as he didn't want to take any chances again. Oluchi smiled and looked up to wherever Obiageli was, knowing she had gone to open up her womb

"She has decided to put a smile on my face again, dry my tears" She said remembering when Obiageli had asked for a brother . She named him Chukwuka.

Obiageli came to Uche that night as usual, 

"How is your wife?" she asked climbing on top him 

"Fine" he replied, staring up hands behind his head

"You don't look happy, you're reduced"she said

"Because I'm not happy," he reached out and touched her hair "you forced me into this"

She laughed and laid with him "you know we had no choice, I want to see you better than this the next time I see you" she said her fingers playing on his chest.

She was more jealous of him than Napsi was over her, she didnt even know how she was sharing him with another woman, worse a human, she climbed on top of him again as he looked at her

"Oby, I'm suffering" he said plainly"I missed you so much"

"I don't expect you to be" she said "is Ego not a good wife, does she not give you all you want?"

"She tries, but she's not you" he said his hand reaching to touch her, he discovered he could as time went on, but that night, he wanted her

"Why..why can't I have you?" he asked as he sat up so she moved back

"Uche we don't have to go over this again"

His hand raised to touch her face"I still love and want you very much"he said touching down her, she glanced at his sleeping wife

"We not supposed to do this Uche" she said

"Do you want me to get my own room?" he asked, he discovered she could touch him too, so why couldn't they sleep together, "I know you want to" he said, she chuckled and laid beside him

"Napsi would be mad" She said but she leaned up and kissed him.......and he made love to her.

The next time she came they talked

"Why ain't she with child yet?" She asked glancing at Ego who was sleeping, he paused and seemed to think before replying

"Its just two years"he said

" and half...is there something you are not telling me?'she asked.

"What do you think I'm not telling you?" he asked

"Your brother have bore two"

"I'm not my brother" he looked away

"Obim"

"Hmm".

" If you don't tell me I ll torture you till you beg" She threatened

He chuckled and stared away

"I can't impregnate a woman" he said and looked at her "I was told during the initiation" he said , she looked up and held his gaze

"Why?"

"I was just told"

She stood up and walked around

"You can't just say that in dismissal, there has to be a reason"

"Well I don't know the reason" he said, she went back to him and climbed on top of him, legs on both sides, she leaned down and kissed him

"I ll find out"

Uche was coming out of the compound that morning, when a dog materialised from no where and jumped at him, Uche was stunned at first...and thought it strange, they were hardly any dogs in the village and the few dogs they had were not this viscious, the dog fell him to the ground, scratching him all over, he flung the dog away but it came back to him, Ego ran out and shouted

"Ewoo" but Uche ignored her, knowing exactly who it was, he rolled and fought with the animal, deciding it was either Napsi himself or a servant he had sent, he flung the dog away again as he shouted

"Why don't you fight with someone your own size" he said to it, Ego had ran in to call his brother, when it came at him again, Uche took out his knife, as it dived at him, he slapped it away then went  and stuck the knife in its neck, then again and again digging it in, before he tore its head separate from the body, he threw the head down as he panted staring at it...

Ego ran to him, as his body was filled with scratches and blood, Ekene came out

"What happened?" he saw the dead dog and wondered at it

"Where did it come from?" Ego wondered, she took him back inside to treat his wounds.

Obiageli visited him that night and cleaned off the scratches.
