Vera' s Pov

After Sandra spoiled my day yesterday Sam dropped me off at home, he was disappointed for what happened but he should understand I love someone.

I don't believe Steve is dead he promise to be with me and my baby, he has to fulfill his promises.... I was drawn out my thoughts when Emily... 

"Babe Mr. Appiah is here" I have told her not to call me Babe, Steve alone calls me by that name but she doesn't listen

"When will you stop calling me by that name"?? I scream from my room

"Stop been childish and come out" Emily is too stubborn she does what please her no matter who you are she doesn't care about you, someone who postponed her wedding for some reasons best known to her. 

I went to the hall and there sit Mr . Appiah he is gradually growing old, I greeted him and sat down. Sandra calls him grand father I wonder why she doesn't ask of her father.

"How is my little girl doing? 

" She is fine, she's gone to school,?? 

"Do you want to have her as your only family?? I knew where he was driving at, that question is because of his son. 

" I don't understand Sir " I lied because I understand perfectly what he was saying. 

" My son told me what happened yesterday, I think your child needs a father and another child to play with" 

"I know but I need some time to think about this" 

"Alright, but think about your child's future"... I came to invite you to my son's birthday day party this evening this is your invitation" 

"Thank you" 

"You have recovered fully do you want to start working?? 

" Yes but not in Ghana anymore "

" We have opened a branch at Nigeria I will like you to go and assist my son Sam over there " I knew it a way to get us together but I have to go because I don't want to step my foot in Ghana.

. Appiah had lifted, Emily and Sandra came home 

I gave her the invitation card.. In the evening I dressed up with a red and white bare back gown with my black heels. 

Sandra was also in the same dress like my, We got to the hotel the party was taking place. 

Few people of about three hundred were present, when I got there Emily's fiance came and took her away. I began to feel uncomfortable at the party, I wish this whole thing is over. 

Feel minutes later the MC began to welcome and address some of the invited guest, it was time for the cutting of the cake. 

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you all for coming before I will cut the cake I will like to call someone so special to the table" Sam said I started to pray he doesn't call me but before I realized he had mentioned my name. 

"Mum let's go, he is calling you" Sandra started dragging from the chair the guest began clapping. 

I went to stood beside him I was still loss on his reasons for calling me to the table, I held Sandra's hands as I stood beside Sam. 

Before I could understand what he was about to do, he knelt down in front of me as he removes small box containing ring 

"Will you marry me?? My face fell, how could he propose to me without knowing my stand either I luv him or not. 

I twisted my eyes to the crowd and saw Emily gesturing for me to accept, I turned my eyes from her and this time was Mr. Appiah. He was staring at me as he blinks his eyes for me to accept, I looked at the crowd and how disappointed they will be if I don't accept him. 

"am sorry Sam I can't do this" I said as I held Sandra's hand and run away from there, I got to the road side and thank God there was a taxi. I jumped in side the car and went home. 

"In the morning I packed my clothes and bulked a flight to Nigeria.. 

Mr. Appiah won't be happy for what I did, I am going far away from them and start a new life with my child. 

"Where are you going with your bags?? Emily said when I reached the hall door, 

" Am going back to my family " I lied because my father and sister are the last people I will want to see in my life 

" Why do you always want to hurt your self? 

"Please, I have taken a decision and am not going back, good bye" I said and lifted 

"Mum where are ? She asked when we got the airport 

"We are going to your father," why did I say that?? 

" so am going to see my father " she started jumping happily 

" Em-m., sandy please we are.. stop jumping people are washing us" I stammered 

After some hours we got to Abuja, Nigeria here I come....... 

Two months after I came to Abuja I had a work in a restaurant as a waitress that what I have been doing to pay my rent and Sandra's school fees. 

"Vera what's wrong, you look bored?? Favour my friend and co-worker said. 

I met her the day I got to Abuja, she helped me acquired this job. 

She is my friend and at the same time we work in the same restaurant, her father owns the restaurant. 

" I am fine just tired "

"My parents are coming to pay me a visit, can you come over and help cook for them."?? 

"Alright I will" 

"Thank you, she said and hugged me" 

We went to the market got some food staffs and went to her house for the cooking,.. 

"Vera there is this handsome guy who is staying with my parents, my parents wants me to get married to him" 

"That's a good news, it means you will be getting married soon" 

"Not really" 

"Why, don't you like the guy"?? 

"I like him but he doesn't like me" 

"Why" 

"I don't know, he is always quiet and indoors," 

"Will he come with your parents"?? 

"Yeah, he has been driving my parents but the last time they came he didn't get out of the car, this time around they are staying for a week I will see how he sleep in the car for one week".... We both barged into laughter 

After the cooking I went to the bathroom took a quick shower, I was behind the mirror when Sandra came.... 

"Mum when are are going to see my father??.. She has been disturbing with this issue of meeting his father ever since we came to Abuja. 

" He will come tomorrow " 

" My friend's father comes to pick her everyday after school and when he come she kisses him, I want to also kiss my father when he comes to pick me at school." I didn't know how to convince this girl any more, she is been too stubborn this days. 

"Your father will pick you tomorrow at school, don't talk again else no chocolate for you" That's the only password to lock her from further questioning 

"My parents are here," Favour said when she came to the room

"I will be with you soon" I said after she had finished changing and was about going to meet them. 

I was looking through the window when I saw Sandra talking to someone in the car packed at the compound, I stretched my neck to see the face of the person but because of the darkness his face wasn't clear. 

I put on my clothes and rush out of the room to the compound to take her away from the man but when I got there he had taken her away. 

I began screaming and crying, Favour and her parents came out and saw me sitting on the floor crying as I shout.. 

"What is it young lady??..... Favour's father said, 

" My Child has been kidnapped "

" Kidnapped, Who, How, when,.?? . Favour said in surprise.. 

"Wait, my car is not here, which means she went with him, don't worry my dear your child is with my son" Favour's father said. 

I was still uncomfortable that his son went with Sandra, we went back to the room.. 

"Vera, meet my parents". 

"Call me Mr. Destiny and my wife.." 

"Constance" 

As I was talking to them I heard the sound of a car at the compound, i excuse myself and run to meet them, Sandra came out of the car holding chocolate as she runs to meet me. 

The man who went with her got out of the the car but his back was facing us as he picked something from the car. 

"What kind of a person are you who takes someone's child away without the notion of her parents, did you want to kidnapped my child" 

He wasn't talking he was busy picking things in the car, I got closer to him and taped him at his back 

"Do you have ma.....nners, the remaining words was choked in my throat when he turned. 

" Steve "... I jumped onto his arms, he wrapped his strong hands around my waist he was surprised as I was. he released me from his hold and stared at me from head to toe to confirm if he wasn't making a mistake, he gave me another warmth embrace.... 

We were interrupted when..... 

"What is happening here?? Favour said in a manner of jealous. 

" Sorry Dad, this the lady I told you about " Steve said and they stared at us surprisingly 

We went inside the room as Steve began to narrate how he escape the death sentence...
