An Arranged Marriage - Episode 11

 

I point out the directions and his driver follows, not asking any questions, just drives as swiftly as possible.

I don't ask why he is here, why he is helping me, I'm not one to look a gift horse in its mouth.

I need to get to my sister and I don't care how.

I swipe my phone, going online and seeing the pictures Edward posted on Instagram, tagging Aroos. 

I feel bile in my throat, there are some of her in just her bra, looking over her shoulder at someone, sitting on a lap I assume is Edwards. 

There's another of her in bed, her back exposed down to the top of her rear, the twin dimples ontop her butt showing, sleeping, she was sleeping, comfortable with the mofo but he took advantage of her. 

There's another, at a party of sorts, Edwards hand, it's grabbing her boob, the other.. The other. . Is.. I look away, shutting down my phone. 

The bastard took advantage of my poor drunk sister, she had liked him. 

The Mother f*cking bastard.

My fist clench in my Jean skirt. 

I vaguely feel Kane watching me. 

The driver pulls up in front of the hardware store where Aroos works and I'm out, my leg protests but I pay it no heed.

It's 4 in the evening, for a hardware store that can as well be the dead of night.

It is quiet and there are no customers, I see Maggie, Aroos's coworker standing guard in front of a door.

Edward is there, sneering, two guys behind him.

How do they train men these days? Preying on helpless women? Does that make him feel like a man?

"Step away from her" I say, my voice surprisingly calm, betraying the noise in my head.

He turns, his eyes wide, filled with a dark light.

"Who are you?"

"The person who's gonna make you suffer if you don't step away from my sister and her friend."

"You are Maggie's sister?"

Fool.

Idiot.

"No, Aroos's, step away from them and leave now before you get more trouble in your hands."

"You don't understand.. I just want to explain.

"You can do that over the phone, go" I say, I extend a hand towards maggie and she grabs it, her hand shaking, I place her behind me, before turning and effectively placing my body between Edward and the door where I can vaguely hear my sister crying. My heart pinches, but I don't do anything, mindful of the light in Edwards eyes.

He looks deranged, obsessed, even his friends looks weary, like they want to get out of there.

"No, she.. She has to. Come out,.. We have to talk. I have to tell her how I feel, I love her.. Not her twin sister, her.."He says.

Oh my God.

He's crazy.

" You do not take degrading pictures of someone you love Edward, you certainly do not post them online. "I say and his head twitches.

" That's.. That.. That's what I want to explain.. "He says, like he's inside his head. His eyes unfocused, not seeing anything.

Then it fills with rage, and then all hell break loose.

Edward begins to shout, shoving me away from the door, I fall, my ankle twisting, he pounds on the locked door, turning the knob, trying to get in, Aroos is wailing inside.

"Get out...! Get out here you fucking bitch..! Get out.. We have to talk.. I love you..! We are meant for each other..

. I will. Kill. You.. I will. Fucking kill you if. You let. Anyone else. Touch you, you fucking cunt!" He's screaming, his friends are trying to hold him back,and I try getting up on my feet but it screams in protest.

But I don't care.

This sorry excuse of a human is scaring my sister.

I look around he hardware store, searching for something, anything to end the idiot.

He's still banging on the door, pushing away his friends, Maggie is calling someone, the police, I assume.

I freeze when I spy a Mallet, its a hardware store. The mallet is new and still wrapped in the shinny nylon.

I limp to the stand and I grab it, limping back to him was the hardest, my foot protests with every movement.

His friends must have seen the light in my eyes because they step back,leaving him to his devices.

I raise the mallet high before bringing it down with enough force on his shoulder.

He whirls, pain contorting his face but he does not go down, not like I expected.

"You bitch!!! You fucking bitch!!" He's screaming, his eyes on the mallet then on my face then on the mallet, I'm panting from standing, my foot hurts, the bad one.

He lifts his hands to hit me but hands are there, shoving him against the wall.

It's Kane King.

" Cool off man "He says quietly, deadly.

" Who the fuck are you? Let go of me..! I'm gonna kill that bitch! "

" You either stay still now or you will be eating your meals through straws for the rest of your Godforsaken life. "Kane whispers again and I know he means it too.

The eyes of Edwards friends have widened, but Edward the fool does not get the hint.

Even Maggie has stopped her shaking to stare in awe at Kane.

Edward tries to pull free, twisting this way and that but Kane holds firm.

Sirens begin to blare from a distance.

"Good,! Cops are here! I'm gonna sue you all to within an inch of your life!" Edward screams... "Starting with you bitch!" He screams at Aroos.

Kane just holds him tighter, his eyes coming to me, scanning me from head to toe, they finally rest on my injured feet.

I suddenly feel self concious, I'm wearing a short Jean skirt with a white polo and white sneakers.

His eyes roam that leg as if trying to see through my shoes.

I didn't know he had been around, I thought he had left after his driver dropped me.

He looks unruffled, his suit immaculate even though Edward is struggling.

The police cars pull up and they file in.

"There was a report of a disturbance" The first officer says and I just slowly point in the direction of Edward..
