After my conversation with Mr. Ananzo's family, they lifted to bed leaving Mr. Ananzo and I outside.

"Sir is there anything you can do to help us from this situation"

"Nobody saw you entering the village so you will be staying here after the festival you will go back to where you came from"

"A woman saw us at the river but she run away immediately she saw us"

"A woman at the river of Amanu on the first day of kundum festival that is an abomination on the side of her"

"Don't worry nothing will happen to you" he said in a manner of assurance

"How is your friend"?? He  said while standing from his lazy chair 

She is fine"??

"The herbs will help her recover soon, good night" he said and exit to his room

I stood up and went to my room, when I entered Vera was awake. The look on her face shows that of fear.

I sat beside her on the bed as she placed her head on my chest

Steve are we going to die?? She might have heard my conversation with Mr . Ananzo,

"No babe, I won't allow anything to happen to you" she look relieved when I said that. 

"Smile for me I missed that beautiful smiles" I saw her smile and she placed her head on my laps 

I started singing while rubbing my hands in her hair and slowly she slept peaceful. 

 

Vera Pov's 

In the morning I wake up and find Steve still sleeping I stood up from the bed and walked to the window, the sun rays and the tall trees make the environment look more naturally beautiful

It has been three days ever since we came to this village, what makes this village more exciting to live is the sound of the drums they play every night even though at first I was afraid but now am used to it. 

I remember the first day when I heard the sound of the drums I went to hid in Steve arms and Mr

. Ananzo and family were laughing at me, Steve was laughing not knowing he was also afraid. 

My wounds are gradually healing their concoction is faster in healing than our artificial medicine, how I wish I will spend the rest of my life here with Steve... 

I was drawn out of my fantasies when 

"Hi swedy you are looking more healthier today" Steve said while he wrapped his hands at my waist from a back. 

"Yeah, I replied when I turned to faced him

We went out from the room and sat in front of the house.. 

Mr. Ananzo and wife came out and greeted us, they have been caring to us for this three-days we've spent here the only threat am facing is their daughter's. They fight over Steve every day, it obvious my Steve is handsome and every woman wants him but not when am alive. 

"How will we get out of here to the city?? Steve asked Mr. Ananzo, 

"We have two cars which comes here from the city on every market day to sell goods, but they won't be coming for one month because of the festival "

I was happy to hear that because I wanted to stay there for as long as I live but Steve wasn't pleased with us staying for that long. 

" See them over there " a woman said when he entered the compound with two other men.. 

"Egya ye biza wo ahye " The men greeted Mr. Ananzo in their language 

"What brings you to my house this morning"?? 

"Our highness the king wants you and the visitors in your house at the palace" he said in an angry manner 

"We will be there soon" Mr. Ananzo said as the man and the woman leaves 

"We need to go see the king," fear began to bore in my heart 

"You will be fine my children " Mame Ananzo said 

At the palace, the elders and the king was already seated when we went

There place was decorated with sheepskin and the kings stool was beautiful design with golden colors. 

 

Mr. Ananzo greeted the king in their language 

" Nana ne ye kpanlima me biza be ahye" 

They responded" eya"

They gave him a seat while we were allow to stand 

"We had an information that we are harbouring this two strangers who invaded our village on a forbidden day that's why I called for you."

"Thank you my king, this young man here is Steve my nephew from the city, 

He is not a stranger" 

"So you brought them to disrespect our culture" one of the elders said 

"What do you mean by that Egya Kaku?? Mr. Ananzo asked the elder who is called Egya Kaku." 

"You an elder and you know that no one goes to the river on the first day of our festival so what were your nephew doing there with his wife "

"I went for hunting with them and they got missing in the bush, that how come they appeared at the river and besides they don't know it a taboo" 

" What you're saying is childish, how can grown-up like these people get missing just like that??

"What's that suppose to mean do you want to insult me?? There was argument among the elders some are backing us whiles others are refuting 

" Why didn't you tell them the norms of this village before bringing them?? 

The king said after everyone was quiet. Steve knew that question will be tough for Mr. Ananzo so he... .... 

"Please my elders he told us but we didn't know that was the river we barged into when we got lost because ever since we came to the village no-one sent us to the river" 

If fact, I didn't know Steve could be this genius lier. The elders began to murmur. 

"We need to consult the chief priest tomorrow on this matter" the king said 

"They have to be locked up in the palace until we are done with the investigation" one of the elders said

"So be it" the king said 

He called the men who came to our house to take us into the guests room.

While we going to the guests house we saw a lady in her twenties dress in royal garments with maids around her, she turned her gazed at Steve immediately she saw him.

"Stop there " he said as he walked towards us

Who are they and where are you taking them?? 

"The king ordered they should be locked up in the guest house" 

She gestured to indicate we should continue, she was busily staring us but I knew she was already having a crush on my Steve 

We were sent to a room which had three old chairs, tv and 1988 tape

The palace house is the beautiful house in the village which has at least few modern devices in them,

There were bathroom inside the room that make it little modernise.

We were told by those two men we can't come out of the house, our food and anything we will need will be provided to us. 

"It all my fault , if i didn't fall in love with you this wouldn't have happened to us" he said in a hush and angry tone, i felt hurt by his words 

"What you're insinuating is that because of me you are going through this." 

Tears started to gather under my eyes, when he noticed it he came and held me by the arm and stood me from the floor i was sitting 

"Sorry babe, he hugged and kissed my cheeks 

"We will be fine, i rather die to allow something happens to you" 

"I want chocolate" I said in the middle of sob

"There is no chocolate in this village" he replied 

"I saw the princess holding some" I said in a sob

I started crying like a child and he couldn't control it, he dislikes to see me cry so he began banging at the door and one of the men open it 

"Please we need chocolate " 

"There is no such thing in this village" he seem haven't heard of it before 

"Call us the princess" 

"Nobody calls the princess apart from the king and queen" he said and anger became to bore from Steve eyes 

"Call her now" steve shouted at him and he runs to call her

The princess came still holding the chocolate in her hand

"Can we have some of your chocolate " Steve said 

"Is that the reason you called me, don't you have manners am the princess for christsake" he said in a disrespectful way 

"We want some of your of chocolate" I said in a calm way

"This is the only chocolate i have with me for one month. There is no car coming from the city, you can't have it."  she chuckled and turned to leave 

Before she realized i have snatched it from her hands and run back to the room, she tried coming after me but Steve blocked the way

"Am going to tell my father" she walked out crying

Few minutes later two men came and dragged Steve and I to the palace hall

"Where is my daughter's chocolate" he said Steve stare at him with confusion because I had already finished half of the chocolate and kept the rest for another day

"You both have the mandate to take my daughter's chocolate from her and even mad her cry." it obvious she is the only daughter of the king and she's that father's child.

Before I could figure out what will happen to us two stronger hand dragged me to a big table, but Steve jumped onto me on the table

"Am responsible for what happened let me pay the price, take her out of this" 

They lay him on the table and gave him strong lashes I couldn't watch him shouting in pain 

"Take them back to their room" the king said 

In the room I cry bitterly as Steve back was wounded with marks of the canes. He lies on the floor his back face the sky, I went to the kitchen and found pans and water I boiled it. 

I started applying the hot water with a cloth on his wound, he was quiet but I could feel the pain he was going through. 

Two days after the incident I didn't asked of chocolate from Steve again, the remaining one I kept is still there I haven't gotten appetite to eat it. 

After breakfast was served by one of the maids we were sent to the palace hall, the elder and the chief priest were all seated everyone was ready to to listen to what she has to say. 

She did few consultation which I knew were all fake Steve was feeling uncomfortable with what she was doing. He has been falling sick after the punishment the king gave to him and he is not strong enough to stand for that long 

"This is what the gods says, we can't lay our hands on them even though they have defiled the culture. 

But have send the fertility of our land to the gods on the day they appeared on the river, we can't kill them because her blood dropped in the water on the day they drunk from the river. 

"What do we do to them" the king asked 

"They will go and bring back the fertility of our land from the evil forest if they survived it they will be free to go back from where they came from "

The hearing of that ramble my stomach, I have no idea of what they were talking about 

" The woman who went to the river on that day will accompany them because he has disobeyed the gods " Mr. Ananzo said and they all looked at him with strange faces 

"So shall it be the chief priest said" 

At least we are not going alone, Steve wasn't showing any sign of fear when he heard that maybe he had no idea how that place  we will go look like. 

" you will have to come to my shrine for directions to the evil forest I don't have any power to fortify you on this journey, the gods didn't give me that mandate you go with your own strength"....... 

We went back to our room tomorrow we will set off for the journey, we don't even know how many days it will last for our return. 

Will we even survived this?? I keep pondering if  there is a way we can run out of this room and go far away from this village. 

Steve wasn't showing any sign if fear he just slept on the bed unconcerned., 

Vera you won't die I said to myself and fall on the bed sleeping..... 

 

Oh! God, what kind of temptation is this. 

It Really à Dangerous Romance indeed. 

We need weapons for this adventure
