Chris:

We are at Grace Restaurant sitting round the table looking at each other, with nothing on our table not even water… at a point I scratch my hair, turn and face Tristy

“you mean to tell me that you are willing to go there and get that tape for her”

She nod

“and you are ready to face any risk you see there”

She hesitate before giving a slight nod

“okay then you are at luck Bea that you have someone this loyal to you” “did you pay her” I whisper to Bea

“No she is doing it to help me as a friend; best friend actually” Bea whisper back giving Tristy a smile

 “Are you people actually talking about me when I am here” Tristy ask

“No” we both answer at the same time

She adjust and face Bea “Can you tell me all I need to know about your mother”

I relax to take care of matters with my friends through my phone while they work on theirs

“Okay” Bea answer and bring out many pictures with things written on them

Pointing at each of the pictures she starts explaining

“my mother is a tough woman who have been through a lot in life, we have been through sh*ts, up and down; looking at her from afar she is just a rude and nose high woman, she is a sweet old lady but only when she wants to be” the only problem I have with her is the tape she is using to control me.

“this is a picture we snapped at a friend’s party; well not a friend but a client of ours, this one and that are pictures we snapped at different occasions”. “to put up with her you just have to be agile then to get to her heart agree with everything she asks you to do and add something more, act s*xy around her friends when I mean friends I mean her clients but never ever call them clients or ask too much questions about them” “Maybe as you work with her you can find out more of her rules I must have forgotten”

“You get that” she say finally putting an end to whatever she is rapping

She just nod looking at a particular picture

“You have been starring at that picture for long Tristy” I ask

“Her face looks familiar, I wonder how a woman like her can actually put her daughter through this kinda shit”

“Don’t talk like that about my mother” Bea say sounding kinda irritated “she just turned to that to escape from the problem my Dad put us through when they divorced; he never ever tried to know how I am faring no communication, nothing”

“Okay Okay” I intervene before things get hot “everybody talks like that about a parent that raise them up, I have a bad time growing up too; my parents got divorced when I was very young and my Dad refused to remarry” “I practically grew up alone with my Dad, I prayed earnestly for my parents to get together but it never happened so lets end this sh*t and discuss what we came here for” I say not minding the open mouth and strange look they gave me

“sorry” they whisper

**** “I am famished, can we order something to eat please” Tristy say yawning as if nothing just happened

“Yea bills on me” Bea say beckoning the waitress

“No I will take care that” I say looking at Bea “I swear I am going to make this girl my lady after all this” I say in my head

“What did you just say” Bea ask

“WTF, I said that out”

“Did I just say something now?”

“Yea you did”

“Oh, it’s nothing alright” I whisper embarrassed at myself, I don’t want her to feel awkward around me yet; from what I read on the internet never ever make a girl uncomfortable around you and I am sticking to that”

We order food, plenty of them; I mean the girls surprised me

. I expect to see slay queens eating pizza and fried rice but they dam ordered swallow and onugbu soup and the way they are savoring the food got me cracked up.

“Are we really eating this” I ask

“Of course” they answer in between mouth full. I look at Tristy licking her fingers and Bea crunching the bone mercilessly “Oh God, I love these girls”

I order the same thing, we ate like real old friends at a get together; it’s been long I ate with girls comfortably like this. It is either we are eating pizza or just licking ice cream

A message pop up on my phone from my friend “Alright Tristy, you have to be there on Monday”

“Where” they ask

“At Nora Empire, where she works”

“But she works from home” Bea ask surprised

“Nah” I answer showing her the picture my friend sent to me. She collect the phone from me looking at the picture “you mean my mother owns this”

“yes” she pass the phone to Tristy who admire the building

“How did you get this picture” she ask

“I have friends remember and one is a big blogger so things like this is easy to get”  “Maybe she is into something bigger than what we thought, for a woman like that to have an empire as big as this; she has a big back bone”

“are you still in” I ask Tristy

“Yes, I am; it is really going to be fun”

Bea is still dumbstruck I guess, so I have to plan with Tristy

“so how am I going to get there” she ask

“Don’t worry I have friends who are willing to help; just be at N’s Guest house by 11pm tomorrow”

***** At Max firm

Max:

Paul walks in and drop the file on my table

“We are through with the first stage of the EIA Sir”

I just nod “keep it there, will go through it later but please sit down”

“Okay Sir”

 I remove my glasses and place them carefully on the table “What is the situation report; are we going to get that share”

“yes I think so, the two major shareholders I talked with readily sold theirs to me without wasting time and as for her, she granted me audience on their next board meeting and I am sure she must bite the offer” he state handing over the files pertaining the shares

I nod

“Are you sure you don’t want to pull off this deal by yourself Sir”

“Its not yet time for me to show myself, she might still recognize me and that will destroy everything; do you think I am doing the right thing, if she finds out who I am how do you think she will feel”

“the first thing you have to ask yourself is how genuine your offer is sir, are you going into business with her as a father or a rival”

I just nod remembering the over ambitious daughter that I have; she promised that I am going to be her first business partner when she makes it but now I don’t know how she will take it coupled with my absence in her life which I did to save her

I face Paul “Don’t worry Paul; I pray I make myself known to her first but if she finds out then I have to let her instinct guide her” “after all she is my true blood and she thinks exactly like me” I add to make myself feel better

“Okay Sir, good luck then”
