Steve Pov's 

The D day for the court is set, I was sleeping on the bare floor when two police men came and Handcuffed me as we walked into the car.

We got to the compound of the court it was shocking when I saw the crowd, they stare at me in sadness and surprise.

We walked to the court room the crowd at the court room was even more than those outside, I was sent to the witness box and was made to swear after they had read the case.

"Four days ago our Mr. Minister for food and agriculture Mr . Mark Tettah was find died in his room, when the police went we saw the national ID of Mr. Steve at the door of the departure. He has been the suspect of his death. 

Here is Mrs.Mercy Tettah his wife..... The lawyer for Mrs.Mercy said 

My lawyer stood up from his after he asked permission from the judge.

"Madam where were you on the night your husband was murdered??

Dan my lawyer asked the wife of Mr. Mark

" I was at my parents house for the weekend with my children "

" Do your husband have any relationship with the accused here" he said pointing to me

"No, besides I haven't seen him before"

"This means he hasn't entered your house before, did you see these DI card at the house before you traveled??

" No, before I traveled the maids clean the floor and everywhere so if it was there they would have given it to me "

"Does your husband have any enemy you know?

"My husband is a politician so I don't expect him to be enemy free"

"Did he mention any of his preys to you before he died??

"No"

"Your honor that will be all, thank you"

He went back to his seat and the lawyer for Mrs. Mercy came...

. Steve, where were you on the night 21st of February 2019??

"I was at home"

"Why did you send you girlfriend Vera away on the 19th of February??

"I didn't send her away, she was going for surgery at South Africa"

"How did your ID card got to your neighbors house on the night of his murder"

"My ID card and phone got missing two days before his murder"

"your honor he insinuating that our minister came to his house and stole his phone and ID??

"Objection, Dan said but was over ruled by the judge .

"We had information from Blim hospital that your girl needed to be operated for kidney transplant and you didn't have money so you didn't perform the surgery, is that true Mr.Steve??

"It is not true, we had money for the surgery but the doctor said because her condition was critical we should refer her to a bigger hospital and that's how come she traveled to South Africa." 

"How did you get $400,000 from for such surgery" 

"Objection, this question is rhetoric..".. Dan said 

"Am done your honor,.he said and sat down

"The court is adjourned" the judge said as he leaves

I was sent back to the prison. I was still in a dilemma I don't know who could be setting me up like this.

One week after the court, my lawyer and joe.B are doing their best to get enough evidence to get me out of prison..

Benjamin came to visit me.... 

"How is my mum? 

" She is fine" 

"I hope she doesn't know about this issue"??. 

"No she doesn't know." 

"Vera is fine, I called Mr. Appiah but she is still unconscious at the hospital" 

He knows I will ase if her 

"I am doing my best to get information about this your case, I think it a setup. 

" Do your best to get me out, I need to see my baby and Vera"

"Time up" one the police men said and walked me to the prison

 

Three weeks later we went to the court again, we have been going to the court for about four times and it hasn't produce any results.

The lawyer for Mrs. Mercy stood holding papers, there was another man in the witness box

"My lord this man here is the security in charge on the day of Mr. Mark's murder. 

I will like to asked him few questions. 

Mr. Abu. Where were you when your Boss was murdered?? 

"I was at the compound listening to news on the radio "

"Did you see the person who killed your Boss" 

" In the evening someone knocked at the gate, when I asked him what he wanted, he said he is the owner of the house opposite ours and his wife is dying so I should help him carry her to the hospital,. 

When I opened the gate, I didn't see anything again" 

"Did you see the persons face" 

"No I didn't" 

"My lord if we heard him right he said the person who knocked the door said he owns the house opposite theirs, 

Mr. Steve if I may asked were you the person who knocked at the gate ?? 

"I am not the person who knocked at gate and besides my girlfriend was not in the country so why will I asked of help from him."?? 

"Your honor I ceased my questions for now" 

Joe. B was called to the witness box as Dan my lawyer began asking him questions 

Mr. Joseph, you are a friend to Steve can you tell us where your friend was on that night "?? 

"He came to my house in the morning so in the evening I tried calling him but his number was unreachable, I called him on his office number he used at home. He told me on the phone that his phone got misplaced "

"Did he tell you his ID also gor missing? ? 

"Yeah, the next day he went to buy a new card but when he went the ID he will use for the registration wasn't in his pocket, he called and told me to buy him new Sim card with my ID because his own is missing" 

Joe. B was allow to go back to his seat and the other lawyer came. 

He brought out a bag containing money and traveling passport of Mr. Mark

Mrs. Mercy, have you by chance come across this bag before??

"Yes, that my husband's bag he goes to work with" The woman said while crying 

"Your honor, this bag was find at Mr.Steve's house two days after the police arrested him"...... the crowd at the court began to murmur. 

Order! order in court! 

"He removed a gun and showed to the court 

"This was also find under his pillow in his bedroom " 

Everything that happened that moment was surprising, I couldn't believe my eyes how those things got to my room I was more than convinced that someone was behind this. 

There was silence at the court the judge was allowed to give his verdict 

" Investigation has been done thoroughly and we have had enough evidence which can help us take a stand on this issue.

Madam Mercy we are sorry for your loss, 

 with the evidence provided I therefore conclude that Mr. Steve should be sentence to death by shootings" 

The some of the crowd began to shear tears on my behalf, tears was flowing from my eyes uncontrollably. 

I was sent to the car and drove off from the court, in the car was two other men who were also in life sentences. 

They cried bitterly, I couldn't cry any more tears wasn't coming from eyes. 

Few minutes we were at a large pack , the media was over me trying to question me but I didn't give an answer. 

"Who sent you to kill our minister"?? That was the only question that went into my skull but I couldn't answer 

The police men dragged me to the far end of the pack and tied me to a tree. 

I scroll eyes at the crowd and saw people crying and Others taking pictures of us, 

One police man walked to us at where I and the other two criminals were tied up

"Say your last prayer" he said 

I closed my eyes and began to pray 

"God forgive me of my errors and protect my soul 

Protect my child and Vera let them live a better life."

I opened my eyes and darkness was everywhere that's when I realized they have covered my head with a sack.

I closed my eyes waiting and tears started dropping slowly from my eyes, before I realized I head them shouted 

" fire"

It over.......

 

Vera Pov's

Three years after I gave birth to Sandra same three when I was told Steve is dead, I have tried several times to overcome my emotions but it seem my effort is effortless. After my surgery I was in coma for almost four months 

Mr. Appiah has been taking care of my child and I, he wants me to get married to his son Sam but I don't love him. 

Emily has tried convincing me to get married to him and move on with my life, it has not been easy without Steve I missed him every second I breath. How I wish he is here to see how beautiful his daughter looks, Sandra looks beautiful exactly like Steve. She is three years older now 

"mumy I want chocolate" she cries always for chocolate, I remember how I used to cry to Steve for chocolate because of that he was beaten by the king . 

That was when I stopped eating chocolate, and Sandra has taken over, always he wants chocolate. 

"keep quiet because am not giving you another chocolate you just finished eating rice" 

"But mum chocolate is different from rice" 

"Go and bring your assignments let do them no chocolate until you finish your assignment" 

"Hi baby and mother" Emily said when she came to the hall. 

Sandra went and sat on her leg

"mum doesn't want to give me chocolate" 

"Don't worry I will buy you some just go bring your assignment" she dropped her and she runs upstairs. 

"Vera, Sam wants to take you out for dinner today" 

"Please I am not going out with any one" 

"Stop this you can't continue like this, it has being three years Steve died you need to give him chance" 

"Did he send you or you're now his spoke person?

" However you call it that doesn't matter, what matters is your happiness" 

"Am happy this way" 

"Have you thought about your child's future, do you want her to live without a fatherly care.?? 

" Will you be able to answer her when she asked of father?? 

I sigh' she is making sense though but how can I get married to someone I don't love

"I don't love him and you know that" 

"You will love him just give him some time, Sam is a nice person" 

We were talking when someone knocked at the door, Emily went for the door and it was Sam. He was looking handsome in his suit but unlike my Steve 

"Hi" he said when he entered 

"Hi, I replied 

" We will be right back".. Emily said after she served him a drink 

In my room.. 

"You need to change over to something gorgeous" 

I wasn't pleased with the idea of going out with him, but I have to move on, I changed in a pink street gown and stood on my heels.. 

"Mumy am coming with you" Sandra said when I was almost at the door 

"No stay with Anti Emily, I will buy you chocolate when coming" 

"Let her come, I will love to spend time with her" Sam said 

Few minutes we were at a restaurant, I was feeling uncomfortable because of the noise and crowd at the restaurant. 

I have being indoors for three years and I am used to it

While eating Sandra poured a drink on a man sitting beside us on a different table 

 "Hey, little girl be careful " the man said after she poured the drink on him

"Sorry please, say sorry to him 

"He was staring at me, tell him not to stare at me" Sandra said

"this child is stubborn like his father" the man said and that got me angry 

"Sam please take me out here" I said and began walking out of the restaurant while holding Sandra hands 

I didn't know why I was angry, maybe because he said Sandra is stubborn like Steve or maybe because Sandra disobeyed me......
