Weeks had passed, I still hadn't been able to speak to Joseph without feeling scared and uneasy. Toyosi words were haunting me, she was never the kind of person to allow a broken relationship hurt her. She had dated different boys before Joseph, so why was it after Jospeh she left? Why didn't she leave after the ones before him? What is being hidden from me? What's Ebun hiding from me? Why do they always look so scared? Is Joseph a bad guy or something? Is there something he does to them that...

"I don't know what's wrong with you SS3 students." The voice of out principal, brought me out of my thought. I lifted my head the instant the sentence settled in my head . "You people don't know what you're up for," he continued. "Your external exams would be starting next term, some of you haven't even started preparing. Don't you know your preparations start now? It's starts from now. Do you want to drag the school name into the mud? All this your playing around, and making yourself idle with that useless TalkFree app must stop. As from today, I mustn't pass a class and not see you people reading. You must spend every second of the day reading. And no more noise, especially art

. If I catch anyone, that person would regret. And your continuous assessment test is starting next week, be prepared. All elective for external exams would be effective from next term, one elective. So choose wisely." He sighed. "Dismissed."

Amarachi grabbed my right arm, while Ebun walked by my left side as we walked to our classes. Dammy was no longer close to us. The fact that we were prefect and she wasn't, kind of drew a line between her and us. It wasn't like we stopped talking to her or something, but we rarely see her. Whenever we saw her, we talked to her. "Dammy!" I shouted, when I saw her walking on her own. She smiled at me, and came to join us.

We chatted a little before going to our classes.

Immediately I sat down, I noticed Ngozi seated quietly on her seat. Her craze reduced a lot. She talked less, interfered into people's business less, and read her books a lot. Eyah, I feel for her. That Miss. KnowAll is evil, very evil. She should know by now, that hers is on the way.

"Good morning class," the ever intrusive Mr. Demeji said as he walked into the class.

I rolled my eyes. I hate this man ehn, he can't mind his business for once.

"Foreign Policy." As he said the topic, Tolu walked in. Tolu! Tolu! Tolu! That boy is always late for everything, he's the master of Esther. Esther is an apprentice in his sight. Everyone still find his performance a surprise. It was once a topic in our class group chat, he kept saying 'nothing oh, nah read I dey read'. But no one believed him, because his position is always among the first ten. Tah! He's using juju.

"No sir, the matron held me down," he lied. Mr. Demeji already had his cane up, but Tolu's brain ran faster than Mr. Demeji's own. All these teachers that are not smart, but can flog. Mtchew.

Mr. Demeji brought his cane down. "I'd ask the matron." We all knew he wouldn't, so we ignore his oversabiness [being too forward]. "Ah! Has someone gone to call the commercial students?"

"No," Ada answered smartly.

"So you people are waiting for me abi?" Ada jumped from her seat, running to the door to quickly call them, but Mr. Dimeji pulled her back. "Eh ehn, don't go. Esse go."

I laughed internally, he knew she wanted to go and see her boo, Ethinosa. That woman wrapper. Chai! I wonder how she copes sef.

I stood up quickly, and made my way to their class. "Mr. Demeji said you guys should come to my class, it's combine," I said out loud.

They all turned to my direction, before a smirked crawled it way to Ethinosa's lips. "Wow! So she can talk?" Ah! See this oshiscopious[to be stupid] being oh!

I rolled my eyes at him. "No oh, I can't talk. It's only hmm I can do. Mtchew, stupid question." It came out more rude, than I thought it would.

"Chisos! Yeba!" Collins shouted. "Guy, just go and sidaun!"

Ethinosa didn't say anything, he licked his lips before looking at me with a lopsided smile. "Hmm...cute."

Collins tapped him on his right shoulder. "Guy wetin you dey do, make Joseph no catch you oh."

I've never felt so flushed in my life before. If I was a lot fairer, a red tint would have stained my cheeks by now. I looked away, when I noticed the entire class eyes were on our little drama, and walked to Ebun. "Let's go oh."

She acted like she didn't see the whole drama. She grabbed her chair and followed me. She sat next to me in class, but we didn't chat. We were both listening, when a note landed on my lap. I picked it, and 'Esse' was written on it in a neat cursive handwriting. I immediately knew it was Jospeh. I smiled as I opened it, and read.

I heard about your performance in commercial class. I also heard it was cute, I wish I was there. You know, you should prolly do more of that. Standing for yourself, I find it cute and attractive.

I blushed and closed the paper. Only for me to turn and notice, Ebun was reading with me, and now had the look of terror on. 'Be careful', she wrote with a pencil at the edge of my book.

I sighed. I'm tired of all these her 'be careful' messages, and she will not nah tell person what is wrong. Oh...I've tire o.

"See him, he'd come late to my class oh, and then come and sleep. Christ, this boy needs deliverance," Mr. Demeji complained as Tolu was sleeping peacefully on his desk, making all of us to laugh. "Slap him," he commanded.

Before anyone could say 'Ja', not talk more of 'ck Robinson', Tolu was hit hard on the cheek by Collins. He jumped up in shock, as he began to recite the McPherson constitution. The entire class guffawed. "How does he even know that?" Mr. Demeji question in surprise, making us laugh even harder.
