Best Friend - Episode 22

"My mum is waiting for us" she said after awhile

"I don't understand" I replied puzzled

"I kind of told her everything and she wants you to come home with me" she said smiling.

"Well how about another day, I have to study and do so many other things" I tried excusing myself not liking the idea but one look at her face and I quit the excuses

"Should I be scared?" I said after a while with a laugh

"Except you have ulterior motives I don't see any need to be".

She interlocked her hands with mine smiled at me and pulled me along. We walked past Professor Ogbus's office, where he came out laughing with Dustan like old time friends, I greeted, prostrating and passed, few steps away we could hear someone calling trying us get our attention, we turned to see Dustan approaching, Chelsea gave me a wink and said "please be nice you know he is the one that turns out to be your true friend" I laughed using my hand to playfully pull hee nose.

"Hey Dustan good afternoon" I said as he reached us

"Oh hey man wow you actually remembered my name that's so cool, I didn't get a chance to know yours the other day".

"Yeah sorry about that am Fred and this is Chelsea" she waved at him with her left hand as her right was still interlocked with mine

"Oh its the beautiful friend from the other day great to meet you"

"You are not a medical student" I said more of a statement than a question

"Nah I don't have the brain for that, am in engineering and gladly in my final year can't wait to get out of here"

"Wow that's great so I hope to be seeing you around" I asked to his surprise 

"Yeah sure why not"

In no time we got to the family house of the Adekitans it was very much exactly like what I saw in my dream the only difference been the color of the gate that was now milk instead of black. Chelsea could see I was a bit nervous, she rubbed my back gently as we walked in through the front door

. I then remembered her father as I saw a painting of his portrait hanging firmly on the wall just beside that of Mrs Adekitan and Chelsea's in a way that the images formed a triangle. I was still admiring the house when a beautiful lady in her late forties walked in,she wore a veil over her face, I recognized her to be Chelseas mum obvipusly thats where she inherited her angelic looks from,she did look different from the dream or maybe her image was no longer clear in my mind, immediately standing I slightly prostrated and greeted, she said nothing but just kept looking at me with an expressionless face, I was beginning to get really nervous now as was Chelsea that stood behind her and then she said and did the least expected after looking at me for five long minutes

"Come here child" she said with her hand opened for a hug, I walked slowly to her more stunned than confused. She pulled me close and gave me a warm hug, I could see Chelsea smiling.

She was the warm, sweet, caring,understanding woman I anticipated, we talked a lot and in no time she knew everything about my life. It was a fun day for me and it was to say it was go time but I did, she waved me goodbye and said

"Remember what I told you, you guys are only allowed to be friends for now, I don't want to hear otherwise"

"Sure ma, thanks a lot".

Paris walked me to the gate

So you succeeded in making me not read for my exams right?"

"Oh like I kidnapped you here"

We both laughed

"Thanks for today" I said as we stood by the gate

"How about we meet tomorrow and I will make up for the wasted time" she said

"That would be my pleasure" I said with a smile and turned to leave

"Um Fred I think you should know, Kunle knows everything"

"What!! I don't understand what does he know" I said my mood now been soiled

"Am sorry but I felt he deserves to know, I think you guys should talk it out as friends" she said coming close to hold my left hand in both her hands

"What did he say? How did he react?"

"He was fine, the only thing is he wasn't happy hearing it from me".

I nodded my head slowly and left, I could sense trouble, Kunle was never a person that kept his emotions in, if he is angry he shows it, and he can't just be cool with all this. What next to do continuously played in my head as I sat in the keke(commercial tricycle) going home.

I walked into the room really nervous expecting the worse but not ready to back down, i would not be a coward for a woman I love.

"Guy how far, welcome, how was your jacking?" Kunle said as I got in. He lay on the bed we both shared playing a racing game on his phone.

"Fine" I answered cautiously

"Food is in the pot" he added

Now this was suspicious,the Kunle i know would not be this calm, he typically wont cook talk more of keeping for me. Hope he doesn't plan on poisoning me I thought as many wild thoughts crossed my mind

"Thanks but I just ate maybe later" I said

"If you no see am later no ask me o" he warned.

We both stayed saying nothing to each other, i wondering how to start a conversation like of that nature till he stood up and left not saying a word or acting like anything was up he was just so cool and normal. He left not coming back all through the night till the next day.
