Anjola - Episode 1
It was a 6am on a windy Wednesday Morning,the skies were dark with the promise of rain to come. Anjola burrowed deeper in the blanket,while mumbling incoherently.
Just at this moment,a woman came into Anjola's room,picking up dresses and clothing's that was strewn all around the room... She sighed deeply . "Anjola wake up,you this girl,do i always have to clean up your room?"
Grumblings could be heard under the blanket, with more stretching and yawnings. "mummmmy... I'm not feeling too well, i need my rest. Yesterday was really hectic." Anjola complained as she swiped up her phone, her expression changed.
"Ah,pele ??k?? mi,i already prepared your favorite with plenty prawns o." Mrs Wonuola,Anjola's mom said,as she switched on the light on the hallway,leaving her daughter's room.
"Bribery and corruption,Anjola murmured under her breath. "im sure she's forgotten what today's date is." she went to her walk in closet looking for matching outfits for work. She hummed under her breath. "This should do." settling on a white peplum penciled gown with a black suit jacket. She was ready in no time and joined her mom in setting the table, "Happy Birthday Mom." stepping forward to hug her petite sized Mom. "I know i'm a bad daughter,but i'm all you've got,and i love you

"Ir? ni o,is today 17th? I forgot jare,This week has been an hectic one for me,thanks Baby girl." Mrs Wonu said collecting, the package her daughter gave her. "whats in here, she asked shaking the package. Anjola sat down eating and smiling to herself." Its a massager Mom,i noticed you complained recently of neck pains and body aches,it was brought to my work place yesterday and i decided to buy one for you. Works like magic too." Anjola concluded.
Tears welled up in Mrs Wonu's eyes,she sat down heavily beside her daughter, "You shouldn't worry yourself about me Anjola, I've always told you,i'd be fine. Remember you need money right now more than i do,i don't have much to give you,and i cant start...
"Mom dont start,you know i hate it when you say that, i work because of you, I'm not complaining am i." Anjola replied frustratedly
"oda, I've heard you, my girl is all grown.You remind me so much of your father.."
They both ate in silence each lost in their own thoughts. It was a topic that weighed heavily on their hearts, Anjola's Dad.. He died when Anjola was 10, she'd loved her husband so much and his death was still a mystery to her, a mystery she couldn't voice out loud,she feared for her daughter's life and that was that.

. Everything her husband owned especially the company,she'd left behind and ran for dear life,her baby girl's Existence was much more important to her than inheritance, properties and wealth. She knew this properties rightfully belonged to Anjola, but then her husband's Best friend, Wole had told her to run and that he'd handle the invaders, this she did fifteen years ago. She'd brought Anjola with her to the remotest part of Lagos, hoping not to be recognized. She hadn't heard from Wole ever since then, and she was too scared to find out. She wondered...
"Is everything alright mom? You seem to be far away. "Anjola asked clearing the dishes.
"Hmm.. Ahem.. I'm fine, come, will drop you off at work. I don't have deliveries until two this afternoon." Mrs Wonuola said, picking up her keys and heading to the garage.
Anjola followed behind, something was definitely off, she knew Mom was having it bad with her boss at the Cake shop, but she didn't think that was the reason her mom was brooding. She'd find out soon...
