Chioma - Episode 23

 

Two weeks later

Chioma sat across David, a table keeping them apart, even as she was reading from one of the files on his table,she saw him staring at her,who would have thought the mighty arrogant David could be so in love with her, he grins like someone who just won a forever lottery, Chioma smiled at her thoughts and lifted up her head to his face and there he was smiling and staring like a teenage boy with his crush 

Baby, you look pale, what's wrong? he asked, going to her side, he got his way to carrying her on his lap

What is it, baby? 

There was silent and then the big news drop" I'm pregnant, two  weeks pregnant.".    David looked at her face to detect if she's serious but she was, she gave him the result of the pregnancy test and he took all his strength not to shout like a mad person, he was going to be a father soon, he felt inflated that he carried chioma swirling her around

David! she gasped but he didn't stop, he had the best professional cook, the most talented dancer, a wonderful counsellor for handicaps as his wife and now he was about to be a father, he was overjoyed

Baby, I promise I'll be with you, throughout, all the medication, ultra scan, massages, in fact the labour itself, I will be there....

Chioma smiled and looked down at her flat tummy, there was no bump yet, but there were changes in her mind, her body, even her spirit felt it.

The door opened interrupting the couple, David stood up immediately,   Chioma sensed her husband didn't want to be close to whoever was the man in the house.

What are you doing in Nigeria, dad? David forced out in annoyance, but the other man only laughed and replied" I came to take you back to where you belong.

"I belong in Nigeria! David retorted, he wasn't happy about his dad standing in his office, the thing is, his father and mother are a far distance couple, his mother believes she is meant to be in Nigeria, while his father believes he's an Italian, but it became war when his father wanted his two children to be winemakers and to live with him, his sister loved it there but David didn't want to be there, he followed his mother and since then untill now his father left his life .

......"You can't be forced into a law firm by your mum,when you are a sparrow wine maker.......

Hi! Chioma interrupted, she held Davids trembling hand and continued...., "If you really want my husband to be a sparrow wine maker, why try to force him like his mother did, so you say, why can't you be polite a bit, everyone is not meant to be tapping wine, Mr Jack, I was never told you are egocentric, Your son here patronizes your sparrow wine like he's a share holder, he's working in this law firm because he loves his mum  but I'm proud of having a husband who has opened 9'000 designer shops all over Africa.....you can't always have what you want!!!

David saw his fathers face, it oozes out respect for him and his wife, and he felt glad, Congrats David! he said leaving the scene

Mrs Julian awaited her husband, she was still in love with him and she knew it was same with him because he stopped in front of her and kissed her deeply.

You are so cute, Julian and I miss you!

Miss you too! Julian said savouring the attention she gained from him,he took in all of her before saying " Our son married a smart woman...

*smart woman**

.....I'm proud of him.He completes, kissed her again before leaving the building.Mrs Julian watched him till he disappeared before perusing his words, yes she had heard Chioma, the authority she spoke with and she didn't like it at all,"There are some secrets, I have to tell David! She said aloud, that the receptionist looked at her. She won't stand and watch Chioma make her break her promise to Ella.

What was the promise,? I'm very sorry, I didn't post earlier, I was motivated to start another story, be looking forward to "IN THE MESS" Chioma is getting  to its finishing line.
