In Search For My Twin - Episode 26

 

Immy agreed and we prepared ourselves for the visitors. We later went downstairs and after the greetings and introductions I excused myself and went back to the room. I had already prepared myself and I placed a written letter on the table and through the back door I quietly left. I had to meet up with faruk and tomorrow early morning we had to go back to the village. I found faruk waiting for me outside the house it was almost eight in myths night. 

Immy's pov

We went downstairs to meet my sister's friends and to my surprise it was Stephen my crush . She went straight to him and they hugged. I wanted to run back to my room but my legs betrayed me. I felt like a sharp knife being pierced in my heart. I loved him but by the time he asked me out I turned him down because of my status at the university.  

I watched him smile as they hugged and million thoughts ran into my head. Are they seeing each other?  But why of all people must it be him? Just then my sister introduced me and to my surpriseshe left. I didn't even know what to talk about but he broke the silence. We talked for hours and trust me his so good at cracking jokes. At around eleven I walked him to the gate and before he left he asked if we could be friends and I instantly agreed and then I felt shy. 

I was so happy and went up to talk to imara but what I saw made me run mad. I couldn'tfind anything that belonged to her apart from a well folded note

. I ran from one room to the other but all in vain . I then asked nana who told me she left as soon as she left the living room. I ran back to my room and tried her phone but it was off. I tried more than ten times but the answer remained the same. 

I then sat on my bed and opened the letter that read,"Dear sister ,I know right now you feel abandoned and betrayed.  But just know my love for you will always remain the same. You're my one once in a lifetime twin sister and I love you to the moon and back. I had to leave firstly because of the promise I made months back even before meeting you, second am not ready to face your dad and please keep it a secret that I was once there. By the time you will read this letter my pho e will be off but we will start communicating in two days time. I know you're hurting but try your best to find happiness remember it comes from within.  I know its too early to say this but try giving your heart to Stephen and forget that good for nothing son of a bitch.  What I didn't tell you is that I converted to Islam and my new name is Maryam. Am also getting married in two months time and I will let you know the details.  Please take care of yourself and your dad. On my wedding day, please make sure to bring Stephen with you. I love you to the moon and back. Take care. XOXO". 

I sat on my bed re-reading  the letter as tears rolled down my cheeks.

TWO MONTHS LATER

 It has been two months ever since imara left. I completed my studies and we are waiting for the graduation which will take place in January next year. Things between me and Stephen worked perfectly fine and we are seeing each other. Dad's company went back to normal however he incurred some losses but everything settled.  

I have been communicating with imara almost twice everyday and she has been busy preparing for her wedding day.  We chat and text every time and she now dresses like Muslims and I will admit she looks like a princess in these attired. Dad wants to talk to her but every time I tell her about that she pretends to be busy and hung up. I understand maybe she hasn't forgiven him and stil carries hatred in her heart. Dad moves in a wheel chair but his doing just fine and I run his office definitely with his help.

It's just five days to imara's wedding and tomorrow I will travel to masaka just to be there for her. She asked me to take imarisha and mubiru with me and yes I will take them. Am so happy for her and Stephen agreed to come with me. Am also taking dad with me because he begged me and asked me not to inform her. Ever since he knew we were twins , he longs for her daughter and talks about her everyday.  He will al ways ask me how my sister looked like and I could sense the love he has for her in his words and eyes.

It's today and we are all already to go to masaka to meet imara. She's expecting us but I don't know how she would react on seeing dad with us but let's pray all goes well. We left earlier than we intended maybe because we all miss her. It's dad's first time to meet imarisha and mubiru.  And its his first time to know that mum left behind other children besides us.

Imara's pov

It's only four days to my wedding and am not yet sure if Mr M.D.

. has to know. I don't hate him anymore but its had to accept his my dad. I have been busy learning my new religion and preparing for my big day. Days have been running so fast and today am expecting immy and my young siblings.  She told me things worked out well for her and that makes me so happy . I really want my sister to be happy because she deserves to be.

I had a car parking and I quickly went out . I know its immy and yes its her car . I ran shouting towards the car and immy jumped out screaming at the top of her voice as she came running towards me. We hugged and then my young siblings joined us. We were shouting, jumping and laughing at the top of our voices just as I looked at the car and I saw Stephen pushing a wheelchair . I stood up looking white as if I have just seen a ghost and my eyes met with those of Mr M.D.
