An Arranged Marriage - Episode 9

 

When I get down stairs I see that they've tucked into the spread, by the looks of it, the way Aroos is cringing and the way Anaya is glaring at her plate, my prayers were not answered.

"I prepared breakfast" Aroofa breaths by way of greeting.

"This is supposed to be breakfast? If i had a dog I wouldn't force it to eat this thing" Aroos says, using her spoon to push around a green thing that look suspiciously like okra in a omelette.

"Eat your greens, they are good for you"Aroofa says. 

"Well, I won't eat okra with egg and with bread, thank you" Aroos says, pushing the plate away from her before folding her hands and looks to me.

"Your loss" Aroofa says, grabbing the plate and turning it into her own.

I smile, my eyes goes to Aroos to see her looking great, colour in her cheeks,.

She sees me watching her and she winks.

She must be feeling better now, no dark cloud of Edward the jerk hanging over her, I still have to think about what to do with that asshole.

Even Anaya looks pleased about this, good then, Aroos is back to us.

I take my seat finally and I try,.. Believe me I try to eat my eggs but I just can't, I just settle on sipping my tea and chewing some toast,the conversation of the girls settling around me.

. Did you see that? Like I mean, why do you need a dress made out off diamonds? That's too extravagant, even for Linda King" Aroofa is saying and I tune in at the last name.

Aroos is nodding, around her mouthful of tea.

"Did you know that she broke up with Kevin West? I would kill to date Kevin West but Linda broke up with him, after just a week of dating"Aroofa says.

" I heard he's a long time family friend of theirs, maybe the media spinned it into a relationship, you know? Fake news and everything" Aroos says.

"It could be, but Kevin West? I want" Aroofa says with no little amount of feminine appreciation.

"She has a lot of money, that certifies her into doing whatever she wants, e.g dating a guy and dumping him after a week, you don't have that kind of money" Anaya says, also content in sipping tea and eating bread.

"Who's that?" I ask and they turn their head to me in disbelief, even Anaya.

"Kevin west? He's only the love child of Selene Matthews and Andreas West, hes the prince of RnB music and the hottest thing God created this century" Aroofa says I disagree with her on the hottest comment, my mind going back to a bare chest and feet I got a glimpse of yesterday.

"No, not Kevin, Linda King, the one you mentioned"

They look at me with even more disbelief.

"What?"I ask. 

"You don't know who Linda King is? She is as popular as the Kardashians" Aroos breaths.

I open mouth to ask who the Kardashians are but I close it.

That's besides the point, I just want to know if Linda King is associated with Caspian King.

"Just tell me" I say and its Anaya who answers me.

"Linda King is the sister of Caspian King, the daughter of Mr. King, the man I work for, I work at one of the King's offices"

"Offices?" Now I know why the name sounded familiar. 

"Uh yeah? They are the richest thing after God, Caspian's networth could not be accumulated by Google the last time I checked" Aroofa says. 

I splutter. 

If he's that rich what did he need my little strip of land for? 

"Why are you asking?" Anaya asks, her keen eyes on me. 

"Father sold out our land" I say and the conversation at the table dulls.

"Can he do that? Doesn't he need your signature?" Aroos asks. 

"He forged my signature, he sold the land to Caspian King, I went over to his address I got from father last night" They look at me like I have 3 heads. 

Before leaving yesterday I made sure father gave me the address of the King's residence, he was only too glad to, wishing me death by the Kings as I left. 

"You did what?" Anaya exclaims. 

"How did you get in?" Aroos asks, skeptical. 

"You went to the house on the hill?" Aroofa breaths, looking like she might faint. 

"Is it forbidden?" I ask.

"Caspian King is so strict about his privacy that not even a paparazzo dare go up those hills, he will sue them to within an inch of their life." Anaya breaths and I flinch, wondering what could have happened to me due to my ignorance. 

"Well I had to do something, I can't just let the promise of our future go like that" I say and they become solemn, the truth that we are well and truly doomed hitting them. 

"Does.. Does that mean I will have to get married?" Aroos asks in a small voice and I shake my head. 

"That's taken care of Aroos, nothing like that" I say and she breaths a sigh of relief. 

"I just have to meet Caspian" I say and their staring commence again. 

"What ever for?" Anaya asks. 

"I don't know, i just want to see if I can persuade him, somehow" I say and they don't look too keen on believing me. 

"Maybe.. Maybe you should let go of the land, Caspian King is not someone you toy with Nady" Anaya says and my eyes widen a little at her using my nickname. 

But I shake my head, I have to see him no matter what, I can't just let go of that land like that. 

I don't know what I will tell him if I do see him but..let me just see him first.
