Imara's pov

A WEEK LATER

It has a been aweek since we came back from the school and today is the big day we are heading to the city. I have never been to the city before so this is going to be my first time.

I wokeup very early and took bath, dressed up in the clothes I got from faruk as my birthday present and I waited for him outside my house carrying a black slingbag with me. You look so beautiful my Angel faruk said who came from behind me.

I blushed as he came closer and pecked my forehead .  Good morning  my love, he said standing so close to me.Have this he said handing me a blue beautiful jacket. I looked at him speechless because it was very cold and I didn't have a jacket or a sweater in the house.

It matched with some blue flowers in my dress . He hold my hand in his ,looked at me and asked , are you scared?  I nodded my head and then I said am afraid . Afraid of what?  He asked but I just stared at him blankly.

Don't be afraid of the city,my love. Ask your God to go with you. He surely will hear your silent prayers. It was a bout half past six in the morning when we boarded the bus to Kampala and off we went. At first I had a number of thoughts running into my head but then I started the journey as faruk was showing and telling me names of different places

. It was a fantastic journey and being with the love of my life made it even more interesting.

The bus came to a halt at a certain place where people bought eats and drinks and some went off to ease themselves.  Faruk bought me some roasted chicken, plantain and soda. He also bought some for himself.  Everything was so delicious and I ate as if my life depended on it. I had spent the past two days with out eating as I was always in thoughts.  We continued with the journey and before I knew it we were in the city.

Indeed it was t he city,  there was only tall buildings , a lot of cars , motorbikes and everyone was in a rush. People were crossing roads amidst moving cars and that scared me a bit. Faruk grew up in the city untill when his parents died and he decided to live and take care of their properties in the village two years ago. But he still came to the city for business issues. He is twenty-five  years old with a broad chest, chocolate colour, blue round eyes, slightly taller than me and had milk white teeth . When he smiles you will pray he doesn't stop.

I stood in one place admiring everything I saw and then faruk grabbed my hand and said, we are going to the new tax park to board a tax that will take us to our destination.  I was a bit scared crossing through moving cars but he looked at me with a face that said trust me and let's go and yes we went. We crossed before a number of moving cars untill we went in the tax park which was filled up with a number of taxis. We boarded a tax to kasubi our destination,  waited for about ten minutes until it was full and left .

We had called earlier and we directed to board off from kobil petrol station . We reached the petrol station and an elderly woman in her late fifties came and greeted us. She had a glowing skin, wore a pinkish kitengi dress ,her hair was neatly combed and it was almost turning white . She red slippers which were very neat and she calmly looked at me and said, "oh my good Lord open my eyes . This is Evelyn herself. Young lady no doubt you're evelyn's child. You look exactly like her when she was your age. Look at you she said turning me around you have very nice physical features like your mom.

She then asked us to follow and behind the petrol station was a very nice banglow. She opened and we followed inside. She greeted us again and offered us seats. She went out and she came back with three cups of milk which she offered us with bread spread with blue band . We had informed her of the death of my mom through the phone and looking straight into my eyes she said, I missed her so much but she never even came back ever since that night, she said tears coming out of her tired eyes.

You said you want some answers for your unanswered questions, she said sitting up straight and placing her cup down on the table. Yes mama I said as polite as I could.  Before that, who is this young man with you, she asked. This faruk my fiance as well my best friend.  I replied with a lot of confidence.  Is it ok if she listens to what you are about to hear? . She asked with a concerned look. She was right but I wanted him to hear everything.  I knew it may bring our relationship to an end but he knows way too much and I don't have anyone to help me on this issue. At this time faruk said calmly,  I can wait outside until you finish . No I said stay with me please. Let's hear everything together.  Are you sure you want him here, she asked to be sure. I nodded my head to say yes.  Ok what would you like to know she asked. I told her everything I found out last week and inquired about where my mom worked .

Your mom said she worked as a Secretary for one of the richest men in Kampala.  He worked in cosmetics company and I had it was her boss that raped her. She said taking a sip on her milk. What about the people who took my sister do you know them or can you recognise them? I asked . No my child it was evening time and I didn't see them ever since that day and my eyes can't see very well as you can see am of age. She added. She told us the name of the cosmetic company and it was already evening time. She talked about how my mom made everyman yearn to have her even when she was beautiful because of good shape. We thanked her for everything and left. We stood at the petrol station and night was falling already.

Don't be scared dear, it wasn't your fault and my love for you will never come to an end. I love you and I will always love you. Faruk said caressing my hand. I blushed a little and his words were so soothing to my already aching heart. Are we waiting for the bus back to masaka?  I asked . Faruk giggled and then no am taking to my house here in Kampala we will go back to masaka after visiting the company and finding out the truth .

These words made me so happy because I knew at least I have someone who cares about me. But I didn't come with any other dress I said looking down on the ground feeling shy. It's ok dear. We boarded a tax which took us to nakulabye . His house was a big Banglow with three bedrooms, a sitting room, a modernised kitchen and a store. Welcome to my humble home he said teasingly. I was speechless . It was so beautiful. Why would he choose to live in the village leaving such a beautiful house here . Don't you like it he asked after seeing am not saying anything.  No I quickly replied.  I love it but why would you choose to live In the village. It's so beautiful I really love it. I said in awe.

You know why I decided to take over my parents business however its not been easy. I had to support my sister .

. Her sister studied in boarding schools in the city and she completed A  level and will join university soon.

Do you like living in the city? He said turning his full attention on me. Yes I want to live in the city so bad I said to my heart and my heart replied yes you want but you can't let him know. I just looked at him and smiled. He showed me to the bathroom to refresh and he went out . Minutes later he came back with a very skimpy night gown and super. It was a bright see through red dress and he gave it to me . I put it on and then put on my jacket back because it was cold. I later joined him on the dinning table .

He had brought chicken , chapats and chips. It was delicious we both ate whilst chatting and laughing.  I forgot about all my worries and enjoyed the night with faruk. It was the shortest but most amazing night in my life.
