Phillip:

"This isn't what you think!" I try to rein in my anger at the man on the other side of the line as I stare down at the picture of Cheryl and I in a lip lock. Who would take such a private picture and send to the headquarter in Kenya?
"I sent you there to raise the company back up boy! Not to continue your whoring way!" I hear something slam in the background on the other side of the line and I growl.
"I'm not whoring around."
"I saw the pictures Phillip. When will you be serious enough for the sake of your career." He sounds tired.
"She's my woman . It's not what it looks like." I insist.
"She's the daughter of the client right? Isn't that why this last deal just fell out?" He snaps at me. I rub my itchy eyes and release a long-suffering sigh.
"I'm shutting down the company."
"What?! You can't do that to me. I've worked so hard." I let my anger show.
"Work hard on the female population I'm guessing. God! Why are women so easy!."
"Don't talk about her like!" I growl. He must hear the threat in my voice because he's quiet for a while.
"I'll get the client back." I say in measured voice. My workers are counting on me

. I can't let them lose their job.
"Get a wife. Not another client." This stops me and my head drop.
"This is crazy." I groan.
"That's the only condition or tell everyone to pack up their desk." The call ends abruptly and I have the insane urge to throw the phone against the wall.
There's a knock on the door. My head snaps to the door.
"What!" I bark. One of the female workers whose name I don't even remember peeks in with a nervous look.
"Umm the woman you brought in with you. She left." She bites down on her bottom lip.
"What?" My feet carries me out of my office out to where I left Cheryl earlier. Positive that she'll be waiting there. Something is not right. Every one in the office quietly stare at me.
"Why did she leave?" I ask the whole room.
"She just ran out of the lady's room and out of the office." Someone says.
"She kinda heard us talking about the situation in the office." The voice is quiet and tentative. I don't even have the inkling to shout at any one of them right now. Cheryl. What did she possibly hear that she ran out like that.
I unlock my phone and dial her number. It rings off without an answer.
"Pick up the phone Cheryl." I mutter as I walk out of the office and dial her several more times. There's no answer.
I hail down a taxi and type out a message to her from the back of the taxi.

WHERE DID YOU GO?

The message shows read but don't get a reply. I know she's angry about something. What she heard can't be good. I feel fear at losing her grip me.

PLEASE TALK TO ME. I M COMING TO YOU.

"Can you hurry it up please." I say to the taxi driver who effortlessly weaves through traffic.
I get home five minutes earlier than usual and quickly pay the taxi driver. The car zooms off as I rush to the door. It's locked. I put my key in and push it open.
"Cheryl?!" I rush through the whole house without a sign of her. It looks like she didn't even come home judging by the cake dough still sitting covered on the kitchen counter.

WHERE ARE YOU BABY? I NEED US TO TALK.

PLEASE.

I'M LOSING IT. PLEASE.

No reply to none of my texts. I prowl the sitting room with my mind in a mess. I dial Benedicta's phone but it rings off without an answer.
"Why isn't anyone picking up their phone today!" I growl. An idea hits me.
I drop my jacket and my tie before running out to hail another taxi. I give the man Cheryl's father's house address.

Cheryl:

"I'm fine dad. I just miss being with you." I rest my head against his shoulder and try not to let him see my misery. My phone lights up signifying another text from Phillip no doubt.
"You should always listen to a man's side of the story before you make a decision in a relationship." My dad says like he knows something.
"You don't understand this."
"I was married to your mother for a decade. I was a difficult man to deal with even at that time. Fights get worse when there's no communication." He brushes my cheek softly and the tears choke me.
"Why does it hurt so much? I don't think I can see him." I sob.
"Shhhh. That's enough my daughter. You don't have to talk to him if you can't. You can stay here as long as you want." He says and I sob harder.
"Shhhh." He carress my back softly and I feel sleep start to lure me slowly. I yawn and press my side into him harder.
"Sleep baby." My dad's voice is already becoming distant. I welcome the sweet relief of sleep just before the sound of something crashing pulls me out of sleep.
"What was that?" I sit up right and rub my sleepy eyes.
"I'm sure it's nothing." My dad says distracted as he looks towards the door. I frown when raised voice starts to reach my ears. My dad stands up and grab his phone. I watch him talk to his head of security just as I hear my name from outside. My heartbeat accelerates and my chest feels tight. That voice. My legs start to carry me out of the sitting room.
"Cheryl?! Cheryl?! Talk to me!" I hear Phillip's voice clearly.
"Cheryl, where are you going?!" I hear my dad screaming after me but I just can't stop. My legs carry me further to the gate. I see various men holding Phillip as he struggles with them.
His eyes spot me in the distance and it's like time stops and everyone fades away. I don't see anyone but him.
"Cheryl..." I take a step back. His face is so full of anguish. When he tries to move forward, one of dad's men grab him by the collar and pull him back.
"Phillip!" I gasp in horror as he hits the interlocked floor. They are on him in seconds and holding him down with his hands behind him.
"Cheryl listen to me please. I don't know what you heard. You have to listen to me. Don't let this spoil what we have."
"You're hurting him!" I scream at one of the men who starts to drag Phillip.
"Get that man out of my compound!" I turn around to find my father walking towards the gate with his walking stick. He comes up to me and studies my features.
"Are you okay?" He asks. I look from him to Phillip who's groaning with how he's been manhandled.
"They are hurting him!" I cry.
"You don't want to speak with him. I'll have him removed. That's what you want right?" He looks softly at me and I shake my head.

. I don't know if I want to talk to him.
"Cheryl! Arggggghhhhhh!!!" Phillip's scream has me turning away from my father.
"You're hurting him!" I lunge myself at the men and fight them off my man.
"Get off him!" They block my path to him and I claw at them with my nails. I'm carried on a muscular shoulder before I know it and I screech and yell.
"Dad!"
"Let them go!" My dad's authoritative voice has everyone stopping. I'm put down to my feet as Phillip is released.
I don't waste time, I launch myself towards him.
"Phillip!" He catches me and pulls me tightly to his chest.
"Bambi. Gosh, I thought I'll never hold you in my arms again. I told you not to run away from me. I will always catch you. I told you that." He says softly into my hair and I wrap my hands around his waist.
"I... I.." I stutter. Why was I mad at him again? I can't remember with him holding me this tightly to his heart.
"Shhhh. I love you Cheryl. I love you." The words slam into my chest with a force so great and a sob is stolen out of my belly.
