Dawn of Love - Episode 5

 

OKAY ENOUGH SIDE TALK LETS GET TO THE REAL STORY.

Monday 13th April 1998, newly admitted students of the prestigious University of Jos, one of Africa's finest institutions at the time could be seen every where on the school's campus trying to carry out their registration.

. One could easily spot the new students, gullible, confused and ignorantly walking about either seeking directions or standing in long queues.
Princewill had been on this queue for almost three hours now with no sign of been attended to any time so . The situation was becoming frustrating and even though he was known to be the patient kind, he was fast loosing that patience with the passing of each second. 
"Haba this is not fair o," came the first voice
"We no go gree" another came up
"So we standing here are we not people?" Came another aggrieved student.
Another rich looking parent had just walked in with his son and had his registration done with so much ease, while they have been standing here all this while with no attention. They students murmured and complained causing a pandemonium

. Princewill stood not saying a word as everyone else complained, not that he didn't want to but because he was too hungry to waste energy causing confusion.
Eventually it was his turn he walked into the office to meet the lady in charge, a plumpy lady most likely in her early forties she collected his credentials without a reply to his greeting and flipped through as she shifted uncomfortably in her sit.
"Why do you have three names on all your documents except your ssce results?" She asked not even raising her face to see him
"Um ma I...I....I...don't I don't know" he stammered not even having an idea what she spoke of.
"You will have to go and swear an affidavit" she said handing his credentials to him
"And that will be tomorrow because I have closed and I don't think you will even meet them now" she added looking at the time that read 3:45 pm
He just stood there looking at her with a little tear in his eye thinking how he spent the whole day standing on some line just to be sent back. He walked out tired but more of frustrated.
"See this woman o, how will she just send me to one court just like that" said the voice of the same guy that raised the complain earlier and started the pandemonium.
Princewill heard him say angrily as he walked past him, at least he is not the only one he thought, he headed home hoping to start again tomorrow.
The next day he went straight to the court,the time was 9:00 am when he got there, if you had told him he would stay there for three hours to swear an affidavit he would have argued intensely but that was exactly what happened. He walked out of the courts building hoping to go continue his registration when he heard a now familiar voice behind him.
"All this useless people will just be here stealing how will they charge 150 Naira for only just to sign?"
He turned to see the guy from the line at school yesterday, can't he just keep quiet and stop complaining for once Princewill thought to himself as he turned and walked away
"Hey, excuse me" he called out to Princewill as he walked to meet him
"Guy how far?how are you? Oh so that woman sent you here too?" He asked as he reached him,stretching his hand for a shake.
Princewill took the handshake, nodded in reply and continued walking. 
"Are you not going back to school? Let's go together" he said as he walked along Princewill
"Am Bola what's your name?" He asked
"Princewill" he replied as they walked to the main road and waited for a town service bus going their way
"Which kind of name is that one?" Bola asked letting out a little laugh 
"At least its not a girls name like yours" Princewill replied a little offended
He burst out laughing "see this one o do you know the meaning of that name? Who told you its a girls name?"
Princewill said nothing, just giving him a stare
Bola brought biscuits out of his cross bag and handed one to Princewill that politely turned it down
Bola laughed again "mummy's boy did Mummy tell you not to eat from strangers? Shey she said you will turn to yam" he said laughing more
Who is this guy and what's his problem thought Princewill he doesn't have to be talking to me like we did not just meet. He walked a little further stopping a bus "Terminus" he said as he boarded the boss, Bola ran to catch up and boarded the bus beside him
"I thought we are going together what's your own sef?" Bola asked as he got in
"So what's your course?" He asked after a while as the bus moved with the conductor (guy that collects the transport fare) hung on the door shouting "Terminus, Terminus" to all the people they drove pass.
"Pharmacy" Princewill answered absent minded.
"You don't meant it, wow that's great am in pharmacy too" Bola replied excitedly. "You see how destiny works? You are destined to be my best friend" he added. Princewill giggled and hissed not imagining himself been friend with this fellow he is so not liking right now.
They got to school and joined the queue, Bola would not just stop talking and saying things that made others in the queue laugh except Princewill that wished he would just shut his mouth.
"Ah see as this boy leg is like tree root because of over standing" he said referring to a guy that had very hairy, muscular legs. Everyone laughed even Princewill cracked a smile when he noticed the guys leg.
The person inside stepped out and it was Princewills turn he walked in to see the same woman of yesterday, she seemed to be clearing her table
"Did I ask you to come in? I have closed for today come back tomorrow.
Princewill stood not wanting to believe his ears
"Can you go out now?" She ordered at him. He slowly walked out as a tall man probably in his sixties walked in with a young boy that looked like a younger version of him.
"Prof good afternoon sir" the woman greeted standing up
"Ah madam how are you? Please I need you to clear this my boy" he said in a baritone voice.
"Sure sir let me see his documents, please sit down sir" she said
Princewill stood by the door fuming with anger, she had closed she told him now she was attending to the man, anger engulfed him and he felt like rushing at her, pulling her by her hair and landing slaps on her fat face.
"Have you finished" Bola asked
He was too angry to answer so said nothing
"I know that fat woman will say come back tomorrow, I know her type" Bola said understanding what happened
"Don't mind her whether she like or not we already have admission she can't carry it" he added.
Princewill said nothing and just walked away for home.
