SOME WHERE ELSE IN JOS
"Papa you called for me" Zainab said timidly as she walked into the lavishly furnished parlour.
Her father sat on the large imported couch directly opposite the television set. Dressed in a white long flowing robe typical of men in northern Nigeria, he read the days paper. He raised his eyes from the paper on hearing her voice and smiled.
"My beautiful princess, come over here and hug your father" he said stretching his left hand at her while holding the paper in his right.
She smiled sheepishly as she almost ran into his hands like she hadn't seen him in months
"How is my princess?" He said looking down at her as she rested her head on his chest while partially sitting on his laps.
"Am fine sir" she replied
"That's good
. I have something for you". She stood up looking at him expectantly as he dipped his hand in the pocket of his robe and brought a paper and handed her.
With the blink of an eye she flew on him shouting excitedly. On the paper was her admission status and she had just been offered admission to study medicine and surgery, the course of her dreams.
"Congratulations to you my princess, no my doctor" her father said proudly with smiles.
"What is the noise about?" Came Hajiya Aisha's voice, Zainabs mother
Zainab ran to her, hugging her and showing her the cause of her joy.
"Ah thank you Allah" she said excitedly lifting both her hands heaven wards.
"So my Zainab will soon be a doctor" she said laughing as she sat beside her husband.
Little Idris the baby of the house walked in with a confused look over his face. The excitement in the parlour had woken him, he looked from his dancing sister to his mother and then opened his mouth wide crying.
"My baby, my chubu chubu, come here you naughty boy" Zainab said as she carried him in her hands and tickled his stomach
