I woke up late than expected, so I had to rush up everything- Morning chores, morning prayers, dressing up and the rest. It was time to go,and the unexpected happened- I couldn't find my key, it was already past 7am. My parents had to leave me to my fate as they were already getting late. Finally I saw the key at a place I had checked over and over again. I locked and started trekking out to where I could get a cab like someone about to miss a flight . I got one, and finally got to work. In my mind I was already praying my supervisor doesn't get to the office before me, and oh! What a prayer-amswering God we have, I passed him at the gate, whilst the shuttle I was in drove past by. I quickly alighted at the park and used all the short routes I could think of to get to my department. On getting there, I made my short prayers, and wore my lab coat, waiting for supervee as he's fondly called to show up. He finally shows up, I greeted him and the day's work had started. Prior to this, there was elderly woman I met at the reception- she was wailing and weeping for her lost one, and then these morticians who were there at the moment just scolded at her- 'madam no dei cry here abeg, you no be the first person' and I'm like- 'really?? So because it's your job and you're used to seeing these things on a daily basis, somebody shouldn't mourn again?' At the end, she then packed up her things and left in her bereaved state.

Now I had to still wait for my ever busy supervisor to come and teach me one or two things and then he keeps apologising- 'please I'm sorry, I'm too busy, H.O.D sent for me, CMD wants to see me, there's a case that needs my attention, etc'. I just had to resolve to following the morticians around watching whatever they were doing and taking note if the various processes in embalming

. To be honest, these morticians have been nice, friendly, accommodating, and funny so far, patient enough to answer my never ending questions, and that was how today basically ensed.

At the end of the day, I just sat back and had a rethink of what life was all about, and I started praising and thanking God for the gift of life and the gift of salvation, cos between the time I closed from work the previous day and the time I resumed this morning, about four bodies have been brought dead and lifeless, ready for embalming. I kept asking myself what life is all about, what we use our lives to do. And just like that eternity had started for four persons, mmmmmmmmh! Now the life they lived on earth would determine where they'd spend their eternity. This world we have come to, we came empty and we'd go empty. What is life if you gain the whole world and loose your soul? (Mk 8:36) there's nothing in this life. My daily prayer is that God would give me the grace to live a life worth pleasing unto Him.
