Myopic - Episode 5

 

Being aware of how wrong she was to have jumped into conclusion, remi knew she had just succeeded in betraying the trust on which her friendship with bisi  had been based on for years, "forgive me bisi" she said looking at her friend helplessly with tears rolling down her cheeks "just look at me, take a good look at have started having bags under my eyes from crying for this past few days" "am so tired" she said throwing her weight on the sofa bisi moved closer to her friend in order to give her her support and comfort whatever anger she had harboured in her was no where to be found at the moment.

This is her friend in trouble and not just a random friend but the one who's parents had changed her life for good just because she chose to be her friend. Sometimes bisi do sit down to do some reality check on what her life would have been like without remi's family intervention and those time the imagination of the horror she would have gone through in the hands of her extended family  most times are the reason she snaps her back to reality . "So why on earth will something though a big of an accusation but easy to solve issue cause her to abandon the one person that stood by her in her own time of need. "pls calm down i beg you, your health might deteriorate" said bisi as she tried consoling her friend "at least if not for anything for the sake of your daughter she still depends on you for everything" speaking of her daughter, it was at that moment remi realized her daughter had been sleeping since they came back from church she was so caught up with her dilemma that she forgot for a while about the little girl who had been  close to her bag on the two seater sofa where she had dumped her earlier in a rush to meet a strange woman the thought  of the whole scenario playing in her head made her chuckle out loud "are you ok" bisi asked "am fine dear, was just thinking about everything that happened earlier today" said remi as she laid her head on her friend's shoulder "do you know debo hasn't admitted his cheating?" "he is insinuating am just  jumping into conclusion" remi sniffed as she tried stopping herself from crying she has had enough of that and it doesn't seem to solve anything

" i tried finding out if there was more to his meeting with her from one of the waiters, the answer i got broke my heart, after giving the waiter a tip he couldn't resist he told me how they play lovers every time they come around." remi couldn't believe her ears its a different thing to suspect and assume things are happening and its a different ball game when they are proven to be real.

This time her nightmare had just be confirmed no more denial "but why didn't you tell me all this" remi said sadly when she finally found her voice "i tried remi, honestly i did try but you weren't ready to listen you said i was just exaggerating a mere meeting he was having  with a client." of cos' those were her words remi thought to herself regretting why she had being so naive to think her marriage was perfect "how does she look like?" "debo is just a bastard" she said not caring anymore if her husband could hear her from the room or not. Herself and bisi had being talking to each other in a very low tone before to ensure her husband doesn't hear a thing but right now she just doesn't care who hears what anymore."calm down we will sort this out i promise" bisi kept on repeating as she tried to console her friend who though not crying but looks pained, "i have an idea, do you still have anybody you can trust to talk to about this who can help find out what is going on in there at the office?" bisi said turning her friends face towards her "or what do you think?" remi gave a deep sigh before replying "i think i do, remember james" "james!" bisi exclaimed almost shouting "isn't that the same guy that crushed on you for years when you were the manager of that branch" "yes he is, the same old james" remi said with a cynical smile on her face. If there was anything called best crush that was exactly how remi was to james, he adores her despite the fact that she was their boss himself and debo used to share an office in those days before debo became the branch manager after getting married to her. But back then often times james would always look for an excuse to work with remi in the office either trying to balance an account that obviously doesn't need remi's attention but james will always get her involved which she perceived as honesty at first but later realized it was way beyond that. James was a very funny guy who jokes around with words so when he first expressed his love to her she had thought it was one of his expensive jokes not until when debo started showing interest in her and she fallen head over heels for debo did she began to notice  how serious james was about his proposal. He fell ill for several days when he heard she was engaged to debo that made her  realize how serious it was to him, now she wish she could turn back the hands of time. James seems like the only person she could trust despite the fact he didn't get married to her he never stopped being concerned about her and if their is anyone who won't cover up for debo it will definitely be james.

After so much thought and reasoning remi and her friend concluded on using james as their mole. Bisi stood up to take her leave but remi asked her to wait a bit so they can plan what to tell her mom to avoid her knowing the truth. "Please let me freshen up will be out in a moment" said remi before going into her bedroom with her daughter in her arms, the sight of her husband on the bed sleeping peacefully like no man's business irritated her to the brim of her soul she wish she could make him feel more pain like she was at the moment. He should be thanking his stars remi came to his rescue if not he would have survived only on beverages and not proper meal "idiot" she muttered under her breathe as she changed into something casual the same she did to her baby too. When she got back to the living room discussing with bisi about their plans she hurriedly sent the counsellor a mobile message to notify her they won't be at the counselling  as planned to avoid keeping her waiting which she replied saying "no problem".

After concluding with bisi about their plans she accompanied her to her car where they shared a little bit of sister moment before she eventually drove out of the compound
