After the break hour at school, Adanne sat on the slab outside the classroom and watched the students scurried all around. They played and she wished she should join them but wasn't in the mood. Her classmate, Aisha had come to drag her to the playground but she rejected. 

"Okay," Aisha said, and walked away.

She sat and kept reminiscing about Timi. She never knew where Timi now lived, after their primary school, she thought Timi would join his brother in the same school she was in . Timi never came. His brother was also nowhere to be found. Adanne kept reminiscing about Timi, a quiet child with prospects if he had enough opportunities. She smiled and gloated in self satisfaction. Trying to mask off her smiles after she had noticed two little children staring at her, someone tapped her and jumped to her front.

It was Simi. Her gown barely reached her knee. She had worn the gown for over five years in the junior class and it wasn't touching her knees again. She had slim fitted it, to make it taut compacting her anatomical features.

Adanne raised her head a bit, took a glimpse at her and looked away. Simi grabbed her head and raised it up quickly. Adanne grumbled.

"What?" She asked.

"You are asking me what abi? You don't know what your brother did?" Simi said vibrating all her body.

. The face of the first one looked like a baby, while the other one was as thick as Simi's own. She looked same age as Simi, Adanne guessed.

"How does what my brother did to you concern me? I don't care. You are stressing me," Adanne said.

 Adanne didn't know where the guts came. She had been trying to avoid troubles and on a normal day, she would have ignored Simi to rant on. She hopped down from the slab she sat on. Her legs barely reached the floor. She made to walk towards the two stepped staircase, and Simi grabbed her cloth and fumed in anger. Forcefully, she pulled Simi's hand away and it flew towards one of the girl's face. Simi's hand hit her and she shouted. Adanne hissed and climbed the staircase and walked into the class. Other students looked, mocked and laughed.

Simi rounded her with her hands as she apologized. "I am so sorry, Nofi" she said. Her name was Nofisat but they shortened it to 'Nafi' and pronounced it as 'Nofi.'

"We go beat that girl shege when school vacate. Na us she dey speak grammar for abi," Amaka said. Amaka was the other girl's name.

"Don't worry. Dem don dey annoy me tey tey. Her cup don full, she go hear am," Simi said.

Before the school hours ended, Shola who had overheard their conversations ran to tell Adanne what she heard. She stammered till she finally relayed all she had heard. Pleased about herself and how she was able to flow in an error riddled English she thought she has been growing little by little. By the time I'm done with secondary school, I'd have perfected my spoken English, she thought.

. In her thoughts she had ways with words and spoke English like a Briton but she always feel disappointed anytime she is about to bare it out.

After the school hour, Adanne waited for Chimaobim and they walked home together. She never cared to tell Chimaobim about Simi's plan. Simi, Aisha and Amaka had been waiting on the way, to beat Adanne. Not so long, they saw them coming close. 

"She dey Waka with her brother abi no be her brother?" Amaka pointed. "Her God really save her today."

"You think I'm scared of that boy? I dey wait for the day I go beat am," Simi bragged.

Amaka's eyes lit up immediately. "Eh, you can beat him?" she asked.

Simi laughed and stared at Aishat. " E be like say, Amaka no sabi me. Me wey beat David that day. Which boy fit beat me. Dem scarce."

"But David is shorter," Amaka said.

Aisha smiled. "David actually get muscle pass that boy wey just tall."

Simi gave them heads on to approach them and they all walked out from where they had been standing and obstruct them immediately.
