Tayo stance against military government is obvious, his hatred for Abacha’s self-perpetuation in office was evidenced in his daily column. He wrote daily to counter lies by Pro-Abacha campaigner’s portraying the Head of State as the Nation’s Messiah. He has raised weighty allegations of financial theft from public treasury to finance Abacha’s obnoxious plan.

He has monitored activities of charlatans moving from State to State, different groups urging Abacha to contest in the election, he knew they were acting under financial inducement. He wrote

SEVENTY-FOUR ABACHA’S CARDINALS AND THE VATICAN’S STATEMENT

  Seventy-four Cardinals wore their traditional robe, adored with both royal beads and turbasn to enter the conclave with General Sani Abacha, they dined and wined with Pope in the conclave, they held an extensive discussion that affects their subjects, they weld into political crisis that affect their domains, they emerged from the conclave and gave a Vatican statement that must be obeyed by all Parishioners, the most senior Cardinal spoke on their behalf.

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Maccido pleaded the pope to continue in office . He said “Your Excellency, we have carefully looked around and with all humility, we hasten to say that you are a person fully qualified to occupy that seat

They were afraid of being forced out of their thrones through executive order, they wanted to preserve their stools from destroyers, they leaned on Abuja to secure Abacha’s support against any usurper and they never thought about posterity.

Campaign train is moving from state to state, they are touring South West states, Ekiti State has witnessed their charlatan, speaker after speaker telling us blatant lies to allow Abacha to remain in office. They will convey in Ibadan today to sell lies again, they have money to mobilize hungry citizens. This is time for credible citizens to stand and resist them, to restore decency to our nation. Nigerians need to come out in their stones, their clubs against their guns….

He left his office to attend to complain from the circulation officer that some vendors raised allegation that some military officers seized their newspapers.
