Chimaobim read hard in preparation for his senior secondary school certificate examinations. He was made the head boy due to Tobi's calm nature while Tobi became the assistant head boy. Michael wasn't happy the day it was announced; he got chemistry lab prefect. Michael had been made the acting head boy almost at the end of their S.S2 session and he worked hard that term to finish first position overall, but was disappointed when he finished fourth. He had blamed it on science class he was in; he felt it was harder than others . They had four classes in S.S2 with the names A, B, C & D assigned to each classes. A & B were for sciences while C was for Art and D for commercial. Chimaobim was an Art student same as Oreoluwa and he had always dragged first position overall with Tobi who was a science student. Tobi had gotten the first position, in most occasions.

Michael would always regret while he was in science class. He hated calculations but never performed poorly. On an average, he was still a great student but he wasn't impressed with his results. Most terms he would read hard, he always not get his desired scores in physics and further mathematics. He was in 'B' class while Tobi was in 'A,' the first science class. He wanted to study Medicine and Surgery

. When he was assigned to the class, he thought it was an easy ride till Nneka aced the first position from him. In the junior class, Nneka wasn't in the same class as them. They were placed in different classes according to their positions after the common entrance examinations. He was the best overall and was kept in J.S1A. When the term ended, he saw first position in his class and first overall. It was the school tradition to put class positions and overall top ten in the whole class for top ten students only. Nneka was second overall and was in a 'D' class, while Oreoluwa that was in the same class as Michael came second and overall third. Having been the best throughout his primary school till the first term, his joy was cut short when Tobi was admitted to the school and was brought to his class. To Michael's shock, he finished third that term to Tobi and Oreoluwa, and it extended to the third term. Their class teacher was glad watching his students occupy the three coveted positions overall. Chimaobim coming to his class in J.S3, further smashed Michael's esteem. First position rotated between Tobi and Chimaobim. Tobi got the position most of the time; this made both of their mother's closer during a P.T.A meeting. Michael only did well in reclaiming the third position from Oreoluwa after the only term he finished fourth. His breakthrough came when he wasn't in the same class with them during their senior secondary class. He was in S.S1B and his first position came on every terms but he never made overall Top three. Most of his classmates would always waggle their mouths on how he was no longer intelligent as before. It was Chimaobim, Tobi and a new student, Amarachi. Amarachi was in a commercial class. He stopped caring.

When he was assigned with the acting head boy position, he read so hard to get a good overall result but he wasn't still the best. Chimaobim was finally made the head boy while Tobi was the assistant.

Adanne would raise her shoulder so high whenever her brother came to the assembly ground to address them. Some of his classmates will stare at her, then his brother and murmured. She once overheard a classmate on the assembly ground saying how much she liked her brother.

She shook her head. After the school hour, she told her brother about it and they both laughed it off.

Simi would always hiss anytime she was late to school and Chimaobim would be briefing labour prefects on how to handle late comers. She always look for every possible ways to keep disrespecting him but doesn't make it a physical attack, else she would be beaten again. She had learnt her lesson and Amaka taunted her with, "once bitten twice shy."

Chimaobim working with Amarachi as the head boy and girl, had brought them so close.

. Amarachi was quiet but outspoken when there was a need to be. She was a brilliant new student and Nneka's cousin. Being new in the school and commercial class, she was a force to reckon with.

Chimaobim relationship with Tobi outgrew as they went to higher in classes. Chimaobim became taller and looked more matured than Tobi and their friendship watered. They still talked to each other but not as close as they were before. Chimaobim never had anyone he was personally closed with. He related with everyone.

People assumed he was in a relationship with Amarachi. Most of the girls found Chimaobim attractive and wished he would date them. Growing up to a tall young man, he was buff and always neatly dressed. Adanne was proud of his brother. He was always the topic on female students mouth and most students look up to him in term of everything.
